Well, I think I've finished watching every youtube video made on this car. I must say, I think it's impressive. Most reviewers want to compare it to a V6 offering from other manufacturers, but why? I'll tell you why. The Mazda 6 is so sexy they just can't cope with the idea that this beauty is only available with the 2.5 engine, it just drives them crazy. When you compare it with the comparable motors offered by the other guys, I think the 6 comes out the winner.
+Leejack 27 Good thinking! I have heard of people putting tunes on these and getting all kinds of power. As a Mechanical Engineering student, I am fascinated by the technology in these SkyActive Engines, like the crazy shaped headers or the super high compression(Although I was quite upset they didn't follow through with the diesel). Toyota actually is in a partnership with Mazda now, expect to see Mazda engines in some Toyota's!
+crazyjdkid There aren't many people who will buy a sedan with a manual transmission but I think it's cool that Mazda offers it on the 6 (except for the GT). My first car was a stick and I haven't driven one in a long time but would love to give it a go just for fun. That said, I really want to buy the i touring model with automatic. I think the GT model is a bit pricey as is the top model on the competitors cars. If I do buy one the big option for me will be which color, they're all beautiful.
Just for the re-branded 2..i guess Mazda figured they could sell more of them if it carried the Toyota name plate..but other than the grill its all Mazda..The reason been was the previous Scion rode like crap...so Toyota turned to Mazda..I still think they should of offered the sedan version of the new mazda 2 her in the US..Similar to what they did years ago w the corolla an geo prism..Did you ever check out the wagon version of your car ( not avail here) its a beaut.
I love the 6s for their sporty and elegant looks and I want one so much. Black is a nice color on it too and your car looks nice and fun to drive. I have my cute little '12 Forte but I'm definitely saving up for something bigger and sophisticated like the 6.
I just bought a showcase model 2015 M6 GT with only 98 miles on it. I love the comfort of this car and the features are state of the art. It is listed as one of the top 10 high tech cars. The headlights move to compensate for corners and curves in the road. Really cool car! Sound system is a BOSE and kicks! Handles so well you think you are in a Mercedes or similar. Consumer report gives great ratings to this car as does Edmonds and Kelly.
I was wondering why you're interior looked different than mine, than noticed the touring mentioned. It is a lot like the Grand Touring. The Bose system on my GT totally kills any audio I've ever heard in an auto. I live in Mass. So the leather heated sests will be enjoyable during the cold winter months...you did a great job on the video
Wow for a 2015 it still looks modern in 2022. I’m thinking of getting one from that year since they’re a bit lower price than newer ones until I can afford a brand new one.
This video was very helpful in preparation to buy the same car soon. Loved that you compared transmission between yours and CVT in other cars. Also like that Mazda is actually made in Japan unlike most Hondas or Toyotas.
I own that exact car! I love everything about that car with one exception.. The head unit sucks, if all you do is listen to AM/FM radio its good, but if you connect your blue tooth phone to listen to Pandora or another type music service you will not be happy. It has to download your entire phone book every time you start the car which means from turning the key to anything playing takes sometimes more then 2 minutes sometimes even longer. Also be careful with that center control knob if you drink coffee or have any kind liquids the cup holders are way too close the center control knob. Other than that , this car is awesome.
We shall see I guess, our other vehicles have grey leather are it isn't so bad. I think the crazy tint percentage will help! But the car being black overall will definitely attract heat.
I am looking to buy Mazda 6 and I've found 2 that I want to check out.Both are with 2.2liter diesel engine,manual.Those are in Deutschla d. One is 2015 with 100k kilometers for 14k euro,and another 2016 with190k kilometres for 9.5k euro. I am really having hard time to decide which might be better.I never had Mazda and don't know if 190k km is a lot for this car.Obviously its mostly highway driven auto.Your reply might be helpfull for me.
I just bought a 2015 Mazda 6 touring today and it has 30k miles on it. Anything I should know when it comes to maintenance and up keep for this vehicle? How many miles does a Mazda usually go before it starts to have issues? This is my first non american made vehicle.

