Sloka 64: The so-called happiness of this material creation is exactly like the bees’ enjoyment of honey after it has been collected in the honeycomb.
My dear Lord, after creating by Your own potencies, You enter within the creation in four kinds of forms. Being within the hearts of the living entities, You know them and know how they are enjoying their senses.
Sloka 65: My dear Lord, Your absolute authority cannot be directly experienced, but one can guess by seeing the activities of the world that everything is being destroyed in due course of time. The force of time is very strong, and everything is being destroyed by something else - just as one animal is being eaten by another animal. Time scatters everything, exactly as the wind scatters clouds in the sky.

Wanting Gods help for your child's life when its life and death - is not selfish desire. Its love its devotion because we have faith God is supreme father who cares and provides our needs.
Needs are not desires
When a person does not have food to eat, he will desire food to eat. Why will he ask for realisation from God?
I agree. I was just scrolling through the comments. Having needs is different from having wants. I feel like I’m confused after listening to Swamiji. It seems very complex. How does one not desire to be free of suffering or wanting partner or getting job? I guess the Bhagavad Geeta is the key.
I just talked with my parents about it. They said you can pray for others, but not for yourself. I guess that’s where meditation comes in because then we can focus our mind on God and in doing so feel more centered.

Very inspiring lecture by Swamiji. We must take this strong determination that one day we will definitely attain God realisation. To reach that goal we must have to give up all the desires (worldly or spiritual)and tolerate pain that come in our way. Through practice , practice ans practice we can achieve, may take so many lifetime, but not go back.

I try to give up my desires but I fail every time as I get affected by outer world n materialistic things . I try hard but can’t overcome all as m not God or any spiritual guru . Yes true it’s trap . But it’s also true it’s not so easy to get out of the materialistic world . In old age it’s possible.
