My personal theory on this one: White shirt Jeff/Wooden ring is a CLONE of the original Military Jeff, whom she's married to. Clone Jeff is "young", a naive version of the military one, and re-lives all the memory they made as a young married couple as ghost memories in his mind, trying to bring them alive with the wooden ring, while Military Jeff is probably away on the space rocket for a mission. Months passes, enough for the seed the clone planted to grow and for him to make the ring out of their roots, and re-enact (sort of) their marriage that HE remembers as a ghost memory. The girl is conflicted because she's falling for the clone, wears his ring, ecc. But then Military Jeff comes home and she makes a choice, taking off the wooden ring and wearing her real wedding ring that she removed in the beginning. Military Jeff and his crew capture the clone, analyzing what real memories he has made while they were away, and we'll never know what they was planning to do with him because she doesn't have the heart to leave the clone in their hands, and she frees him giving him the horse and some clothes and allowing him to live as a real person even on the run from the bad guys.
And now I'm crying...💜
[Edit] Because I have to point out that SHE is the scientist that made the clone, in my opinion. Probably because she misses the younger and naive version of Military Jeff that is now, given the smile he makes when he sees the clone, a total a**, and very happy that his wife manage to make clones for a possible future war.

According to a press release, "Ghost" is the first instalment of a two-part story to be completed in the next single, "Yellow Leaf". The forthcoming track will serve as the lead single of Jeff's highly anticipated album out this February.
jeff always says " you can interpret it however you want, if you feel it its enough" he said he doesnt want to give a fixed meaning and we can add our meanings to it based on our experiences. his songs and mvs always make us think sm and i think its amazing
Like all of Jeffs MV's you can have multiple interpretations of it. However what I get from this is the following.
Farm Jeff is the clone of Officer Jeff, and the woman is the Wife of Officer Jeff and has been looking after the clone for some reason. However as we see in the MV she has gotten closer to him that needed, maybe becasuse she needed to for some experiment or maybe becasue she really fell in love, who knows. But then Officer Jeff turns up and takes Farm Jeff back to get experimented on, before the wife breaks him out and sends him away.
There are a few clues to this in the MV, one is that she has two rings, the metal one, which we see on the Officer Jeff's finger as well, and which she changes from the woven wood one the Farm Jeff gave her, just before the Officers come to grab him. Showing she knows whats coming. Also if you watch the flashbacks, Jeffs clothes change, from simple country clothes to waistcoats and other suit attire, I think this is showing us when her memories are of the different Jeff's.......the lower class clothing being the Farm version and the higher class being the Officer version.
The song can be the idea of the Farm Jeff simply being a ghost of the other.....of his memories, his wife, and even his life not being his own.......and that he gives up on the hope of finding anything for himself, until in the end he escapes.
There are other ways to see it, but thats the way I do.

- Finally, the real Jeff and his team of scientists appear. The clones will be taken back for testing.
- During the time together Actually, the heroine has good feelings for the clone. So they decided to take the Jeff clone and escape.
- A Clone with a Broken Heart But tell the heroine that it's okay. Let the heroine go back to her own life.

I was under the impression that Farm Jeff is a clone of her husband and she was left there to observe him. Then the experiment was over and it was time to take him back. But she loves both of him. Those were original Military Jeff's memories of the wedding. When she took off her wedding ring because she was having feelings for the clone, he made her a new ring. The "Ghost" is Farm Jeff's memories of the wedding and such cause they weren't his memories.
This song is so beautiful, and after listening to the full album drop today, I cannot recommend it enough to everyone to listen. Jeff is incredibly talented

Like I said in a previous comment, the whole concept is from the movie Foe where the real husband goes into space for a while and leaves a clone of himself with the wife so she won’t feel his absence. Well, actually not exactly a clone, it’s a synthetic version of himself that is capable of sentience. The whole thing is part of a government experiment. She ends up falling in love with the clone but eventually the real husband comes back and so the clone has to be turned off and taken away. Only in the movie she’s not able to help him escape like she does here.
Yes, this is it and I'm so glad you wrote it. In the movie we have Henrietta (Saoirse Ronan) and Junior (Paul Mescal) who live in 2065. Earth is getting more and more uninhabitable so the government set up a lottery where winners can go to a space station orbiting the Earth. Both Hen and Junior apply, but only Junior is picked. He goes into space (hence the spaceship taking off at the beginning) and is replaced by an AI substitute.
I've been waiting for this since the MV release.

