Just had to mention that my 98 year old mother in law uses email, WhatsApp, Facebook ,sends msgs and videos to all the family in uk and regularly Skypes her daughter in New Zealand. She is amazing. And she’d probably give this a listen if I showed it to her which is more than others in my family. She’s a star and inspiration . We sometimes forget that they have been young and still have memories of being young , and if their mind is well we should never underestimate them.

I think the biggest problem with old people trying new things is a lot of them unfortunately have an extreme reluctance and shut things down instantly. My grandmother and grandfather are total opposites in that way. Grandfather taught me to always keep an open mind because when things stay the same life stops being exciting.

These guys are legit. As far as i know pete (short guy with a goatee) his dad was a og British mafia dude and bas (tall guy) was a street kid who became a professional boxer. They do everything themselves the only help they get is petes grandaughter help them with modern slang. These guys are 100. Its easy to tell, you look into these guys eyes and you know they have seen death. These guys are legitimate old-school Gangstas. Sure theres comedic value because they are old but dont underestimate the fact that these guys have lived that life.
I fully agree with you regarding people not appreciating Drill. Personally, I am more of an old school Hip-Hop head because I can generally hear more musicality and flows in a track but I think what most people do not grasp is that any old school Hip-Hop which people still listen to has had to stand the test of time - we only listen to the cream, as it were. Drill is quite new and current (by comparison at least) and, as a result, there is a lot of chaff still mixed in with the wheat. The fact is though, there is no reason whatsoever that a good quality Drill track can not be on par with a classic Hip-Hop track in terms if bars and flows. What I would say however, for me, is that an average Hip-Hop track sounds better than an average Drill track. I would also say that it is probably slightly easier for someone to get away with being a lower quality MC in Drill music so long as the beat is fire but, at the same time, a good quality Drill MC will struggle to carry a poor quality Drill beat. It is kind of the opposite for me with classic Hip-Hop, where you cannot really gloss over a poor quality MC with just a really good beat, but a good quality Hip-Hop MC is still able to lift up a poor beat. That may be just my opinion though. Nevertheless, as someone who would not class myself as a fan of Drill music, I can absolutely still recognise and appreciate a good quality Drill track and, for me, Pete & Bas are quality. To be honest though, whilst Pete & Bas are definitely Drill artists, there is a Hip-Hop edge to their lyricism and "articulation" as you put it.
I love hip-hop, grime and Dnb with all my heart, but I absolutely hate 99% of drill. I just think it is all so similar, same flows and really simple rhymes and it is destroying rap music and turning it into pop music. I love Pete and Bas though, probably because (other than them being amazing rappers) their beats sound more like grime than drill to me.
@@JL-xz3zf yeah, I can’t disagree for a large amount of it. Part of it I think is what I outline above, another part is that there is just no real vetting of quality music anymore. A very average MC can make a video and stick it on YT, get views and become a thing within a week or 2 now, whereas in the past you would need to gig, do shows and make bona fide records before anyone took any notice. I couldn’t believe it when Digga D, one of the biggest names in the genre, was booked to do a show and in the soundcheck he stated he had “never played live before”!! I mean, Digga is 1 of the few who, whilst I ain’t hugely into his music I can see some talent there, but for him to be as big as he is and to have never played live is amazing to me (at least at that point in his career he hadn’t played live, he has now & I believe he’s pretty decent live from what I’ve heard)
