Yeah that’s what I’m gonna have to try - didn’t come off the first time and I didn’t want to break it off the motor or something, so press down and maybe a little PB Blaster will do trick

Anyone struggling to get the wiper arms off after taking the nut off, beat the bottom of the arm near where the nut goes with a rubber mallet and pull up as you do so, worked for me.

Thanks, I’d like to add, on a 2001, the tiny little opening on the Plastic Cap is on the underside. I rotated the wiper blades up and parked them by turning from accessories to off on the ignition switch. I put a little piece off blue masking tape on the windshield to mark the Wiper position. Do not remove the blades, before taking the arms off, you could chip or crack your windshield. On to Painting with Dupli-Color Universal Flat Black.

Can you tell me if the wiper arm socket has any kind of threads at all and what if any threads besides the nut thread exist on the wiper post

Thanks for the video - I had to watch it because mine are stuck on, couldn’t get them off the first time and was afraid of breaking something….so I guess I’ll try PB blaster this time….
Only taking them off for a repaint!!! Ford did an amazing job on their paint, because 25 years all the pain is still practically in good condition (except for the wiper arms and the rack on top- the paint is coming off) but the rest of the body and car look great! I sure do love the 97 Expy - one of greatest of all time

I have a 2010 Expedition that I replace the wiper motor/linkage and having trouble getting the passenger arm all the way into the spline. Even though the nut is tight, it still spins on the spline....would a few wacks with a rubber mallet help or break something further??...….thanks for the great informational site!

the plastic caps breaks cuz these are 20 years old... cool part is the broken peice doesnt prevent you from securing the cap back on...lol
