Thanks for making this information available 👍🏼would be great if you could do some more videos about these boats and interview WAM. Great Sailing Vid 👍🏼
Nice... its appears to work splendidly. I had a pacific proa (with a much smaller ama); in high winds the weather helm became very severe and I would find it almost impossible to turn off the wind. The only way I could do it would be to sheet in, build up speed then let the sail completely free, turn on momentum then sheet in again on my new offwind course. With your much bigger, fatter, heavier ama I imagine it could be even worse - do you have this problem?
It is all a matter of balancing the center of effort of the sail and the hull/appendages. The WAM Proa has no problem with weather helm whatsoever. Proasis, our prototype is so well balanced she steers herself on all points of sail. You can find videos on our channel that show her sailing without rudder and single-handed with nobody at the helm for long periods.
We don't, this is a proa. Proas sail forwards and backwards and perform a maneuver called shunting. We have a video that covers this topic in detail: ua-cam.com/video/Hcr6p6E8aoQ/v-deo.htmlsi=OPoHOaxpjCbtemDe
Looks great, I like the ama cabin and hatches.
Thanks 👍

Looks great. Whats the weight of the boat and how many sqm sail? Cheers from Australia!
Hi, the design weighs about 300kg empty (all plywood and lumber). The sail is 16-17 sqm, not sure what they built for that particular one.
How do you tack?
