What Was Earth Like in The Age of Giant Insects?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 вер 2024
- Many fans of paleontology have wondered what Earth was like during the age of giant insects. Before the dinosaurs, a period of gigantism helped massive insects dominate their ecosystems, leading to one of the most fascinating periods in our planet’s history.

lol i can’t believe this channel got me by stealing Kurzgesagts whole thumbnail flow
Not just thumbnails whole video style lol
@@coop34 nah, the overall video style is pretty distinguishable, considering both are doing VO + animation.
the art design is actually different enough from Kurzgesat that it makes me wonder why they didn’t try to make a thumbnail based on their own assets.
This is one of the clearest bites I’ve ever seen, actually lol, they did not need to copy that thumbnail style 😂
So true 😂 a little shallow that they’ve copied everything kurzgesat has done but they have done a reasonable job. Kurzgesat set the bar high
Kuzgesats is trash and full of lies
Lmao so true I was like did they change the channel name or smh
A spider is not an insect! Eight legs, six legs!
No, spiders are not insects, but are arachnids:
Number of legs: Spiders have eight legs, while insects have six.
Antennae and wings: Spiders don't have antennae or wings, while insects do.
Class: Spiders belong to the class Arachnida, while insects belong to the class Insecta.
Development: Spiders don't go through the same four stages of development as insects (egg, larva, pupa, and adult). Spiders also don't go through metamorphosis like caterpillars and moths.
Body segments: Spiders have two tagmata, the cephalothorax (prosoma) and the opisthosoma (abdomen), which are joined by a small pedicel.
Both spiders and insects are invertebrates
This kurzgesagt clone looking fire 🔥
Came to say the same but I feel Kurzgesagt artstyle and way of explaining things is the best.
Kurzgesagt’s style is cartoony yet somewhat professional. This is purely professional.

Thankyou Ark for giving me a gist of knowledge and a thirst for more
It's worth noting these creatures did not all necessarily live at the same time. For example, Pulmonoscorpius lived in the early carboniferous, where as Meganeura lived in the late carboniferous.
Living in the Triassic and Jurassic periods would have been a nightmare with extreme climate change, terrible weather, giant insects, and enormous ocean predators. Life on Earth millions of years ago was extremely terrifying.
"70cm about the size of a pigeon" thats a scary assed pigeon
It's an average pigeon. Depending on species, slightly smaller than average even.
@@Sirithil just checked on 70cm ruler to make sure and you have scary assed pigeons there where you live lol
@@KapitanOgor Thats the same thing i was thinking and commented at , thats the size of a seagull, lol, as a cnc machinist i know what 70 cm is ,like 700mm, another 350 cm and it gets out of a lathe

@@kiurtosh I live in a metric country so I know how big 70 cm is in an instant but you know just looked at a ruler to double check it and imagine a pigeon on it ;) half of that would be already a large like a really large one... btw just checked and there are fancy peacock style 70cm pigeons - Victoria crowned pigeon... lol we only have those small peasant type pigeons that sh..t everywhere ;)
Now the real question: Dino world or giant spider world?
Giant capybara world
@@Baumstumpf.Ok I pull up
The ones with lesser limbs are eadier to predict their movements off.
Their still faster and you definally need full mediaval style body armor and a shield and heavy firepower to go against just 1 of them but you can at least predict some of their movements and defend, just dont forget to reload and pack enough ammo.
Also, dinosaurs are louder then insects so they wont catch you by suprise unless you're deaf and unlike insects who dont have vocal cords only the small ones can be silent enough to miss.
I think i can take on at least 1 raptor with full body armor and a shield and my own boom stick with around 20 shots
Yeah, i think bears are stronger then those raptors out jurrassic park, they might be faster but 1 hit to the face and it's game over for that scaled faced doom chicken.
Now the real question: Take yout meds & come back to reality or don't?
There were no deciduous trees and no pine trees in the Carboniferous. They came much later, in the early Cretaceous.
I had to stop this animation after a minute or so. It’s much to inaccurate.
I won’t sugarcoat it but ⬇️⬅️➡️⬇️⬇️
Although there is a numerous complexity code to a seemingly infinite, yet definitely finite function of comprehensive understanding of our planet or even ourselves from this standpoint, our life cannot sustain ourselves on just what one thing do for us. That's why we ask more than what life will mean when break our own understandings through judgment, so characteristics of knowing and not knowing incerceptously concluding importance, especially if this code could maybe only described one way, that codex is our implementation of logic and reasoning, a fundamental basis of grasping concepts so we make sense of what we describe in literature. Insects were big because of open body circulatory systems and high oxygen. Not a mystery

Why not?
Because you tube never misses an opportunity to push leftist propaganda.

