As a 944S2 owner, some cool 944 facts - the 944 comes from the 924, however almost no parts are interchangable due to the change in engine that occured from the 924 to 944. However, the 924S and 944 do have interchangable parts because they share the same engine and drive line - the 944 was originally supposed to have a 928 engine that was cut in half, however the end result means they are completely incompatible in parts - the 944 has multiple variants, including th early 944 NA, late 944 NA, 944S, 944 Turbo, 944S2, and competition variants - the 944 ended production in 1992, and it's successor, the 968, is essentially an upgraded 944S2. It carries the same engine that's heavily modified and contains variable valve timing. It also has very funky pop ups that lean forwards. - the 968 had the highest displacement until the Honda S2000 - the current record time attack car is a 968
