Forgot to mention that you may need to install the groff package if you don't already have it, you can easily obtain it for example on Ubuntu/Debian: apt install groff
Back in the day, before the web and search engines really took off, man pages were essential. I still use them on occasion if I'm on a server and just want to quickly look up something. Nice video!
Thank you! These linux basics videos are super helpful! You make it look so easy to do this stuff that it's inspiring me to teach myself a lot of very useful things recently.
Awesome, thank you! I was just working on a project where I implemented a systemd unit file (might be a good quick video too!), and my next task was to make a man command for it! You just made that a whole lot easier!
Great video. I didn't know where exactly the manual pages were located, nor that it was so easy to create one yourself. I assume that the manuel pages which come with software packages will be placed at the manpath by the package manager?
Instead of copying and pasting from your terminal the path from your previous command, you could have just pressed Escape and then period at the end of your copy command.

I love that you can bootstrap all the needed information by just reading already available documentation on the system.

When testing man page functionality, I just set the MANPATH environment variable.

I've always wanted to write a manpage.... Neato.
I think this is the first video I've seen of yours where it's been filmed at an actual non-crazy late (or early) hour
