We so love your state parks and we’re glad we get to showcase some of them. We’re getting pretty close to being able to say we’ve been to all of them, which is something that even most who live in Florida cannot say. That might mean we’re a little crazy though. ❤️

We felt the same way about Oscar Scherer, but the biggest surprise was Kissimmee Lake. One problem we had at one site at Lake Kissimmee was White Marked Tusset Caterpillars. They were dropping out of the trees and covered everything. Only there for two weeks and they are gone. Those jokers will sting you and Park Service had signs everywhere showing them and warning people about the sting ! But we had deer and turkey in the campsite!!! Another great video

@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle we drove a short distance and paddled on the Myakka River. Several others were there and let us know about alligators. We saw many alligators, large and small. Great paddling but not dog friendly.
Next time you're in the Venice area you must visit Snook Haven, it's a restaurant that has outdoor live entertainment, Owen, you will absolutely love it! It's back in the sticks located right on the Myakka River.

The pizza’s are a great simple meal to cook on the road. The evening at the beach enjoying the sunset and looking for shells was one of my favorites. The rear shower came in real handy for Maggie’s bath I can see a lot of good uses for it already. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.

Oh boy is it good to see home. I can not tell you how much it warms my heart to see my home town being discovered by y'all. I get to see things from a fresh perspective and it's made me cry happy tears because I miss home so much. Home town happiness can be a good thing. There aren't any beaches any where close to where I live now, but that's ok. Love your fresh take on Florida and the beautiful places you visit. Watch out for the sand fleas. They bite like a skeeters but they're almost invisible. Have a blast and keep on trekking

Thanks for the suggestion. We love Fort Desoto, we have spent several day trips there but never camped there. It’s pretty hard to get into, we also try.
We went to the Bonita Beach dog beach several times when we were staying in Sanibel. It was so much fun. Looks like Maggie loved it too. Biscuit had a blast and did great swimming. The only off-leash beach around. Other Bonita Beaches are beautiful but do not allow dogs at all. Sanibel does on most beaches but they must be leashed. That pizza on the tortillas looks good for camping. At home, I use the 15-minute two-ingredient pizza dough made with yogurt and self-rising flour, but the tortillas make so much sense camping.
I didn’t realize Sanibel allowed dogs on the beach, that is good to know. Maggie loves the beach and being off leash was a bonus. Your pizza dough sounds interesting, I would love the recipe, tortillas do make it a lot simpler.
@@VANTREKKINGlifestyle Super easy! You will need a dome for the griddle or you can make one with a foil pan. Just mix 1 cup of Self-rising flour and 1 cup GREEK yogurt. (For one pizza) Stir till it forms a ball. You might need to add a tiny bit more flour to form a ball. Then roll out to a pizza shape that will fit under your dome. We will try to show getting into kayaks, it’s not hard just pull the kayak out in the water so the boat is not touching the bottom but just barely and from one side sit down on the seat so you are sideways and then put your legs in one at a time same thing getting out but backwards, put your legs in the water first one at a time then stand up. I hope this helps. I do think you can do it, it just takes some practice.

We have been very lucky when booking. This year there have been more cancellations due to covid travel restrictions so in some ways it’s been easier. We all miss Ember but Maggie sticks pretty close to us at any dog park. I think she thinks we should get a dog since we don’t have one. 😂
You are staying at all our favorite parks. Oscar Scherer is 70 minutes from our home. We were there several months ago. The Legacy bike trail is behind the park and you can ride S to Venice and N to Sarasota. Great restaurants in Venice too. . I don’t know if you’re aware of Lake Louisa State Park Outside of Clermont in central Fl. Great trails, kayaking and fishing. We were there last month. Happy trails
Wow! 70 miles! We’d wear that place out if we were that close. During our next trip it will be a pinned location... meaning we want to spend at least 3 nights there. That bike trail would have been awesome but we ran out of time with just one night.

Since you come to fla so much you all need to do the Sunrise Sunset challenge. to do it you have to watch the sun come up on east coast and then watch it go down on the west coast all within the same day. I have watched it come up, go down and come up again in 24 hrs. (I was moving coast to coast) but I made sure I did it. When you do it you become one of us. My least favorite State park is the Koreshan. Sand fleas are terrible there. just sayin. Thanks for the video once again.
Be sure to check out Nokomis beach you are very close. Maybe also checkout Venice pier. Private Ranch in Myakka City always a open invitation for you guys.
Nokomis was the beach where we filmed the sunset, it was beautiful. We will put the Venice pier on the list for next time. Private Ranch sounds really nice too, thanks for the invitation.
Hey wish we’d known about the invitation for private ranch. We did check out Nokomis Beach... that’s where the first sunset was captured. We were there during a drum circle evening too.
We stayed at Buck Hall campground north of Charleston on the Intracoastal Water way. Bugs tried to eat us up. Head to Cherry Point tomorrow, then Cape Hatteras before the turn west and follow I 40 back to Arkansas.
Wow you guys were 3 miles from us here on Ft. Myers Beach when you were at the dog beach! We may have even seen your van! Goodness! One of these days we gotta meet you guys! 🤙
Cool, we visited and Camped at Boyd's Rv Park back in January and rode our ebikes everyday downtown to Mallory Square. It was a blast. Great bike paths and maneuvering downtown was a chinch. We have 2 dogs they were just fine in Motorhome while we explored.

