- The Trade Wind Hornpipe will be familiar to many of my generation as part of the Navy Lark theme (BBC radio, 1960s). I found the music for it earlier this year and then thought of pairing it up with Corn Riggs, which I've known for many years but not played much recently.
You know?......we just can not grasp the mastery in your playing until we grab a box and try it ourselves.
Then we realise!!!
Oh dear!!!!
Beautiful playing as always.
Brings back childhood memories of the Navy Lark.. I'm off searching for the dots. I play concertina so will learn.
Off to Shrewsbury Folk Festival tomorrow.. will see if Flos Headford will teach me the tune.
I like it it’s very catchy
Well done - I like the set. Thank heavens I don’t have to play it as fast as in The Navy Lark. I spent ages transcribing The Navy Lark theme by hand - before I discovered it’s origin. I might try playing the added third part in C to justify the time I spent, and fortunately I can play the #s on my banjo. You got away with missing them on your melodeon, but maybe the traditional music doesn’t have them - don’t know.
You, sir, are a very talented human being. This is wonderful you listen to.
The Navy Lark!!! CPO Pertwee!!! I discovered that radio show around 10 years ago. It was on some website for free. Maybe archive.org? Super funny! Thanks!✌️🌞😎🎅🏻🎄
I used to listen to it first time round in the 1960s!
