Hours after Helene was upgraded to a tropical storm, the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency is holding a news conference to discuss the state’s preparations.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Tropical Storm Helene is expected to hit Florida on Thursday night as a Category 3 hurricane. By the time it reaches north Georgia, it will likely be a tropical storm. Current models show the storm system passing directly over Atlanta.
