¡Me encantó el video Dan! Que buena idea tuviste de compartir el paseo caminando. Me da mucha curiosidad ver cómo estarán las calles el 1 de julio. Ojalá que puedas grabar algo en ese día. Saludos.
Dan I'd worry about taking certain stuff left outside too. I know a lot is probably fine but when I see a mattress I cringe. Too risky! I find the July 1 moving day fascinating! My cousin's daughter is moving tomorrow!! Lol! Outstanding video Dan! I love your work! I think we think in some similar ways! You were immensely kind to leave your clothes bureau for the student moving in to your old apartment. I love kindness. Oh no! The apartment story is so sad and great at the same time! Hey I would have waited an hour or two and then rented the suite. I would have waited to hear from you. I am very fair!! Be well. Happy July 1st - tomorrow!! 🙂
Moving day was the law so the lease were set on July 1st for all. The law was removed but because most people still had leases that renewed on July 1st the "tradition was born". I had a lease that was in August, for me to move out it was easy since I had the whole month of July to move apartments but was paying for two apartments for one month but if someone wanted my apartment he needed 1 more month which some people can't afford to wait.
*I'm from the Greater Montreal Area, and I now live in Western Canada. I miss Montreal sometimes. Thank you for making this video, it sure does bring me back to when I lived and grew up in Quebec. I see you are shooting with what looks like a DJI OSMO Pocket 3 (??). I own both the OG OSMO Pocket and an OP3. Amazing, excellent quality 4K shooting cameras.*
Landlords need to the money at hand because many people say they will be right back but never return. I learned this when I was a landlord in the Philadelphia, PA.
For your information, what you call the moving day was originally the first of May until the late 70's when they changed the date for the first of July. Now that Québécois are much more owners than renters, this tradition as you call it is fading. Immigrants, students and poorer people are concerned with that date.
fun fact about Montréal buildings. they CANNOT be higher than the cross on Mont-Royal. theres nothing uglier than super highrises all over a city nd everywhere you look. i ❤ my city
I sold a property in Quebec. The first viewers gave a verbal thumbs up and said they would call back. The second viewers gave me a written offer and called back before the first viewers. They got the property.
Montreal has a huge bed bug and cockroach problem so I would not take anything big furniture wise from the garbage ! Kijiji and other sites are good for free stuff. If someone throwing something out ask them first . My parents found a mattress looked brand new and they ended up with bed bugs !
Thank you so much Dan for a blissful 28 minutes! I adore this part of Montreal!
That's very nice of you, Christine! Happy moving day / Canada Day 🙂
@@thoughtsontravelandlife You are so welcome Dan! It was a lovely Canada Day! My heart went out to everyone moving! Love your work! Much care! 🙂
it would be great to see other streets like Wellington, Ste Catherine Est , etc
That's a good idea. I haven't filmed in Verdun in a while. Next time I have a free day I'll try to walk down Wellington
I live in Laval but all my life in Montreal, good to get ideas of where to go even when you’ve been here all your life.

Fait 4 ans je n'ai pas été à Montréal, ça me manque

Thanks for the walk Dan!

Yes, Osmo Pocket 3.
Haha, we were there in the late afternoon. It was a nice walk! You should also visit the NDG and Westmount neighborhoods!
What are these green spiral lines on the road?😃
Having July 1st as a moving day means families can move and have very little disruption to students as it doesn't affect their school year as well.
Good point
Greetings from Cuba

Vive le Québec libre!
Libre de qui?

@@edbasset5754 Du Canada, évidemment, puisque le Québec se trouve actuellement comme faisant partie, de facto, de la Confédération canadienne.
Ever thought about leading a tour of Montreal?
Its a job here, people do it all over.

Bed bugs abandoned animals and sitting in dirty street “terraces” breathing car fumes; I’m surprised the plague hasn’t broken out yet.
Is it possible to learn real French in Montreal if I move here?
every school learns the same french, just others picking up slang
i'm moving to Montreal on December. I hope i'll meet you one day
Best decision of your life. I've lived all over..this place is the most relaxed...most european.
The ordinary, blank architecture bores me, but the street is nice and quite.

terrible walking streets....get rid of them....go figure a hipster transplant is in love with it
Seriously who the hell wants to sleep on a mattress that someone else put in the garbage ! Disgusting!
