- Finally! The last video in this series! In this one, I do the painting, decal work, and final assembly. Took a lot of work to get here, but it was worth it for how well this has turned out!
I posted some quick photos on page 2 here: cs.trains.com/m...
I may get some better quality shots later, and if I do, I'll add a link to them.
That's a beautiful locomotive. Your presentation was exceptional. Bravo to you sir.
This maybe older but the playlist is super helpful and was well presented.
Great job, great series. Thanks for sharing.
You did a terrific job on that Hobby Town PA1 , Looks better than an import brass model. ( I was a NMRA contest winner, the few times I entered a model.)
I bought the front diecast engine section of a Lionel m1000 that was painted solid red. I was going to strip it and paint it my favorite color the hobby shop owner had a heart attack and to keep busy he stripped it painted black and grey with the New York Central lightning strike paint Scheme like what you painted the HobbyTown unit into with hand done lettering and striping when I went to pick up the engine I was flabbergasted at the job he did and I did not want to break his heart painting it in my favorite color. Since I Model A prosperous Penn Central in the 1970s stopping at the bicentennial it will fit in because it's painted New York Central. That is a very hard paint scheme to do kudos to you
Very well done. My dad had a Hobbytown PA (in PRR, or course) and a second dummy unit that he never got to. Now you've gone and put ideas in my head.
What amazing work and a great collection of videos to watch.
that's a beautiful piece of work!
Very well done. I really like the operating fan.
We stumbled across your channel and were impressed with how well you presented this build. Really enjoyed it - well presented, well explained and so nice to see someone pay close attention to detail and make a professional job of it. Thoroughly enjoyed it and cant wait to watch more.
Very amazing ALCO PA-1 !
Great job! I have a Hobbytown PA that needs doing. Your videos were very enlightening. Thank you.
+Steve Curtis Thanks, I'm glad the videos were helpful!
Luv all your videos Mr Darth!!!! Your so Cool I Say!!!
I doubt anyone has ever put so much time into a Hobbytown model. Truly awesome work! Not to open a can of worms but have you thought about M.U.-ing up another unit via the old Hobbytown coupling system?
jefflynnalex I've thought of it! Unfortunately, this kit was made before the "multi-drive" chassis, so I would have to replace the rear truck shaft and cut off the cast coupler box for a drawbar. I'd like to do a multi unit train with Hobbytown or Grandt Line drives eventually, but this one will remain a single unit.
It is a shame you can't buy diecast metal diesel locomotive shells for popular locomotive like Williams. The pulling power would be fantastic.
I guess now to Pennsylvania fans will be happy
It's a shame the pilot is not closed it is so much more realistic with a closed pilot than a gaping hole to allow the coupler to move. My 027 Union Pacific Lionel 202 have the closed pilot and look so much more realistic and you don't go switching passenger trains with front end of a locomotive anyway
now all you need is either another a unit or a b unit :)
You need a cheap B unit to go with this
Darth
I guess I have been sleeping. Just got the notice on the FM diesel. Great work on the PA and Arbour models so far. We (CLUB) just received a donation with a lot of brass Alco models with KMT drives. Better body detail, but the same drive.. I am amazed at your skill and patience.
Thanks for Sharing.

Nice work on that layout! Those Alco Models diesels will likely be noisy, but they should be some good reliable haulers for you.
Oh yea and one more question: Where do you purchase all your motors (Faulhaber, escap, etc)?
+Charles Li I get my coreless motors from microlocomotion on eBay. He's not always the fastest with shipping, but I've always gotten good deals on some real nice quality motors!
+DarthSantaFe Ok thanks!
I will check "em out!
For sale???
Any newspaper will do ?
Yes, all it needs to do is cover the floor. Tarp will also do well if newspaper isn't available.
DarthSantaFe LOL.
