Thanks for the shoutout Kevin! I have no plans to quit reselling, I could easily go back to my old job and make more money then I do but this makes me happier. I can make my schedule and I have to just trust I’m going to build my business to be able to do extra things like highway sales or meetups. I can’t keep up with my work and my YT channel and that’s one reason we wanted to start our podcast.

Depends on where your at. Here in so. Call everybody is a reseller. Crazy lines just to resource. But not in Central CA. Or Northern Ca. Big difference. Also, there is a big difference between your region in the states. Mid west is different from the East Coast like Florida - North Carolina. It's great if you're retired. But the new to this game will be discouraged very quickly.

I got out because as the kids say, the math didn't math. OTOH I'm dealing with multiple disabilities and the medical and financial complications from same. But my heart is still a reseller/antique dealer and I still like to listen and help out where I can. I'm also a dyed in the wool hunter/gatherer , so while I don't resell on line any more I still pick for some antique dealers locally. Don't make much at it, but I do it for the joy.

Thank you for this video. I own a small business not related to reselling but I do rent a small warehouse, last year I lost my biggest client due to them moving out of town. What was a hobby, now has to ramp up to full time (reselling), which I believe is the hardest part because I am still learning what works and what doesn't. The mistakes get expensive and the time to get this reselling off the runway and into the air, is truly a time sponge. So that relates to lots of time and little to no profit. Thankfully, it is not a dire situation and gives me time to get it all organized and scale up to the size it needs to be. I had to reconfigure my warehouse which takes lots of time to be more reseller friendly. It is all the little things that we don't think about when watching a UA-camr talk about reselling. I am trying different ways to organize inventory, track inventory, track sales and to streamline it all. My most fun sale was found in a tiny corner of the thriftstore. It was vintage metal toy soldiers that were Medievel figures and Napoleonic. I tripled my money on those and know nothing about that stuff. The scary part is that they sold within 10 minutes of listing so I may have left money on the table, oh well, I am still happy about it. Watching your videos encourages me to pick up the pace and get it ramped up.

I really love the '127' sale. We live in California (your last territory) and get over that way about every 3 years or so. There are so many good areas ( especially. Ohio) for picking and filling up a truck & trailer for considerable higher resale in California. 😄

@@valeriesantos8178 i find myself spending too much time like im an antique restorer. The money made is not worth it anymore. The biggest problem I see with newbies and old timers like me we all tend to over price our products that we paid very little for, learning value is one thing and condition is everything with today’s buyers, but keep in mind everybody likes a deal just like you and me. Don’t be greedy with your pricing and at times cash flow is king versus net profits.

I only buy one day a week locally now, and save the rest of my chips for estate sales I'm personally cherry picking. My primary reason for this is that my local area is very saturated with pickers of all ages, and I end up spending more in gas than I do on finds. Also, the pickers for my thrift stores are not consistently stocking new finds often enough. I find less than 3 items per week in 5 thrift stores, so I quit going to nearly all of them. I went to one estate sale, and that inventory last me 6+ weeks......Thrift stores are a total waste of time in my area, outside if the BINS. As soon as I figured that out, my profits skyrocketed. Also, if you're ordering shipping supplies as a beginner, you're doing this wrong. Your shipping supplies should be coming from the Menards dumpster for free. Dollar stores, inside the store, has boxes galore too! Good ones. Why are you buying shipping supplies? If you're buying shipping supplies other than tape, PLEASE STOP. Unless you're big time, that's an enormous mistake. I'm sorry but it is. Your brain needs to function to make it as a reseller. Stop making it so hard on yourselves. Anyways, I digress. Great video. Thanks for the education. I love your channel.

I have to disagree. If you are selling on any online platform buy boxes, poly mailers ect. Take pride in what your selling and what it looks like when the buyer first sees the package. Shipping in dumpster dived used boxes look bad on the selling platform and every seller on it. Having the correct new box saves time by not having to drive to a dumpster and dig for a box or spend 5 minutes cutting down a dumpster box. Its the same as quiting going to the thrift stores to save money on fuel due to lack of finds.

@@ericgunter45 No it isn't. Must be nice to be married and have two incomes, like I'm sure you do. You must polish that crystal ball every morning huh, while you live with half my living costs. Don't like it, go pay more somewhere else, I'll keep stacking my cash, and sell everything just the same without customers who nit pick over cardboard, like you. Derp. I WANT YOU TO BUY SOMEWHERE ELSE. I sell mostly tools, and I immediately block customers like you, because you're undesirable business, because you're an irrational spoiled boomer, and I don't want anything to do with people who think an item is inferior because of the cardboard it came in. First off, you need to stop being so apologetic about viewer sales. You talked in this very video about how much time goes into doing social media. You earned those sales just the same as all the others. As far as social media, I probably could use social media to generate more sales just because I sell vintage ephemera, journals and scrapbooks and people who see these things in detail are more likely to buy them BUT I can't stand the video editing process. I enjoy sharing these items with people but I can't get through the editing and all that jazz. If I can ever get one of tech savvy kids to help me out maybe I'd try it, but not on my own.

