Thanks for all your support!
I'm sad all you booktubers have to state that you aren't attacking people for not liking their favorite books. You tried to read it and couldn't. Nothing wrong with that!
I know! I hate it too, but I’d rather say something so I can prevent receiving hateful comments.
So true. I get it. I just wish people didn't get that upset over things like that. By the way, I agree with you on Beautiful Creatures. I loved the first. The rest was meh.
Willow Star Serenity EXACTLY
Jesse: It's spring time!
The UK: Torrential snow and howling blizzards.
Can all my Europeans relate.
minha iqbal ikr my school was legit closed today because of the snow but im not complaining as it gave me a lie in
Canadians can relate
Can't relate.. I am a European but it never snows here.. We have a Mediterranean climate..
minha iqbal I’m from the uk
Is jessie in Australia
I missed shady Jesse though hahaha
Jesse is always so happy and optimistic AND ITS JUST REALLY NICE
agree
I love how people get mad when people don't like their favorite books... PEOPLE HAVE THE RIGHT TO DISLIKE ANY BOOK THEY CHOOSE.
Agreed.
YES!
Abby Gail unless it's Percy jackson
Yes! You either like Percy Jackson or you’re wrong😂👌🏽
Abby Gail My cousin is wrong
I keep my books in such good shape that if I don't like one I'll give it as a gift😂😂😂
I have watched quite a few booktubers - you are by far the most informative, funny, cute and constructive.
A lot of people are just rambling on and on, while you really only say pointed things. It's already fun to just watch your head pop up on the screen, nonetheless I kind of fear that one day you'll get a brain concussion by woooshing onto the screen :P
ah thanks so much! as someone who constantly thinks they're not good at reviewing books, this is nice to hear!
also i totally have neck pain because of the whoosh, but i just can't say goodbye to it. XD
this 'whoosh' is the reason why i love watching your videos😂
and the video topics he picks are also really really good... very different from the usual ones. Aren't they?
I love watching book unhauls coz sometimes they save me a lot of money 😂 also there's no problem with unhauling books even if it's my fav we all have different opinions.
Ps: Jesse looks so cute in pink it complement him 😊❤
he truly does look cute in pink. hehe
School has been cancelled because of snow and Jesse uploaded. WHAT MORE COULD I WANT?!?!
Yay for snow days!
jessethereader 😊
I'm so jealous!!😤😤
Jen R. Omg same here! The country's on lockdown cos of the snow
The *World's* on lockdown because of covid 19
I appreciate the way that you’re unhauling things and that you agree that everyone should have their own opinions, it adds to my list of things that I love about you! :)
jesse i trust your opinion a lot when it comes to book reviews, you grown so much as a reviewer!!
I’ve unhauled books recently too, it is sooo relaxing.
Ikr, and re-organising them afterwards? It's the best feeling.
"Pauses video at 2:07, hits up google."
TheMeanandNice same
I still don't know what's up with him can someone explain please?
I didn't see anything, what did y'all find on him?
Apparently he made some homophobic comments, that´s what came up to me when I looked it up
Camila Armani okay thank you!
I LOVE THE PINK! YOU LOOK SO CUTE AND I LOVE HOW YOU AREN'T AFRAID TO WEAR WHAT YOU LOVE! I LOVE IT, YOU'RE MY INSPIRATION
Idk why its a big deal for guys to wear pink. I didn't even notice he was wearing it until I saw your comment 😂
youre right, its not a big deal. But it's important to me that while some people think it is a big deal, there are people like Jesse who doesnt think its a big deal, so I was saying I thought that was awesome :)
I can't even imagine you having disrespectful rant reviews! you seem so optimistic and nice lol
"Separate the art from the artist" I totally agree with this. Creations never do anything wrong.