Maybe it's about how war changes people? Both versions of Jeff had the same dna and are the same person but due to their different experiences they developed in extremely different ways: innocent vs. brutal. Maybe her husband had to go to war and she was left with memories of the older days and when he came back from war, his character changed that much, as if the innocent side of him died or had to run away?
But I like the Clone theory too.

The director of this mv said that the marriage scene can be interpreted as heroine pov her flashback of real jeff or clone jeff pov as his flashforword/imagination.

okay so what i understood is there's 2 jeffs. the first version who wants to marry her is the clone. basically he is a experiment already and she's pretending with him. so they take him away and do more experiments and shes also a part of helping those ppl. the other jeff is the one who's actually married to her. but while staying with the clone she somewhat feels for him so she helps him run away in the end.
but like jeff says you can interpret the song any way you want haha

Jeff dropped a note that part 2 to Ghost called Yellow Leaf will be released Feb 8. In his IG live upon release of Ghost he mentioned it’s open for interpretation. The producer mentioned that each scene has its own clue/story. And ya, everyone wants to know why the horse is in the house. My take is that the horse symbolically is the most dependable like his best friend, something like a dog. Hopefully we all get the answer Feb 8 LOL.

(I have used this comment like 3 or 4 times but I still stand by my opinion hehehe...hope you like it my interpretation of this MV)
My interpretation of this MV (after seeing it several times because I can't get enough) could be that the 2 Jeffs and her are ghosts, since, both her and the Jeff in white had their eyes covered (with the veil and with a blindfold respectively) so they both live according to the fabricated image that they themselves or someone else made for them (it could be the Jeff in a suit) so, for me ghosts, has to do with the image that each one has of the other but that is not real and that no matter how hard they look for that image they won't find it because from the beginning it never existed, it was just a fabricated illusion.
For me this MV shows manipulation and betrayal, where in the end we are looking to get out of there and leave everything behind. When I listened to the song, without MV and without sub, the feeling I got was of desperation and desire to run away, to leave behind something that has hurt us a lot and of resignation because we can't change/fix/solve what is happening and we just want to leave it all behind without being affected again.

The ghost is the woman's memory IMHO. Anytime the flashbacks involves the wedding or Jeff with anything else on but the white shirt (scene with the brown vest), those re her memories of military jeff. She is starting to confuse the memories with clone jeff (playing blind man's bluff). She takes the wood ring off because she knows the experiment is over, but she feels bad about it. Her guilt is what causes her to release clone jeff.
The next chapter of this story will return.
🤔🇧🇷😁My theory: All the music videos on this album are connected, it's a love story that is being told out of chronological order, and the next MV that will be released in February/8 (the last one from this album) is the last piece needed for us to understand this history.
I really think the whole story starts with the Lucid MV(dream fairy comes to the real world with the physical appearance of the man the girl likes) then with the Ghost MV(the girl's human husband convinces her to help him kidnapping the dream fairy and doing experiments) then Yellow Leaf(which is the next and last MV where I really think this girl will die which would explain Black tie MV being him in a black suit at her funeral) and ends with Dum Dum MV where the mourning dream fairy Go Crazy and gets rid of all of military Jeff s henchmens, or something like that, acho q é isso.

3 main characters. 1-rocket/human jeff with metal ring- 2 - farm/robot jeff - a robot replica with wood ring(not clone because of the 4 electric plugs at his back) of rocket jeff. 3- fiancee of rocket jeff. Rocket jeff made robot jeff to keep fiancee occupied while he's away. robot jeff is programmed and fell in love with fiance and they had a great time together. rocket jeff returns and capture robot jeff which he wants to dismantle after serving it's purpose. fiancee doesn't see him as just a robot and sympathize with him helping him escape on a horse.
"ghost" is the impression of the fiancee on robot jeff which he is chasing after with futile, a woman he can never have because it's a one sided love but he can't help it because of the way he is programmed. he can only take his heartbreak and leave, never to find her again. "hoping she's dead to him" means he wants to forget her and move on but it's impossible.

Sorry a bit late but feel like to say something. Firstly i think the music video is meant to confuse people when they focus on the story.... The main message is the concept or feeling of the whole thing. No logic in it.
