I've been in SSDI for 6 years and I can no longer afford my expenses. I plan on starting work next month and I was really nervous about it. Thank you for this video. It was really helpful and informative. I'm feeling more confident 🙂
This is the BEST channel about Social Security. You have just answered my questions in a concise and understandable way. I just subbed and sent a lil YT "thanks" so you can enjoy a 🍺! Thank you!
Over 50 views and one to three thumbs up I think we can do better folks. Give credit where credit is due. It doesn’t hurt to give a thumbs up nor will it take from the Social Security fund😂 I must say, Dr. Ed. Offers the Best information on the web. Clear, concise and straight to the point. Not the dog, not the cat not even the fluff oh, and definitely not under cover politicking towards one candidate or another- along with trying to add fear I might add.

I'm a little confused. I understand that if I stop working, because of a disability, I can apply for SSDI, and then when I get it, I can start working while on SSDI. BUT, can I apply and get SSDI while I'm currently working or do I have to stop working to get SSDI? I can't afford to not work for up to one year while I wait for benefits. I've already quit my full-time job and got a part-time job, but I'm barely managing to work 5.5 hrs a day and so I'm looking to reduce my hours again, which could bring me under $1550 a month, gross income.
Can I opt to not go through a Ticket to Work contracted agency, and do my own job search???? If I choose to do that, how do I set it up. Do I call my local SSA office ask for an appt. and then tell them I want to do it on my own and then they set up what a system like the Employment n Trai ING or what is tge procedure????

I have a very specific question. I am blind and I am on SSDI. My kids receive SSDI payments off of my accounts. None of them are disabled. My children are coming into their teenagers ages 14, 15 and almost 16. They are wanting to work here in the next few years. When I lose their Social Security benefits if they begin working? They currently receive $666 in SSDI benefits off of my account, if they start working, is there a limit that they can make before I lose their payments or would it affect their payments at all? Would it affect any of my pay that I receive which is currently $1411 if they were to work? And how would I deal with their taxes when it comes time to doing their taxes in the future since they were under the age of 18?

I’m assuming, a person 65 who is receiving SSDI -offered part time employment can continue til FRA and potentially continue working without interruption ??

So if somebody is blind and has an income on SSDI and they make less than the $2509 a month they’re allowed to keep their full SSDI plus their work? For instance, if somebody makes $1000 a month they’re allowed to keep their full SSDI benefits, plus the thousand dollars a month 15:0615:1315:15

My thoughts would be they probably switch you to SSI then. That's the only other option there is.