Boy i love your book reviews, they are entertaining and you also get your point across without rambling
It always pains me to get rid of books but I usually keep them with no intention of rereading them. I did recently get rid of the entire maze runner series and 13 reasons why after that list of sexual harassers blew up on Twitter. I never even started reading the maze runner series so it was easy to get rid of. I was losing interest in trying to read it anyway. But 13 reasons why was difficult. I read it in middle school and at the time it seemed like a great book. But I wasn't a critical reader back then. I retread it just before the Netflix show aired and was greatly disappointed. I didn't like the way suicide or mental health was handled and I didn't feel like this was a story that the author should have told after reading a q and a in the back of the book. It was inspired by the daughter of a friend of his and how she attempted to kill herself. After reading that, the idea of leaving tapes behind just seemed really messed up. So I got rid of that book too, although it was a painful decision.
What happened with 13 reasons why? I seem to have missed something, as I keep seeing many authors being called out recently?
L Rose basically, both James Dashner and Jay Asher have been named as (don't quote me on that, I dunno whether they're confirmed or just accused) sexual predators. Doesn't surprise me to be honest, but I got rid of 13RW and I'm never gonna read maze runner anyway
Hunter Crumpley yea Hannah at AClockworkReader does a good job of describing 13 reasons why and how it wrongfully puts blame on the other characters in the book
I'm new to this channel and it's already one of my number one favorites uwu
Ah thanks so much!
Same here. Only subscribed a couple weeks ago, and loving his videos! They make me so happy!
As someone who is a perfectionist and a clean freak, getting rid of books seems so satisfying.
Every now and then I do a big book un-haul. It feels great to make room on my shelves for things i'm gonna love so much more. I also love watching un-haul videos because there have been so many times where i've gotten halfway through a series when I was younger, collected the rest of them, and plan to re-read them, and then a booktuber's un-haul vid will point out a lot of things that were wrong with that series, or even standalone books that I got ages ago, that I didn't notice at the time.
I hold onto things. L😉L It's like a snapshot of a few days, week or times in my life. It's fascinating to me. 😊
I used to have the 'keep all the books' mentality, but eventually I began to run out of space and I had to move a couple of times. It really changed my perspective to making sure that my physical books were ones which I've loved, rather than 'all the books I've ever read'. That's what my goodreads is for.
I loved that you talked about your progression as a booktuber and learning the importance of respectful reviews! Always love your videos because you're so respectful to the author and/or people who love the book
WAIT!!!! have we finally found a book with an adaptation that surpasses it's source material?!
You're happiness and positivity is so contagious. I'm tired, stressed out from school, then I turn on a Jesse video then BOOM! Happier.
You should read Gillian Flynn's Novels, they're thrillers that give a lot of detail and relationship of the characters.. She's the author of Gone Girl (which is actually my least favourite), and i find her writing style quite intriguing.
I love to watch people uhaul books because it helps with my anxiety that I'll give a book away and regret it. The way you do it is so respectful and I appreciate it. Thanks for changing your mind about posting unhaul videos.
Last time I unhauled my books I also got rid of my beautiful creatures books. I bought a box set and couldn’t even finish the first one! They are gorgeous but I did not enjoy reading them and they are HUGE!!!! They were taking so much space! And now I’ve filled that space with books that I absolutely adore ♥️
I have a hard time getting rid of any of my books, even if I didn't enjoy them. I tend to view each of my books as a sort of memory, and I like looking back on them to remember how I experienced each one! Even if I didn't like this book it was still an experience I had, and it's something I like to remember, and to grow from.
Omg love your shirt
I love it when guys wear pink lol
For me, I only keep books I've loved or liked. If there's a book I didn't like, I don't want it on my shelves cause its a constant reminder of what could have been! I think especially for the ones I paid full price for I have to get rid of them or else every time I look at them I remember the guilt. I just know that there has got to be someone who will enjoy it more than I would and I don't want it weighing down my shelves anyway! Super interesting video! I love unhauls not because of the let down of a book leaving and not in good standing but because for me its another way to find books that I might enjoy even if someone else didnt! Nice video!