I won't eat out - buy my clothes 2nd hand - cut back on entertainment - drive a lesser car. I'm more stable than I ever have been in my life working for people who don't have my best interests at heart. I NOW have taken that authority away from others. I've made a lot of money for other people, it's my time. It's worth it, believe me.

It is not work, if you enjoy what you do. I was told that many decades ago. There are some tedious parts of it all yes. But, it is still fun. Especially finding stuff you love to sell. I found a doll this week that was the same one from the 70s. Stuff that takes you back to your childhood. I love that! I think we'll keep it going here for awhile. Have a great week

I hire my granddaughter from time to time to take pictures for listings. She’s 13 and a wonderful artist , so she has a great eye. I don’t mind paying her as she does a good job and enjoys it too. I have been reselling for 25 years but now I am retired from my "day job" living on a pension and Social Security. Don't really need to resell but do enjoy the extra "inventory" I pick up that can be useful to me until it sells. I do have to be careful as Social Security restricts earned income to about $22k until I'm 66 when I can earn about $56k. Tricky tricky.

But the truth is I dont enjoy it and wish I did not have to. I will likely have to resell until my last day, as SSI is not enough to live on.

I had started reselling at the beginning of covid. And I was doing well. Making few mistakes here and there and then at some point I was still making mistakes, Learning of course, But making very few dollars. So I think it around the beginning of 2021 I stopped. And then around the end of 2021? Maybe October or so. I started again and been happy with reselling ever since. I just needed a break to recalibrate my thoughts on the whole process. But for me, the biggest game changer was finding Gemini comic book mailers and it made that process so much easier

I have been "losing" money every month lately because i have been stocking up on inventory. Reason? My husband plans on retiring soon, so I've been taking advantage of amazing buys with a little extra cash. These are items that will be in demand and aren't trendy. So not being able to list everything right away is not an issue.

Reselling is so worth it to me, not just financially - getting out of debt and having extra "fun" money - but more so because it's time with my kids. Each of my kids trade off weeks going with me on Saturdays. We enjoy the time together, looking for stuff to sell, stuff for ourselves and then we have lunch. So I hardly consider those hours "work" like I have to make sure I make enough per hour due to all those sourcing hours.

I just love finding treasures, I love buying...and unfortunately I can't keep it all! So in order to keep doing what I find fun, I have to sell. I could spend the long hours I spend on "stuff" taking more hours at my part-time job, and make lots more money, but I don't want to. I'd do nothing but resell if I made enough money to do that, but I'm not there yet.

In regards to highway sales: It does not pay for me to do them. But a City Wide is great for me! I can find way more at the prices I like to pay for an item. Plus I usually don't have to pay for a room to spend the night. Where I live highway sales don't really happen. I have been to them, but I have to treat it more like a vacation rather than out doing my job.

So if I can resell that item for that person that has been looking high and low for an item. I love it.

Having some independence is worth it. Part time reseller. Stayed up till 1:00am taking pictures of clothes. Up at 6:30 to take kid to bus. It’s a grind. The pay per hour is low. The extra cash though without extra bosses is priceless. For most of us earning a $1 at a full time job is not worth it, and reselling is. It worth it. We do it anyways. Why? Because we hard working Americans, not leeches.

It’s interesting to hear people say it’s not worth it. I do not try very hard to resell. I will go to a couple thrift stores, hit a couple estates & a few yard sales every other week. I don’t do it to make a living I do it because I love to find treasures to resell or keep. I have 31 active and 39 items sold in 60 days with an average ASP of $105. Conservatively I may work 2 hrs a day MAX, which would be approximately $34 hr. 1/3 of those items were from my closet but hey it’s reselling right? I concentrate on high sell through items especially (electronics, collectibles etc) again, love the content and the subjects. 👍

A while back I got laid off from my Job and I had just started watching your videos a little prior to that. I have always been looking for a way to make money on my own and I definitely found this appealing. I started DoorDashing for fast money and bought 2 storage units at $10 a piece to start with for reselling (ebay, facebook marketplace). I found it to be the fastest and cheapest way to get some starting inventory. From there I would use profit from items sold to purchase more and more. Eventually it paid for everything. (Tape, Boxes, Bubble wrap, shelves, storage, personal finds, etc.) It took awhile but I built it all with only $20 invested.
I am now back to my day job 5 days a week but I am not giving up on growing my business and my knowledge surrounding it all. I love doing it and it teaches you a lot about learning to work Independently. Sorry this got kinda lengthy but I wanted to say Thank You for all that you do and all the knowledge I have received from you. I truly appreciate it!