I just purchased the Mazda 3 Touring and it's been fantastic. This should be similar. I will say to look through consumer reports, etc. and just through the specs. Mazda's tend to sacrifice a little bit of practicality for a lot more sportiness and fun. It fits me and where I am in my life but it might not be for everyone

What do you use for your car ? You car seems like you got the leatherette interior like mine. This shit is driving me nuts now. Makes me wanna call Japan and ask them. Rommel Vega Clean as you would any other car! Armor All cleaning wipes worked fine for me. I believe it also mentioned in the manual how to clean it as well but I might be wrong. Any vinyl cleaner will work well also as generally leatherette has a vinyl base. Just soap and water is another method.
If you still have this car and kept it in good condition, it's now selling for a little less then what you paid for it. January 2022. Hope you do another video on this car now. Thanks!
chris blu They look like leather seats, but they are an artificial leather......they call it a leatherette. It come standard with the touring. You can't really tell the difference.

We have had a Millenia and currently have a 626 and this Mazda 6. They are pretty reliable cars, and have good styling. Don't worry that squirrel survived, he was barely missed! I have seen an increasing number of these where I live, especially with the more recent facelift. Thanks forwatching!

I have not had any issues thus far. Runs and drives great. The one thing I would pay close attention to is the entertainment system. They changed it between the two years. The earlier version, which this car has, is a bit dated. The audio quality is great and all but looks a bit old. Still has many great features though!
I've read somewhere that the bluetooth connection between the phone and car is quite slow, it can take up to a few minutes for them to pair. I don't really mind how the infotainment look as long as it does the job well. Side note: that armrest looks much much more comfortable than the 2016's new armrest, as matter of fact I dont think it even has an armrest
Well if you are already aware of the bluetooth issues you already know the worst of the entertainment problems then! It takes a bit to sync and isn't instantaneous when say...changing the song via the steering wheel. But if you are looking for a fast, fuel efficient vehicle that handles like it could take a 90 degree turn at 70 mph. You will find this car to be perfect.
I was debating between mazda 3 and mazda 6 and thank goodness I chose the 6 because it's more spacious than the 3. I also don't like the interior tv screen thing on the 3. It's awkwardly placed.
juggernautt888 Its built into the gas pedal assembly, you have to push down the gas pedal all the way until you hear/feel a click.ITs really a gear kick down button.
crazyjdkid That's great. I found one for about 18k, for when I get back to Birmingham. Think that's a sound investment? How about reliability and maintenance, if you don't mind.
No reliability issues and nothing has failed on it yet. Maintenance is simple, I do the oil changes myself, every 5,000 miles with synthetic oil. That's all I have ever done, it has roughly 26k on it now.

Yes! I still have this Mazda. In fact I have 2 Mazda's, this one and a 1999 model with 185,000 miles. Both run great and have never had any issues. Well you have to recognize that it is a 4 cylinder car. So if your coming from a V8 it will feel slower yes. But it still is a very peppy and fast car and looks stunning. Thanks for watching!
+Leejack 27 It pulls like a freight train. Lots of low end torque. People often forget this is a 4 cylinder. Its not going to go 100 mph at 1500 rpms, you have to spool it up!
+crazyjdkid If you could take the 4 cylinder Accord, Camry, Altima or the 6, all equipped similarly, which one would you pick? From what I read the 6 is the quickest of those 4's. Plus, the looks are killer!
+Leejack 27 Those were what we looked at when we got the 6. We said no to the Camry for the look and the Camry is a rather dated car platform. The Altima is a great car but when we were looking the styling wasn't the best and we have a Nissan that has given us a few issues. It really came down to the Accord or the 6. We own 2 Hondas and a Mazda as well, so we already know the reliability. Both drove fine, but the Accord of similar equip was close to 10k more than the 6. The Accord had a CVT as well, which if you have ever driven one, you won't want one(Our Nissan has a CVT). They have changed all these vehicles since we have bought our 6. But I would still go with the 6. Ours hasn't been any trouble and it has about 18k on it. A pro for the Accord is that its cabin technology is a little smoother.
I purchased a Mazda 6 2016 several wks ago and one thing I noticed is that none of the cars come with splash guards next to the wheels . I love the car and will have it for a long time ,but is considering having Mazda parts splash guards put on that is specific for my make and model. Its going to be different seeing that I have never seen any of the Mazda 6 brands on the road with splash guards
morefeouse Not true if you look carefully at the front part of the front and rear wheel welds you will see a splash guard place there . It's designed so it doesn't look awkward with the style of the car.
crazyjdkid i found out about the gas paddle after a month when i was driving it :). I too have the middle trim, but mine has Bose speakers, i thought all middle trims offered Bose system. Great review.,
We looked at a 2016 also, the crazy price difference between the two was a deal breaker. The only major inside change is the display screen. And the outside is the LED strip on the headlamps.
Which is not bad considering both are sexy. The 2016 and 2017 mazda6 have chrome around the foglamps and it reminds me of catfish. I will probably upgrade to a turbo6 later on. I really love the kick down pedal as well.
+Maurice Colford You are right! It has two options for sound. An OEM Mazda set up or a Bose option. The one in the car is Mazda OEM. It sounds good and has good bass. I am no audiophile though!
I loved my Ridgeline. I ll get another when I pay this off. Need the gas mileage for work commute. I got same mazda just 2015 with sunroof and bose package.this my second 6 had a 2014 touring. Had to get another one cause I really like this car. Mazda did a fantastic job I think.

