    As a Norwegian, I live in Oslo btw, sharing a duvet is silly🤣🤣🤣 No one does that here. It’s not the norm or tradition to do so. It’s like sharing your pillow? Why when you can have your own? It’s impractical and makes no sense to share as you get less of it, and the other person will always steal your share of it anyway and you end up either freezing or having to fight to get yours back. Makes no sense… then again we aren’t the one who not that long ago stopped using the Imperial system to measure everything. You and America which still used it as the only country in the whole world🙄🫣🫠 It’s also considerate to not having to share. There aren’t a ton, but still a few vegan restaurants in Oslo: Nordvegan, Cultivate, Silk Road at Oslo Street Food, Eat Happy Vegan, Kumi etc. And yes if during any break like winter, fall and especially Easter, which is huge here, half the population of Oslo will be up in the mountains at their family cabins celebrating easter with their family, going skiing, play board games, quizzes, lamb roast/steak and a ton of candy. Practical for us who don’t leave the city, as we get the whole place to ourselves…

      Hey! Thanks so much for the comment! Sorry I took a while to respond 😄 Yeah now that you made all the points I agree that two single duvets just makes sense 😂 Like why would we share a pillow... we wouldn't! Yeah I think to be honest the imperial unit is being phased out here too. I never use imperial, always metric 👍 Oh nice, thanks for letting us know, if we come back to Oslo we will definitely check the other restaurants out, have you tried any of those places? 🙂 Yeah I could tell that it must be huge Easter, Oslo was so quiet! Sounds like a great way to spend Easter and like you say perfect for people who remain is Oslo as you get to do whatever you want without having to queue or wait 😂

      LMAO. Can't image any one sharing a pillow. Sounds like whoever said that was joking.

    We have tried a double duvet in Norway. As young and newly in love, it sounds romantic. The problem is that it either gets too hot or too cold. Most Norwegians like to keep it cool in the bedroom. Many people sleep with the window open all winter long. When using a double duvet, you have to lie close to keep the heat, and it can simply get too hot. If you let go of your part of the duvet during the night to cool down, it is taken over by your partner when you need it, and you have to fight to get your part back. If you don't lie close together under the same duvet, there will be drafts between the two. The best are single duvets, so everyone can wrap themselves up tightly or put the duvet aside if it gets too hot and peacefully keep just the right amount of warmth through the night.

      Yeah it sounds like a lovely romantic thing to do but then in reality it just isn't practical 😂 I agree, too hot or too cold. Especially in summer and cold winter months! I like to have the window open too in the night so I can see what you mean. It is either stolen or too hot and then you end up passing it around to each other! Yeah you made such valid points. The single duvet is the winner by far 😄 Thanks for the comment!

    You shouldn't really be surprised about everything being electric in Norway.
    Despite being a major exporter of oil and gas, domestically more than 90% of all power comes from hydro and about 8% comes from wind.
    Ever since the late 1800s, Norway has harnessed its abundant hydro resources and operates close to 1800 hydro power plants.
    Gas isn't used in any household. Cooking and heating are both electric, although a few older houses are still heated using bio-fuel.

      Oh really I didn't realise that so much of the energy produced was renewable! Thanks for letting me know.
      1800 hydroplants! I knew they did generate a lot of power through hydro and wind but I didn't realise just how much. They can basically run the country on renewables which is very sustainable! I guess they invested the money from oil and gas very well! Hopefully other countries can follow in their footsteps!

      Yeah I see what you mean, stops the other person from hogging it 😄 Although 2 times the duvets needed for each room! Think I might prefer the two single duvets too 👍

      Traditionally we have two singel duvets only! And we never rarely use a blanket over either. It’s just logical to have one each no? Why share if you got two individual pillows🤣🤣🤣

      Oh right completely different to the UK then! Yeah I completely agree with the 2 pillows then why 2 duvets. I actually don’t know why😂 but I think you’ve both persuaded me that the 2 single duvets is much better! Need to take this back to the uk! 😆

    Sharing the duvet is abnormal in all cultures. It is not only unpleasant but also quite discriminatory. The strongest will always be the most comfortable. This is a completely reprehensible way to spend the night and Norwegians will encourage all nations to introduce the 2 duvet principle.

    • @Sheppey10
      @Sheppey10  Місяць тому

      Yeah I have definitely learnt since visiting the Nordics that sharing a duvet is a sin 😂 But I have to say I completely agree with you all, I have no idea why the uk uses 2 duvets, the single duvets is the way forward! I need to pitch this to all UK hotels 😆