@@saranganil4814 an exact copy of someone else can’t be underrated because they’re an exact copy of a channel that isn’t underrated, that’s the whole reason why the chose this style
@@BruceExplainsDude, chill out. Kurz is a channel with over 10 years of expertise in this area. They've amassed a lot of fans (including me!) and has a much higher budget. This channel is one of the few that takes effort in animation and EVEN THOUGH the dialogues are an exact copy of Wikipedia, I for one would absolutely appreciate anyone who could make it much more digestible by animating and taking the effort to narrate rather than read plane text. Also, animating a video is no joke, and I can safely assume that this vid took at least 50-60 hrs just to sketch and animate (my estimate could be way off so correct me if I'm wrong). Plus, kurz's super old vids (I'm talking 10+ yrs back vids) all of them were info that was publicly available and the only difference was that they drew infographic posters animated it, and compared to that these guys did a much better job.
Finally, if more and more channels produce vids like kurz, then it's better for everyone cuz everyone gets to watch high quality animated videos. And I'm not saying that these vids are as good as kurz's, but it's not far off. Idk about you, but I learned a thing or two from this vid so yeah, I would always support growing channels which have the potential to become really good at what they're doing.
@@BruceExplainsAlso, I don't care if it's a kurz clone or not, as long as they don't spread wrong info and does a good job of explaining things well, I don't see why I shouldn't support them. And I like their animation style which is different.
SPIDER ARE NO INSECTS GODDAMN
Thank you for you upload!
Insects were bigger.........it depends on the oxygen content of the atmosphere because insects respirate differntly a dragon fly was about 2 feet they werent excactly giants, ants were as big bombadier beetles
Yeah, I'd day 20 seconds later after being in such an environment. No natural causes, no accidents. I'd see a 2 meters long centipede and I'd snap my own neck flawlessly in no time
I’m more into the expanding earth theory than the continental drift theory.. and a smaller earth would have had a lot less gravity and I’ve seen different electromagnetic fields can effect the size of animals and probably plants as well..
The community note about climate change being human driven in a video that involves climate change 300million years ago 😂. Good one UA-cam.

“Age of Giant Insects”
Yeah, it’s called Nausicaa of the valley of the wind. It’s a Miyazaki masterpiece 😂
This such high quality greay job!
A part of me wonders if the reason we have insect phobias is because our distant ancestors first left the ocean to a land covered in gigantic insects. I'll bet some of our direct ancestors were eaten whole by insects hundreds of millions of years ago. Perhaps the genetic memory of that is what has reawakened in Homo Sapiens as we encountered venomous insects while hunting and gathering.
😂 i only clicked on it because I thought it was kergetzsagt ,was like " what the heck ?? The narrator changed !??" Lol
the demiurge of the universe probably says we'd all eat each other until we hold hands
Can you please include imperial/us customary measurements for your American/British viewers, even if simply adding them in post just alongside on screen numbers please
I mean, at least it's a different English guy...I think...or did Kurzgesagt AI him?
Can we get some inches & feet for the Americans who have no clue how big these creatures are? It’s not our fault our schools didn’t teach us metric
The metrics he's using don't do these insects justice, 70 cm just doesn't hit as hard as saying it was over 2 feet long lol
Hey, cool that you are doing these types of videos, but it’s not cool copying another Chanel’s arts
I can actually fall asleep to this so I like it a little better than kurszg. Like they are good but they are also about existence and this video here is nature
Yes that's true
I thought insects were so huge back then because of the % oxygen in the air allowing them to grow massive sizes.
So spiders have always been the same size? Cool to know
LMAO!!!!!! There was no age of “giant insects”. This video is a bunch of nonsense.
Im researching on paleozoic insects and can only say that this video sadly provides a lot of misinformation.
I'm gonna take a wild guess and say every other living thing HATED it.
The transitions are much more natural and flowing than the last video
"What if we do the whole kurgesagt thing but with much cheaper animation?"
Thing is, all of these are probably ai now. Not typed stuff anymore.
these giant insects resulted from the high levels of oxygen in the atmosphere, which allowed them to grow to sizes much larger than they are today.
