New series Gaeltacht 2020 explores the unique challenges facing Gaeltacht areas in 2020.
Presented by Eibhlín Ní Chonghaile this series focuses on the biggest issues facing the Gaeltacht communities today, local sustainable employment, the lack of basic services and the difficulties for young families to settle in their local community. Since the foundation of the state these areas have been economic blackspots ravaged by emigration while at the same time the use of the Irish language has been in terminal decline. Giving an honest account of modern Gaeltacht life, this series focuses on the unique economic, social and cultural challenges facing Gaeltacht areas.