I love this video so much because your optimism and respect towards the authors is just so great. You've given me so many book recommendations that have been so incredible, so thank you Jesse!!💗
This really made me think about doing this myself. I have such a hard time getting rid of things because I feel bad, it’s like I’m afraid they have feelings. But I think it’s time I do this or even put some in boxes until I can get a bookshelf like yours!
Thank you jesse for being you! ❤️❤️
I get rid of books every now and then too. Most often, it's books that I read years ago and don't plan on reading again, or collections that I never completed. I recently donated my entire Tea Stilton collection (that I read when I was 10 or 11) bc I had just grown out of it. C'est la vie!
I totally agree with you on your opinion on mosquitoland I couldn’t get through it and I was confused to see how much hype was around it
I truly enjoy watching your unhaul videos and i like knowing your oppinion as to why you are getting rid of them. Moreover it gives me an idea of whether i should read those books and wether they are good or not. Hope you keep making these videos 😊
never unhauled a book, I just cannot make myslef to do this xd
I unhaul books I either don’t like or they have been sitting on my shelves for years and I know I’m never going I pick them up. Plus it is just so refreshing cleaning out your shelves and seeing you have more room for more books :)
Jesse is the definition of unproblematic. God hecking bless
The Shanara Chronicals is such a good TV show! My husband and I watched both seasons last month!
I'm definitely the kind of person that struggles to get rid of my books. But, last year I did do a bookshelf purge and got rid of 50ish books and made room for new ones, so it all worked out in the end! Pushing through the pain of letting go was definitely worth it.
OMG Slide sounds so good! I'm probably going to check it out
This month I unhauled 40 books... But then I obtained 30, so I'm not good at balance lol. And they were either ones I read and didn't like or I had them like you said cause they were a gift. Or because I picked them up because they were super cheap or free but realized I'd probably never get to them
I used to keep all my books but recently read a book about tidying up that helped me realize it is okay to let go so I got rid of books I didn’t care for anymore. It was such a relief to do so and I will be decluttering my shelves once a year from now on :)
Yes Jesse UNHAUL THOSE BOOKS! I recognized so many books in this video, true jesse the reader fan for years now.
Love you and your videos so much! I watch every single one and every time I get a notification that you’ve posted it and your smiling face always brighten my day. Thank you for all you do xx
I'm so happy you feel confident enough to do another one of these, especially after what happened with the last one, i love to watch these kind of videos, mainly from people whose opinions i almost always agree with so i know what not to read, thanks Jesse
I just went to look for the unhaul before this one and the comments were disabled. :O :O Was it really that bad?? What happened?
A lot of people were butthurt over some of the books in the video and decided to hate on Jesse, so he disabled the comments, just a regular day on the internet with people who think that if you dont have the same opinions you are shit compered to them
3:32 yeey for character development 👏🏽
You're so awesome. I love your videos, whenever I have a reading slump I watch your videos and you inspire me to read!
I am a HUGE fan of Poisoned Apples but hehe, I'm glad you gave it a chance. Also, you're an amazing reviewer and you seem like an amazing person 🖤 I love how you can be critical without being disrespectful. Lovely video. I needed this at the end of my day.
WOAh jesse isn't wearing blue😱...SHOOK
When getting rid of books, I usually go for ones that I’ve DNFed, or know that I’ve just lost interest in. I really think of the process as, someone else has the capability to enjoy the book more than I did. And like you said, it creates more room for new books that you’re going to love in the future.
Omg i've unhauled 20 books yesterday and it was soooo good to get rid of them and giving them to people that maybe will enjoy the book. Love your videos!
I love book unhauls because so many books I buy from Booktube Hypes and I never get to them during the hype and it makes me feel motivated to do the same with my shelves
unhauls are always great cause it's nice to declutter sometimes :D
I love unhaul books! Especially jesse’s :)
Your voice is really soothing an calming 🌸
When I moved from NY to FL I had a LOT less space for my 200+ books and ended up donating like 75 of them. It was sad at the time but I honestly didn’t need them all and wasn’t going to read them again so I’m glad I did it!