Everyone needs to check the 2015 JD Power Vehicle Quality Study. Mazda was ranked 25th out of the 34 car brands in the study. And guess what? Hyundai, KIA and Toyota came 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively. All other Asian auto brands were about average or far below average (Mazda and Subaru were placed at the bottom).
Stefan Schmidt Your looking at one review website! Look around, you will struggle to find another site that dislikes the vehicle. Most infact, put it as number 1 for large sedan, such as Car and Driver. When it comes down to it though, the only person that matters is the person that is driving it. Go sit down in a similar vehicle in the Hyundai (Kia) and Toyota line and I guarantee you would like the Mazda6 better.
crazyjdkid The JD Power Quality Study is the largest standardized vehicle quality study in the world. All other surveys/studies are smaller. And I've already driven several of the vehicles you mentioned including the 2015 Hyundai Sonata Sport 2.0T, 2015 Mazda 6, 2015 Ford Fusion and 2015 Toyota Camry. And the Mazda 6 is nothing special. In fact, the interior is probably the worst I've been in out of them.
Now that I go look at your channel seems like you are a Kia/Hyundai fanboy? Can't have nothing to say decent about any brand other than Kia/Hyundai. So please inform me about the Kia's and Hyundai's of the early 2000s! I would love to hear about how high quality and reliable they are!
Stefan Schmidt You obviously have a bias against Mazdas and the Mazda 6s in particular I haven't seen JD Power report of a 2015 being as low as you claim , furthermore the Mazda 6s interior even before it's 2016 upgrade was considered one of the best interiors in it's segment. I'm sorry I'm just a little skeptical about your comments.
To be honest, the design on the new 2015 Mazda's look ugly. I much prefer the modern design of the 2015 Hyundai Sonata. Mazda needs to replace their designers ASAP. Their sales in the US are falling because of their ugly retro designs.
UltimateDriver Actually there sales are skyrocketing with these new designs. So much in fact that they have partnered with Toyota and this is the highest rated sedan in the USA right now. Never heard someone call this car ugly, but to each his/her own I guess.

Those have to be all highway miles. If thats the case, I would cut those miles in half when considering wear.

It's one of the shirt falls of this car year. It is not an option and cannot be updated. The following years I do believe had the option.

I drove it from North Alabama to Cleveland non stop and it performed just fine! Great gas mileage and excelent visibility for night driving!
crazyjdkid That's great. I found one for about 18k, for when I get back to Birmingham. Think that's a sound investment? How about reliability and maintenance, if you don't mind.
No reliability issues and nothing has failed on it yet. Maintenance is simple, I do the oil changes myself, every 5,000 miles with synthetic oil. That's all I have ever done, it has roughly 26k on it now.

Its only legal to pass if you do not go in excess of the speed limit. I was already over the limit for the road, they had to be pushing at least 60mph.

Yes! I still have this Mazda. In fact I have 2 Mazda's, this one and a 1999 model with 185,000 miles. Both run great and have never had any issues. Well you have to recognize that it is a 4 cylinder car. So if your coming from a V8 it will feel slower yes. But it still is a very peppy and fast car and looks stunning. Thanks for watching!

