    I'm in Maine, USA. We would call the curved piece at the top a head casing. The side trim/finish pieces would be the side casings. We call any trim/finish around a door or window, inside or out casing.
    We call the frame around a door or window, the structural frame, a jamb. The hinges attach to the door and the jamb.
    I love your work, it's nice to see young people like yourself taking pride in their work.

    I have the Felder shaper and use the Felder cam lock hold downs on each end of a board as anchored to the sliding table with those 20MM posts. Makes it a bit safer than relying on your push against the fence. Raised panels held by the Felder slider with the cam lock. Holding down the raised panel sections to the sliding table allows going both directions for a climb cut or regular right to left with the profile cutter. A machine shop in Chicago machined the threaded pucks of the Felder cam lock hold down to fit the Martin sliding table. I order some 20MM posts in 20" length and use those on the Felder FE250 to hold box walls in a vertical to allow for the barrel clearance of some hinges.

    Nice, when i scribe and panels or fillers in my kitchens i don`t come from underneath like you did, i use Bosch T101BR reverse down cutting blades, you get a great clean cut plus you are looking over the top of your cut line, long as you got a clean base / pad to your jiggy you don`t leave any marks on the surface of your work.

    • @BradshawJoinery
      @BradshawJoinery  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Glen, the undercutting style is a european thing, there are a greater selection of blades available and is the main reason palm grip jigsaws exist. it takes some practice! . i do as you do use downcut aswell, but for thin parts find it slow going stopping the chatter by supporting right at the edge of a bench. If its high gloss kitchen considder the makita power file to get that final fit. zero breakout whatsoever

    This is one of the most beautiful things that I have ever seen! Big respect to you. I have just turned down a job for one of my clients doing their bi-fold shutters as I was a little intimidated by it. They were slightly different, they were ones that fold back past 90 degrees into an opening. It was one of those jobs where I just had that feeling that I would make too many errors and end up being way out of pocket so I just built the casing/window seat (actually they were adamant that they didn't ever want shutters so I didn't build the casing and surround to suit them), then changed their mind afterwards 😂. I really do admire your style of woodworking, your care and attention to detail. Whereas I do follow your same approach of get it done properly rather than getting it done in a hurry, I actually am pretty jealous/admirable of your skills. Out of interest, what camera do you use to film your videos?

      Yeah 🤣👍to be fair I did use the sliding table, just to save rigging up a fence and clamp, I knew I had some offcuts the right thickness (kitchen door stock) if it was any other size I would have done.

    Always good to watch your work. Love the attention to detail & never the quick "It'll do" fix.
    Can you recommend any particular multitool blades?

      Cheers Dennis. If you want the best then the festool ones are unmatched in my opinion. The speed max blade is absolutely insane! Youll need a starlock type machine. For general use i use the Newone blades. amzn.to/3wklRsl

    Those brass hinges look better than anything I can purchase locally. Where do you source them?
    Beautiful work on the shutters. Love the detail and the effort you put into the work.

    Before running any wood through my machines I run a garrett Pro pointer over the wood. (A small handheld metal detector, it fits in the palm of your hand) This let's me know if there is any metal objects hidden in the wood. It will pick up even the smallest piece of metal. It has saved my blades from getting damaged on more than one occasion. Just thought I would share incase you have not seen them before and with you saying that's why you used your wobble blade.

      Thanks Derek, I hadn't dismissed the idea of a metal detector to be honest and that looks like a reasonable price. I appreciate your reccomendstion and Ill give it a look now! I've been spending a fair bit lately so poker money is rather lacking 😖

    Snap-on Tool USA sells hex bits that last a long time in a 12V Bosch driver. Their #2 Phillips screw driver bits have little teeth on the Phillips 4 blades that really bight into a the screws and last a long time in use.

      @@BradshawJoinery Jimmy Diresta, New York, makes all sorts of metal and wood projects and I have seen several where he uses a premade aging solution out of a can
      that gives an antique look to metal. Clever guy and known the world over.
