Embark on an unforgettable winter journey with us as we navigate through the icy wonders of Spiti Valley. After bidding farewell to our gracious hosts in Key Village and enjoying a hearty breakfast, we braved the bone-chilling -20°C temperatures to kickstart another day of adventure.
🏰 Key Monastery:
Our first stop was the iconic Key Monastery, a symbol of spiritual enlightenment nestled amidst the towering Himalayas. Steeped in history and culture, this ancient monastery offered us a glimpse into the rich heritage of the region.
🌉 Chicham Bridge - World's Highest Bridge:
Next on our itinerary was the breathtaking Chicham Bridge, standing tall as the world's highest bridge. Spanning across the rugged gorge, this architectural marvel provided us with awe-inspiring views and an adrenaline rush like no other.
🏔️ Kibber Village - Home of the Snow Leopard:
Venturing further, we arrived at Kibber Village, famed for its elusive resident, the snow leopard. Amidst the pristine snow-clad landscapes, we marveled at the untamed beauty of this remote Himalayan village.
🏞️ Exploring the Circuit:
Continuing our journey, we embarked on the circuit of Spiti's highest wonders. From the world's highest village, Komic, to the renowned attractions like Hikkim's world's highest post office and Langza's towering Matrey Buddha statue, each stop left us spellbound.
🐚 Langza - Home to Sea Fossils:
Langza not only captivated us with its towering Buddha statue but also intrigued us with its unique geological formations. Known for the discovery of ancient sea fossils, this village offered us a fascinating glimpse into Spiti's geological history.
Returning to Key Village, we found solace in the warm embrace of our homestay, where we immersed ourselves in the local culture and hospitality. As we ride through the snow-covered landscapes, the temperature plunges to a bone-chilling -15°C, but our spirits remain high as we soak in the stunning winter scenery.
Encountering Frozen Maling Nala
One of the highlights of our journey is crossing the frozen Maling Nala, a daunting task as we navigate through black ice and slippery terrain. With careful maneuvering and teamwork, we successfully conquer this icy obstacle, forging ahead towards our destination.
Tabo Monastery: A Glimpse into History
Our first stop is the historic Tabo Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site dating back over a millennium. We explore the ancient halls and intricately painted murals, marveling at the spiritual significance of this sacred place amidst the snow-clad mountains.