+Leejack 27 It pulls like a freight train. Lots of low end torque. People often forget this is a 4 cylinder. Its not going to go 100 mph at 1500 rpms, you have to spool it up!
+crazyjdkid If you could take the 4 cylinder Accord, Camry, Altima or the 6, all equipped similarly, which one would you pick? From what I read the 6 is the quickest of those 4's. Plus, the looks are killer!
+Leejack 27 Those were what we looked at when we got the 6. We said no to the Camry for the look and the Camry is a rather dated car platform. The Altima is a great car but when we were looking the styling wasn't the best and we have a Nissan that has given us a few issues. It really came down to the Accord or the 6. We own 2 Hondas and a Mazda as well, so we already know the reliability. Both drove fine, but the Accord of similar equip was close to 10k more than the 6. The Accord had a CVT as well, which if you have ever driven one, you won't want one(Our Nissan has a CVT). They have changed all these vehicles since we have bought our 6. But I would still go with the 6. Ours hasn't been any trouble and it has about 18k on it. A pro for the Accord is that its cabin technology is a little smoother.

+Leejack 27 The 6 is going to be the quickest, but the others are not far behind. Have you driven a vehicle with a CVT? A CVT steals a lot of power.

model. Its going to be different seeing that I have never seen any of
the Mazda 6 brands on the road with splash guards
morefeouse Not true if you look carefully at the front part of the front and rear wheel welds you will see a splash guard place there . It's designed so it doesn't look awkward with the style of the car.

Gg, personally I believe you should have waited for the 2016 model; interior is being overhauled.
We looked at a 2016 also, the crazy price difference between the two was a deal breaker. The only major inside change is the display screen. And the outside is the LED strip on the headlamps.

Which is not bad considering both are sexy. The 2016 and 2017 mazda6 have chrome around the foglamps and it reminds me of catfish. I will probably upgrade to a turbo6 later on. I really love the kick down pedal as well.

+Maurice Colford You are right! It has two options for sound. An OEM Mazda set up or a Bose option. The one in the car is Mazda OEM. It sounds good and has good bass. I am no audiophile though!

I loved my Ridgeline. I ll get another when I pay this off. Need the gas mileage for work commute. I got same mazda just 2015 with sunroof and bose package.this my second 6 had a 2014 touring. Had to get another one cause I really like this car. Mazda did a fantastic job I think.

Everyone needs to check the 2015 JD Power Vehicle Quality Study. Mazda was ranked 25th out of the 34 car brands in the study.
And guess what? Hyundai, KIA and Toyota came 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively. All other Asian auto brands were about average or far below average (Mazda and Subaru were placed at the bottom).
Stefan Schmidt Your looking at one review website! Look around, you will struggle to find another site that dislikes the vehicle. Most infact, put it as number 1 for large sedan, such as Car and Driver. When it comes down to it though, the only person that matters is the person that is driving it. Go sit down in a similar vehicle in the Hyundai (Kia) and Toyota line and I guarantee you would like the Mazda6 better.
crazyjdkid The JD Power Quality Study is the largest standardized vehicle quality study in the world. All other surveys/studies are smaller. And I've already driven several of the vehicles you mentioned including the 2015 Hyundai Sonata Sport 2.0T, 2015 Mazda 6, 2015 Ford Fusion and 2015 Toyota Camry.
And the Mazda 6 is nothing special. In fact, the interior is probably the worst I've been in out of them.
Now that I go look at your channel seems like you are a Kia/Hyundai fanboy? Can't have nothing to say decent about any brand other than Kia/Hyundai. So please inform me about the Kia's and Hyundai's of the early 2000s! I would love to hear about how high quality and reliable they are!

Stefan Schmidt You obviously have a bias against Mazdas and the Mazda 6s in particular I haven't seen JD Power report of a 2015 being as low as you claim , furthermore the Mazda 6s interior even before it's 2016 upgrade was considered one of the best interiors in it's segment. To be honest, the design on the new 2015 Mazda's look ugly. I much prefer the modern design of the 2015 Hyundai Sonata.
Mazda needs to replace their designers ASAP. Their sales in the US are falling because of their ugly retro designs.
UltimateDriver Actually there sales are skyrocketing with these new designs. So much in fact that they have partnered with Toyota and this is the highest rated sedan in the USA right now. Never heard someone call this car ugly, but to each his/her own I guess.

UltimateDriver I take that people have different interests and preferences. But I still prefer the 6 over the Sonata anytime, even as a proud owner of a Kia/Hyundai compact that I love and have.
