@@andrematulich2091 Nope, she aint. She won the prize for US best slide guitarist over such as Ry Cooder some years ago... But oc she´s underrated in the modern world of commercial scrap music.
i discovered I was in love with her and her voice and guitar when I was 21... I'm going be 69 next month... this combination... brings my favorite blues people into one place... it doesn't get any better, y'all
I caught Taj Mahal's show last Friday evening in Chicago.... awesome! If you get the chance to see him perform live, run don't walk... he's so very talented and a real showman.....
bonnies got the blues way down in her heart. love her. she is the best at everything she does. one of the best blues singers around. the great ones don't have to scream "look at me" they just play and let the music do the talking.
I just stumbled on this.. WOW.. two great blues players together.. both have been around a long time.. I remember. LOL.. just amazes me how good they sound together.. LOve it ... JUst love it .
my sister and I have been Bonnie fans since the 70's sis gave her a ring at a concert she did at a collage in Pa. and she had it on in a picture in her next album
Much thanks saw Taj back in 95 had tickets for bonnie around 98 missed it cause of truck problems burnt one ticket and treasure the other man I cried great vid thanks again
love how the old bluesmen can play a guitar and stomp and have such a full sound when i try this it just sounds like a guy playing guitar and stamping when they do it it sounds just right!
It was the summer of '86 or '87 when my wife and I saw Taj Mahal playing a solo acoustic gig at the State College Art fest. He gave a great performance but I thought it odd that such a great musician was playing such a laid back and small venue. Still, I sure won't complain.
Did you know they met when they were both in college? They used to preform at the Gas Light I think, memory is fading but they have known each other since before Taj made it big with the soundtrack of "Sounder"
I saw them together at Skidmore College in what I'm guessing was either 1971 or 72. Taj was the headliner; Bonnie had just put out her first album. I didn't realize that they knew each other until reading your post. For about a half hour before the show, they sat on the side of the stage jamming as if they had just met and were able to gel beautifully from the start. That was really the best part of the show. There were no mics on, but being in the first row, we had quite a musical experience!

Bonnie Raitt showcases her acclaimed slide skills as she duets, for the first time, with country blues and world music legend Taj Mahal as the two perform “Done Changed My Way of Living” on The Today Show on July 7, 2009.
Agree;Dunno;Agree;Agree;Definitely Agree(that's certain);Partially Agree(Miss.Fred McDowell was worthy of that title).Begining to regret my curiosity to see TAJ in this clip & having the temerity to express an opinion..love & peace y'all.
so... Taj Mahal... = lucky guy B Rait... you are on holy ground darlin I'm making a gold palladium alloy in my lab... it rings like a bell... I'm starting with aluminum... like a 10" ex aluminum pie pan I use to clean and roll on... if ya know what I mean?... and I was looking at it... thinking about an old friend... Mr Dupero in Escondido, California... invented the Dobro guitar... that really nice gold palladium pie pan would make a dandy guitar squawker or whatever you call em... I'll see what I can come up with
@71sunset ... Bonnie was tearing it up (and pretty highly respected) as a serious blues woman before she started making more pop-oriented music (and finallly some money) in the late 70's, beginning with "Sweet Forgiveness". She always had great chops; just not much commercial success before she started with the pop music.
I don't have an Elton John or Lou Reed. ;) But I do like rich hippie activist chicks who perform with the recognized blues artists of her day and win 10 Grammies in the doing.
Good4U,& big deal.My 1st comment rests as is.How many Grammys did the people I mentioned win??Grammys my arse-Taj should have a bucket load!Starting with The Natch'l Blues-if not the previous. But Eric Clapton...oohhh,wow.Same old historic crap(ask BB King)So yr comment is not only misguided, but ignorant.
I'll take yr word for it,b321.Now back to yr Elton John & Lou Reed..Bessie,Billie,Memphis Minnie & Tracy Chapman will do me fine, just for starters. The End.
Love Taj,but BR leaves me cold-easy to see why here..sorry Bonnie lovers!TM gigantic..BR a minnow.Personal reaction only-no dirt throwing meant..Bonnie respected Fred McD,'nuff said.
Sorry,my initial comment was for literate people.I even apologized in advance to her fans!Yours was nasty & incorrect in it's suggestion(if you don't dig BR,yr gay)So,who's the PITA?BUT ,b123,we have at least found common ground-re.liking Taj since the 60's,& on EC.Let's leave it at that,ok?Cheers
UA-cam videos are like a party where the song poster invites others to come and enjoy. "BR leaves me cold-easy to see why here." Yeah, nothing but grimaces from Taj always warms a partner. "Same old historic crap." b. NYC; raised in Mass. listening to jazz. Taj is natch'l for Mississippi blues Since you didn't ask, I don't like Clapton's blues. I like Taj since 1969. Now go troll. Every party has an asshole who comes just to complain about the food, the drinks. who else was invited.
Bonnie and Taj, a match made in blues heaven. 🧡
Again with underrated
Try Bad Ass.Go Girl.
Bonnie's an amazing and underrated blues guitarist. The way she picks and slide in the same tune is outstanding. Woman's got soul
Wil Morris - Bonnie is not under rated. She is simply fantastic and most blues lovers do acknowledge that.

I would'nt call her under rated! She smokes the guitar !

i discovered I was in love with her and her voice and guitar when I was 21... I'm going be 69 next month... this combination... brings my favorite blues people into one place...

I love it. Great!!
I LUV THAT WOMAN!!!!!!!!
This is how the blues ought to be played! With respect, it is strict 'TIME' that ruins the modern blues. The old masters never worried about time!

Bonnie's one of the few people that belong up there with Taj.

They're 2 GR8's; Ya'll get over the idiosyncratic BS!
Why are they so fuckin out of rythm?? They destroy the whole blues by being ofsync like that...
wonderful