Baby pink is definitely your color!
I love to hang onto my books, but I run into storage space issues. Luckily I can donate them to my library (where I also work) and still revisit them if I want. It's like having a spare jumbo-sized book shelf.
God bless you Jess you are one of the few UA-camrs whose voice is so pretty! Whose personality is even better! And whose heart and dedication is over and beyond! Love you Jess! Love your reviews! So much effort! Love the whoosh! Little tip- try to sit straight or sleep straight or try some neck exercises ( clockwise and anticlockwise) so you don't get neck pain! ❤❤❤
Jesse, i respect you so much for how you are such a good person. I can’t say that about every person i meet, because they are all just selfish. You respect all the subscribers and their opinions. You are so awesome!
I always get sad when booktubers say they're not attacking people who like books they don't like. People are allowed to have any opinion they want! (Also you have really good reviews Jesse)
BEAUTIFUL CREATURES ARE BEAUTIFUL!
By Kiersten White I also highly recommend The Chaos of Stars, it's really good!
Jesse, you should bring back your awesome bookstagram theme you had in January. Your photography and Photoshop was so cool!
Every single book- “it’s just soooo beautiful”... Same Jesse, same 😂💓
I've only ever unhauled books once but I admire your ability to unhaul. I find it so difficult to get rid of books because even if they're ones that I've not enjoyed or lost interest in they still feel like a part of me 😂❤
The best booktuber I have ever seen in my *LIFE* !!!❤
My friend does a Book Donation in December, and all the books she gets from it go to children ages 5-21 in the local hospitals to enjoy. So I save up all the books i either didnt like, only keeping it because of the cover, or that i just simply wont be getting to it or lost interest in it, to her. I only give away books if i know they going to somebody who will take care of them, or going to a good cause such as the donation that my friend does
I always set aside the books that I don't like to get rid of them later. Best to keep the book shelves open for new books that I may end up loving! Sometimes, even after I initially finish a book and think that I enjoyed it, I go back to it later and decide that It wasn't that great after all.
ahh! I was actually just going to ask if you would ever do one of these and here it is!! I love watching these
Whenever I read a book that I didn't really enjoy, I usually give it to my mother to put them in her classroom. She's a Jr High English teacher and she likes having books about for the kids to read during SSR. But I don't give her the teen/adult books, those are usually above reading level for JR High. Also can't give her ones that have any mention of sex. All these books I don't like and can't give to my mother- I don't know what to do with them. I boxed them up and put them in the garage for now, but I want a real place to send them.
citywolfwarrior if you live in a big city or like a decent sized town you can donate it to teen recreational centers in bad parts of town, that's what I do or you can sell them to half price books.
Try donating them to libraries, and/or selling them at a yard sale or online.
oof my 8th grade english teacher had City Of Glass in the class library so uhh😂
@@paigeberni2821 oh my god. im reading that right now. It's amazing!
Wait. Teen/adult books are usually above the reading level for junior high? I haven't had that experience, so it's kind of surprising. I never really thought of that. Also, I never really had any aversions to books with mature content, even as a middle(or junior high)/elementary schooler. This could just be me, because I've always had a pretty high reading level (I had a college reading level in seventh grade, and a tenth or eleventh in sixth grade) I never really thought about what reading levels were.
Edit: As I'm proof reading this, I sound really full of myself. I'm sorry, I didn't mean it to sound that way 😂
I love your positive and constructive approach to this community, even when unhauling hahah
Past Jesse was a savage 😂😂
I just did my own mini unhaul, feels so good. Most of mine are books that I read, sometimes even enjoyed but just feel meh about now. I’m never going to reread them so I may as well clear up the space for something else 😊
yaasss!! It's raining outside and you uploaded a video! What a great way to spend the evening! Thank you Jesse :D
Ah the best! Love rainy days.
Sydney T it's raining where I am as Well.
