That is absolutely custom joinery ! I am a cabinet builder custom carpenter in the states and that was something I could watch 50 times in a row!
Ppl do not understand that as custom carpenter or as you call jointer we walk that fine line of “does he hv a mental illness or is he just meticulous” ?

thanks for these videos fella I am now reliving my youth and workshop journey, so good seeing things done as I did them many moons ago, machines were a bit more dated in my time but your way of working is almost identical to how I was taught, old ways were always the best, great work fella keep them vids coming 👍👍

Thanks for a great video. Really like your pace and the fact there is no distracting music. BTW, it sounds like your thicknesser drive has the same problem mine had (a flat on the slave wheel). I took mine off and gave it a quick smooth out on the disc sander and now you can't hear it. Keep these great videos coming!

Wow Ollie, they look fab...What a task having to build all those. I have the Leigh 12" Superjig. same principal as your but less versatile and smaller. I would love to see an in-depth video on how to set it up and use it on half blind and full dovetails. Wow you could see the difference in the finish on the sides against the front and back... Bet you are pleased with your cleaning station. Great to see you get a shoutout by Keith on the Rag 'n' Bone Brown UA-cam Channel, hopefully you will get some additional well deserved subscribers. Cheers Paul, its not taken to long actually, one of those jobs you have to really knuckle down on and just get on with it. Ill do a jig video! I just didn't want this one to turn into a in depth technical video about the jig, more a good look at the overall process!!

Good idea, I'm not sure it'll be quicker with the VRS, parking the router makes change over nice and quick having to remove the router would slow it down and sitting it right in the miggle maybe difficult to slide the pieces under. I might try it 👍
Try the Leigh "Bear's Ears" dovetail and inlay attachment. I think you'll be impressed.

Its not, this came from stock from Sykes. I was waiting on some Veneered Birch Plywood sheets. They arrived many moons back. I dont know where the time goes tbh.
Great looking drawers - so much work goes into them but 100 times nicer than the standard drawer packs that are used in most kitchens now. What’s the name of the white stain you used to keep the oak looking less yellow when lacquered.
Thankyou David, yes they are a lot of work, but im suprised how quick you can actually make a drawer if needs be!
The stain was from Movac Group, i had them do a really thin mix on some white spirit stain, i then asked them to 1/4 of what they originally sent (still to white) so i asked for the thinning agent and mixed to my own quantities. Turns out very very little of the original stain (about 1%). will make all the difference and hopefully conteract the horrible orange oak can go.
How about showing how to make a kitchen cabinet with the d4r.

@@BradshawJoinery lol dad used to be a furniture retailer and l worked for him Saturdays from about 14 years old 50+ years ago. Anywho a woman came in and was complaining about her sticky drawers (Ercol Windsor) my aunt asked any reason? “No l always polish my drawers” 🙈🙉🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Great job! I love your videos and you have inspired me to upgrade my skill considerably! I have a question: when sanding the inside of the drawers after machining why are you sanding the boards vs running them through the wide belt sander? Thanks!
Thanks Craig, you'll always get a directional grain from the wide belt and very fine grits will burn the surface so I like to use a random orbit sander to finish for pretty much invisible sanding marks

Amazing videos, better than meditation lessons. Why do you machine the front and back of the boxes when using a separate fronts? Blum runners need machining fronts only according to their instuructions. At the back only hole needs to be drilled.
The back sits on runner so needs machining. You could get away with not ma hinting fronts, but it pushes the runner assembly 15mm further back into cabinet meaning bigger cabinet required

great work, what whitening spray paint are u using before ur main spraying??
Its a solvent stain. basically a powder pigment in thinners. Very very thinned down. Im talking, i ordered a white stain then mixed 10-1 thinners stain. Just takes the honey effect out the lacquer, works a treat but stains are always a pain!

Great video! Do you get snipe on a planar like that? And you don't need to wear a ventilator with your belt sander?
Planer snipe depends on depth of rear bed and speed of cut, there is no snipe from the wide belt sander.

Thanks, I didnt say as its a bit of a mystery haha! Its a White stain from Movac. Spirit stain about 1/100th of the concentration they originally sent me .

Thankyou Peter, the oak here is from Sykes, I shop around a bit but Sykes are probably the best quality of the main/joinery timber suppliers. .
There are a few small woodyards doing English timbers dotted about too

Depends on the amount tbh, the 3m3 of tulip took about 4/5 weeks before the dehumidifier leveled out and stopped needing emptying. So a couple fomweeks would help if nothing else. Obviously as long as possible would get the core of the timber the most acclimated. 2 weeks would have a significant impact I think.

Im not actually sure. It is a pigment in acetone basically haha, Make sure you stir it really well before mixing or applying

could you add a sacrificial peice of wood to ghe dovetail jig to help reduce ghe breakout even further ? or would that not work ?
its not really necessary once you use it correctly to be fair

Cheers Sean i think i made 13 drawers in 5 days during one of the batches. Not bad value when you consider birch ply bases and very nice timber, bespoke bevel edges etc.
And that’s why handmade and real wood drawers are so expensive. You need skills, lots of expensive tools and serious Labour time to make them but they look the best and last a lifetime.

What's the difference between plaining n sanding? I've always wondered about that, especially since I've been watching videos of things being built on UA-cam.
Hi Cathy, good question, so planing is a machine that uses sharp cutters to straighten and flatten the timber. A planed surface from a machine will generally have small ripples to the surface finish where each knife of the circular cutter takes its cut as you pass the board over it.
The sander is a constant contact with the workpiece and when sanded the surface is ripple free and flat/smooth.
The planer is great for getting a straight flat piece quickly and the sanding gives the best surface finish.
A planer will generally cut between 0.5 and 3mm each pass, my wife belt sander here will do maximum 0.2mm in a pass.
Which PU adhesive would you recommend ?

Very nice, the plywood drawer bottoms didn't look like oak, in fact one looked like a beech veneer. Is the veneered plywood you use A.C. grade?.
Cheers Colin, they are Quarter saw Oak veneered birch plywood. It's very good stuff but not cheap. Especially now!

Hi. Not sure if you are aware that you can cut half blind dovetail in one setup with that jig.
Yes it is possible, but at set spacings which aren't as nice/slender. It's also more faff trying to set both boards at the same time as just doing them individually so I don't tend to use it. 👍
