How many wars and how many countries have you invaded to secure the flow of oil to keep gas prices artificially low in the US? The price you pay is so out of touch with the rest of the world and the true cost because of the hidden subsidies you pay. But that won't last. What happens then? Australia and Europe are paying on average $7.60 per gallon for fuel. What happens when the US joins the rest of the world and reality and starts to pay close to the true cost for fuel? EVs with or without subsidies will look fantastic when gas prices get to $8-10 a gallon, won't they? Can't beat the convenience of a car that you can charge from home, using electricity produced in your own state and/or country. No reliance on others. No reliance on fluctuating world prices dictated by the OPEC cartel. Plus you transition to a cleaner environment. Finally, at some point the oil runs out. Cant keep burning millions of barrels each day forever. When does it run out? When do we go from easily accessed oil to more costly to access oil? I agree with the tax credit going away, as well as all fossil fuel subsidies. Level the playing field.
If they cut the electric car incentives, then they’re gonna cut the gas and Oil incentives also. Let’s level the playing field and then see where the prices go for all types of vehicles.
If they cut the electric car incentives, then they’re gonna cut the gas and. Oil incentives also. Let’s level the playing field and then see where the prices go for all types of vehicles.
Nobody wants EV’s and can’t afford them? You might want to see the pricing on both options. Also ice vehicle vehicles are declining worldwide, and electric vehicles are growing worldwide. It’s just that in the US the oil snd gas industry is so heavily subsidized that you think ice vehicles can operate inexpensively. If you’ve traveled the world as I have, you know that gas oil in those places eight dollars a gallon. So a small car with a 13 gallon tank will cost you $104 to fill it up. Then we will see what vehicle makes sense.
Whenever this $7,500 tax credit topic comes up, feel like it most important point is that hybrids qualified. Which is a perversion of the original incentive to onshore critical manufacturing competencies around EVs

With Tesla you can buy a vehicle in 5 minutes or less online. The dealers have no one to blame but themselves. The dealers are dragging the legacy auto makers down with them. The problem with legacy auto makers having slow sales leads back to the legacy auto dealers. They try to talk people out of buying and EV an want to put them in a gasoline car. Many people hate going to legacy car dealerships. Many people call them stealer ships for a reason. New car, used car or going in for repairs you always walk out feeling cheated. People have no sympathy for dealers.
Interesting how they say, technology gets cheaper over time. What they do is add feature, after feature, after feature to new cars instead of focusing on making a vehicle that can get from point A to B, with 4 people and some stuff, starting at 20,000 or so. Instead, let’s add this frilly bit of tech, call it a new feature and make the car start at 60,000 and go up… vehicles are modes of transport from A to B. That’s it. Whether you pay 20,000 for it or 60,000 for it, once you park it, they all equally get shit on by birds. All of this poverty in America being exacerbated by expensive housing and vehicles. Imagine, someone just out of college, being able to buy a new car for 20,000 that is reliable transport instead of going further into debt being forced into ridiculous prices which exacerbates the issues. Please auto makers, just make a cheap, reliable car option.
US government has been taken over by vampires bleeding the workers dry. Those with money have bribed politicians to change taxes, regulations, and laws to make economic parasitism the norm.
Number one, the legacy automakers will beg for some other type of credit. Number 2, the government cannot afford to let Ford and GM go bankrupt during Trump’s term! Number 3 with interest rates falling the tax credit is not as important!
They are not gonna cut the tax incentive immediately. That would be pulling the rug out from under all of the companies in the US who are currently investing in battery plants and EV Automotive plants. Tesla would survive, but the rest I doubt it. It will be a phase out over years if anything. The country should also look at the credits that go to the oil and gas industry. They dwarf what is being allowed in the EV section.
Excellent video. Nothing has changed with the US automakers since before the Japanese entered the market. Back in Business management classes in the late 90s when I was in college they talked about how the Japanese managed for the long term in years and decades (focusing on quality and brand reputation), vs the American companies managing for the short term quarterly bonus producing cut-rate quality to maximize profit at the expense or long term sales and brand reputation. Nothing has changed and anything short of a real true bankruptcy will change it I'm afraid. I think Toyota gets it but started very later and caught with their pants down.

The reason for Tesla’s current success is their investment in Gigapresses that allow them to turn out cars like cookies, like a giant cookie cutter. In the future their new 4680 battery that doubles vehicle range and reduces recharge time by 75% are steps in the right direction. But this video’s ridiculous conclusion the buyers should buy EVs despite the loss of huge incentives and the lack of recharge infrastructure is ridiculous. New EVs sit unsold in huge numbers in China. There is no way that any American should get “suckered” into buying a Chinese EVs.

And don't be surprised to see Tesla bring full size SUV's and pickups to the marketplace eventually. That will seal the American market for them. I'm not a Tesla zealot by any means; I'm just reading the tea leaves...

Haha, China has fields full of EV cars that aren't fit for sale and know they will be a time bomb waiting to explode and catch fire. Very embarrassing. EV are not safe at all in contrast to a petrol filled fuel tank. A battery can explode at any time, especially when weather gets cold from hot and hot from cold. They are dangerous and also limit people's movement by only being able to travel what the battery allows for, so if you are happy to stop quarter the way and charge and wait hours then go on. Pathetic vehicles and also rely on electricity provided by power stations that burn carbon to make that electricity. Where is the sense in this ??? They are still NOT truly carbon or emission free as the emissions are made at the power station instead. Its all a farce and they will die out real soon. Legacy car makers better keep making the petrol and diesel cars and people will be ready to buy them when EV are considered dangerous and a waste of money and resources. PS many people die mining for the materials to make these death traps.
Question. if the Chinese government in fact putting its thumb on the scale with government sponsored subsidies and other incentives, wouldn't the removal of the tax credit actually benefit China at US expense? And help put Tesla at a competitive disadvantage that blunt instruments like tariffs the only recourse? Have I missed something?
