This horn literally made my year! Huge improvement. Exact same sound quality, except 2 semitones higher than the one at the Joe. Also, the Red Wings did NOT steal Florida's horn. Florida's horn has a warmer, darker sound with a certain crackle that Detroit's horn never had.
This is exactly the horn from the Joe, just the pitch is higher. If they can somehow adjust the pitch (doubt its possible) to be lower, it'll sound the same as it once did at the Joe.
To me, the Wings' new horn, the Coyotes' horn, the Wild's horn and the Panthers' horn sound the same (must be the tone). This coming from a proud Kings fan, no bias though.

And that’s why they recorded the sound? That wasn’t true. Many people buy it’s the same horn but the tone of the horn is wildly off compared to the horn from The Joe. The two sounds are so different, can’t blame acoustics. The Islanders horn sounds different in UBS Arena but the tone and pitch are the same.
from what I've heard, the horn was gas operated. That violated a detroit fire safety code. The new model, should be the same model, just a lot different looking. Instead of gas operated, it might be air operated like the rest.
Not a red wings fan but im happy their fans finally got a goal horn in LCA now they jusnt need “hockeytown” back on center ice and play the hockeytown song too and its perfect
The London Knights need to do this, we're right now working with the same recording Boston uses, with Chicago's goal song (Chelsea Dagger is a perfect goal song, I don't care what anyone else says), but the Mini-NHL needs a real horn, especially considering how many OHL teams have a real horn, including their biggest rival, the Sarnia Sting, which uses a real horn taken off of a real Great Lakes freighter which makes sense given the fact that Sarnia is on the St Clair river on a major shipping lane. London is known for beer and formally locomotive manufacturing so a train horn would work wonders and appeal to the local area