JESSE PLEASE DONT STOP MAKING INHAULS BECAUSE OF OTHER PEOPLES COMMENTS. YOU BE YOU BOO AND STAY POSITIVE❤️❤️
I had a very stressed day, but im so relaxed now listening to this💕
A good thriller that I would recommend is *You by Caroline Kepnes*, it's the story of a girl being stalked, written from the perspective of the stalker. I didn't actually finish it, because it started to give me nightmares. It was really good, and really well written. It just scared me.
I got rid of 450 books and I haven't read them all. I just bought so many when I got my first job and they were so cheap and I'd go thrift shopping and buy books I wasn't super into. I still have a huge collection but I'm happy to see those books go.
I donate my books after reading them since I have found great books at second hand stores that I normally wouldn’t of purchased at full price so I want to share the karma. Hopefully people who pick up and buy my books enjoy them as much as I did and bring them back to repeat the cycle!
I personally am okay with getting rid of the books I have either read and did not like or TBR books that I for sure know that I will never get around to. It's like you said, getting rid of the books you do not want anymore gives way to other books that I would rather have on my shelves instead of ones that i didnt quite vibe with~
Gotta say this shirt colour looks great
Jesse, I've been following your channel for almost two years now and I just want to say that you made me get rid of my books, before watching your videos I kind of wanted to keep all of them, but you made me realize it's okay to not like a book. I just donated 20 books to my local library, so thank you💙
Btw, I do feel sad because you're not going to read the second book of the Half Bad trilogy, I loved it, it gets better, I promise.
I don't have the space I used to and as a result I have to be pretty particular about the number of books I keep. So I decided that if it didn't get at least a 4 star rating from me, it would be forwarded to friends or donated. That makes the decision pretty easy and I don't end up with books on the shelf that I know I won't read again.
I used to get rid of books I disliked, mainly because I haven't got that much room at home, but I've gotten to a point in which I like all books on my shelves, so I don't want to get rid of some of my books anymore. Can't wait to get my own place and have room for a new bookshelf
Lol spring time whereeeee🤣 here in Michigan we got 5 inches of snow and I got a snow day sooo lol
I LOVE UNHAULS❣❣❣AND THEY ARE BETTER IF THEY ARE YOURS☺☺😗
I don’t like getting rid of books, but I do because my mom wants me to and I don’t have the kind of space you do for bookshelves etc. I get rid of them if I honestly believe I’m not going to ever read them or if I didn’t like them. I have made exceptions for covers that were really really beautiful.
For me, a book unhaul video even with loved books for many people shows me i should trust your opinions & Channel
I sometimes give away paperbacks, but the hardcovers I normally keep unless I really, really hate them. If I thought they were okay, but I didn’t LOVE them, I just keep them as a part of my collection :)
I love clearing stuff out - even books. Hoping to do an unhaul soon :)
Can't wait to see you at Book Con Jesse!! And I like your book reviews you get to the point and dont ramble aimlessly .
Yay! Can't wait to meet you!
I’ve gotten rid of a few books here and there, but wow it’s difficult for me. I’m the same way about seeing them as trophies hehe. I even get iffy about giving away doubles. Even books I haven’t read, thinking about giving books away kind of feels like giving tiny pieces of myself away, as that’s what books are to me! Even so, my bookshelf room is nonexistent so I may have to consider this...
I'm actually doing a big book unhaul at the moment :) they're usually books I haven't read or ones I didn't enjoy reading.
All my books live with my parents, two years ago my mother and I went through all the books in the house and got rid of so many (hundreds, I jokingly say I'm going to the library when I'm going to stay with my parents, the bedrooms are mostly bookshelves at this point). I found it hard to get rid of books that had meant something to me when I was a child and teen, but otherwise I rather liked throwing things away, and now I get rid of books I didn't like very much after keeping them on a shelf for a while (my feelings towards books often change once some time has passed since I read them).
100% recommend "Kids of Appetite" by David Arnold. Perfect for a second chance and one of my fave books.
