- This pie is so delicious. When you are building it don't skimp on the broth. Dumplings soak up broth. So as you add the peas, eggs and dumplings add more broth than you think it needs. This is one of my Hannah's favorite meals. Thank you for cooking with me.

Brenda.... don't boil your eggs. Put the eggs in pot, add cold water, put pot on the burner, when water BEGINS to boil, do NOT let them boil remove pot from burner, cover pot for 13 minutes.. you'll have perfectly "boiled" eggs every time.
That's the exact way I make mine! Everyone has their own way of making boiled eggs but as long as I've been making them this way, they always came out perfect 🌼

In addition, you will notice that your eggs will not have that greenish ring around the yolk cooking them with this method. Remember, don't let them boil in the water...as soon as you see that first boil bubble, remove from the heat and cover for the 13 minutes. ENJOY!
I have never heard of dumplings made like this. My mom’s dumplings were like little clouds that she would make with a spoon and drop them into broth. Her dumplings had egg and baking powder flour etc in them. So yummy. Your dumplings are like a noodle.
@48smooth the dumplings that Brenda makes are called "slicks". I've been making them for 60 years, just like my Mom taught me and my grandmother.

Good morning,Miss Brenda. I'm in Central Ky. You and your Mama cook a lot like mine did. Always using what was available,basic food,healthy ingredients and always lip smacking and belly filling. When you walked in my Grandmother's or Mama's house it smelled good of home-cooked food and soap. I remember my Grandmother's flour sack towels and wash basin. She had cistern water and it was good. The rainwater ran through the gutters on the house,and down a spout into a strainer and then into an underground well hole,then an electric pump pumped it to the sink in the kitchen. She always had Sweet tea ready and pie,cake or cookies. She cooked in local schools and a college we had here,which is a community park now. Oh I miss those days ,I sure thank the Lord I had them! Love you,I'll share more as time allows.
Sweet Brenda, I could watch you hours on end! And wish!!! Lots of how you do things is how reminds me of my mom growing up! But I have absolutely (NO) kitchen/cooking skills! Honey you make it look so easy, I think you could prepare foods in your sleep! Oh how I would love to try some of the dishes you prepare! Especially the cornbread and okra etc!!

Lunch was dinner at my house growing up too Brenda and dinner was supper. This looks so good....I love the crust...it's my favorite part of pot pie...lol. I feed the "varmints" too Brenda. I make the joke that my Buzzards and vultures are vegetarian....lol. I used to be insulted when they showed up to eat what I toss out....lol. It amazes me how much they love ranch and mayonnaise....lol. They eat salad and slaw and love spaghetti...lol. I make my ranch with buttermilk. They will fight the crows over spaghetti...lol. You would think there is something dead in my yard when they fly over and see I have dumped something...lol. It amazes my family when they are here...they thought I was kidding...lol. 🥰
Your pie 🥧 looks so scrumptious 😋! I like the way mom use the bottom and the top for dough in her pie. It is so delicious as well as Brenda!

Have you ever thought of putting the water from the eggs in a bucket and use it for your plants after it cools as well as the cold water you rinsed the eggs in.

I think cubes of ham, carrots and onion would be great in this. Never heard of this but just salty enough to replace all the salt and nutrients we lose when we sweat in Summer. I love Miss Brenda of Cooking With Brenda Gantt!!🎉🎉🎉