The sunset was so beautiful with ocean waves and sailboats!!! Question: How do you handle your mail while you are away from home? The US Postal Service will only hold mail for 30 days, and we don't want to impose on our friends/family. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed the sunset... it was even prettier in person. During this trip we held the mail for the 30 days and then at midnight setup another 30 days. We love our two mail carriers and they know our situation and leave it at the PO until we get back and turn off the hold. For longer trips we do a temporary change of address to have our mail sent to our daughter’s home. They text pics of important things and just trash junk mail. And... we hardly get any mail at all. Everything we have is setup to manage online. But one thing that pops up are toll invoices tied to our tags when we don’t have an account to the state we’re passing through. Hope this helps.
Not recently. We’ll take another look. We’ve seen some pretty “interesting” setups with those mounts... like a 14-foot kayak sticking maybe 4 feet above a van. I know me... we’d forget it was there and wipe out a tree or a bridge. 😂

I can get my teenky 10.5 kayak and my non electric bike in the ‘garage’ of my 22xg cross trek, but if any one goes with me I would need another option. I am considering the Yakup with the swing arm for those trips.
This summer... maybe... nothern... not sure yet. Next summer... yes... if COVID lets us go on our planned Newfoundland trip. We hope to work out a trip west this spring and early summer but nothing locked in yet.

The Legacy bike trail is behind the park and you can ride S to Venice and N to Sarasota. Great restaurants in Venice too. . I don’t know if you’re aware of Lake Louisa State Park Outside of Clermont in central Fl. Great trails, kayaking and fishing. We were there last month. Happy trails
Wow! 70 miles! We’d wear that place out if we were that close. During our next trip it will be a pinned location... meaning we want to spend at least 3 nights there. That bike trail would have been awesome but we ran out of time with just one night.

Since you come to fla so much you all need to do the Sunrise Sunset challenge.
to do it you have to watch the sun come up on east coast and then watch it go down on the west coast all within the same day. I have watched it come up, go down and come up again in 24 hrs. (I was moving coast to coast) but I made sure I did it. When you do it you become one of us. My least favorite State park is the Koreshan. Sand fleas are terrible there. just sayin. Please go to Key Largo Fishery. You can get lobster $10 and yellow tall snapper is my favorite fish.

Hey wish we’d known about the invitation for private ranch. We did check out Nokomis Beach... that’s where the first sunset was captured. We were there during a drum circle evening too.

We stayed at Buck Hall campground north of Charleston on the Intracoastal Water way. Bugs tried to eat us up. Head to Cherry Point tomorrow, then Cape Hatteras before the turn west and follow I 40 back to Arkansas.
Have fun at Hatteras. It’s on our list as a possibility for a spring trip. Bugs get bad around the ICW for sure and they dive bomb Owen. :-)

We did that 2 years ago. And the sunsets were the best at Mallory Square. We appreciate you being with us.
Cool, we visited and Camped at Boyd's Rv Park back in January and rode our ebikes everyday downtown to Mallory Square. It was a blast. Great bike paths and maneuvering downtown was a chinch. We have 2 dogs they were just fine in Motorhome while we explored.

The sunset was so beautiful with ocean waves and sailboats!!! Question: How do you handle your mail while you are away from home? The US Postal Service will only hold mail for 30 days, and we don't want to impose on our friends/family. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed the sunset... it was even prettier in person. During this trip we held the mail for the 30 days and then at midnight setup another 30 days. We love our two mail carriers and they know our situation and leave it at the PO until we get back and turn off the hold. For longer trips we do a temporary change of address to have our mail sent to our daughter’s home. They text pics of important things and just trash junk mail. And... we hardly get any mail at all. Everything we have is setup to manage online. But one thing that pops up are toll invoices tied to our tags when we don’t have an account to the state we’re passing through. Hope this helps.

Have you ever considered a trailer hitch vertical kayak carrier, like Yakups?
Not recently. We’ll take another look. We’ve seen some pretty “interesting” setups with those mounts... like a 14-foot kayak sticking maybe 4 feet above a van. I know me... we’d forget it was there and wipe out a tree or a bridge. 😂

I can get my teenky 10.5 kayak and my non electric bike in the ‘garage’ of my 22xg cross trek, but if any one goes with me I would need another option. I am considering the Yakup with the swing arm for those trips.

This summer... maybe... nothern... not sure yet. Next summer... yes... if COVID lets us go on our planned Newfoundland trip. We hope to work out a trip west this spring and early summer but nothing locked in yet.
