Speck is an iconic case brand for their colorful CandyShells… but quality has been hit and miss in recent years… and they don’t always have the fabulous colors… good to see some color, but they should CANCEL all Black and Grey cases… Speck cases should never be black or grey or boring… So do better Speck! Black and grey etc are STUPID non-colors… Bring more colors! And more contrasting colors like the CandyShells had.

I think they are focusing more on color now…they released some great color cases for the iPhone 13 series over the summer and their iPhone 14 series cases are bright and beautiful. And quality wise, I see nothing to complain about with the current Presidio2 Grip and Pro. They are doing everything right, in my view 😊
Completely agree they used to have colors for every type of person and now it’s just a few light pink ones and one ugly color and grey blue black. Quality has also gone down but sadly still one of the best cases in terms of protection and slimness.

Thanks, Mary! Those flex corners that Speck has come up with for its Armor Cloud tech cases make it really easy to get the cases off and on…but once on, the fit is super tight, with no looseness anywhere. Really impressive. And such nice colors to choose from this year!
Hi Roach! I was somewhat apprehensive when I first saw the cases, but I tested it, and there is definitely enough lip to protect your phone when the case is placed flat on its back. And the improved compatibility with MagSafe accessories is very welcome!
@@TheTechReviewer yes for a flat drop on flat ground but I wouldn’t trust the regular pro speck cases on anything other than flat ground. I would drop it once at work with gravel on the ground or on a dirt road and bam rock right to the camera module. Unfortunately if you look at the reviews on their own site there is a few people that have had this happen. A small pebble lands right where the bottom camera lip would of protected it.
@Star, I totally hear you. It’s definitely a risk. I think Speck was going for a balance here between protection and functionality and they opted to go a bit more on the functionality side…Life is full of trade offs! 🤔

Hello kristen, I just got the blue speck persidio grip for my new iPhone 14 also in blue they look great together and I absolutely like the case , I do have a question please does the case will discolor over time and if it does can I be able to clean it up? Thanks
Hi Marina! So, a soft touch finish like you have on the Presidio Grip is going to have some tendency to pick up dirt and oil. Darker colors are typically better in avoiding discoloration than lighter colors, however. Because I change cases so often as a case reviewer, I don't usually get much wear and tear or discoloration with any of my cases, so I don't really have any case cleaning experience, but Speck has a pretty good cleaning guide on their website that you might want to check out. Hello dear Kristen, let me share my experience with Speck persidio perfect clear in my iPhone 14 pro. I was totally scared to get the case in the beginning because the lip camera was not covering all corners, but I tested it and I dropped the phone few times and the case protected the phone and the camera and my suggestion get a lens protector if anyone scare from this case. In my opinion it’s not a great idea from Speck to remove one of the four corners around the camera but it is what it is. Still so much better than otterbox lineup this year.

But if your worry is only scratching the lenses when the phone is placed on its back, I think you are in good shape. Based on what I could see, there is sufficient lip for camera lens protector even though there isn't a fourth side to the camera rim. Hi Cody! I hear you…but Apple made things difficult for accessory manufacturers with the size of the camera on the 14 Pro. And Speck isn’t the only company doing this for its 14 Pro cases…the Mous Limitless 5.0 cases for the 14 Pro have the same rear camera rim design. And it does give you ‘lay on the table’ protection for your rear camera, despite the way it looks…
They completely ruined the regular pro cases by doing that to the bottom of the camera lip. Luckily they only did this on the regular pro and not the max. I had the lilac grip case but the case started to turn yellow from pores in the plastic in just under a week. It looked like it was a few months old in just a week and sadly is getting sent back because of this.
Hi @Star! I hear your concerns! Speck isn't the only case manufacturer to do this with their camera lip. Mous chose to do it with their 14 Pro cases as well. The 14 Pro is an awesome phone, but the camera is so huge in relation to the rest of the body, the concern was that many of the larger MagSafe accessories wouldn't fit without this modification. And it does look pretty sleek, and you do have 'lay on the table protection' despite the look of it. Speaking as someone who had a 13 Pro which didn't fit with a number of MagSafe accessories, I appreciate the frustration that Speck and Mous were trying to save their customers from. Also, so sorry to hear about the color issue on the Lilac...it's always a danger with lighter color cases, particularly those with soft touch finishes. Thanks for sharing your experience! Laid it on a flat table and looked under, the camera does not touch the table (but it’s close, maybe 2mm or so). Glad to find out you’ve definitely got your facts straight and that most complaints are probably more due to negligence. Now I consider the camera lip thing an advantage that I have better compatibility with MagSafe accessories than with other cases. Thanks for the informed review!
Hi Leo! Sorry, not something I do on my channel. Unless you have a truly professional set up (which I don't), I don't think you can perform drop testing accurately. There are so many factors that can skew the results. Plus, I'm personally not a fan of dropping things!
