I grew up in Saint John but left in the 1980s. Still have family in NB and before COVID would get back a couple times a year. NB needs young people like you and I hope you stay and add to the culture.
Moved here in 1996 from Ontario for University, and settled in Moncton in 2000. Love this city, as soon as I came here for the first time, I knew I wanted to stay. My husband moved here in 2012 from Florida. Very diverse group of people living here. :)
Awesome video guys. Thanks for the info. We're looking at houses out there now. Coming from Ontario this summer. Your video made me feel better about it. 👍
I am glad we can help!
Welcome to NB!! So fun to see and hear that many newcomers are enjoying what this beautiful province has to offer, keep exploring !
We definitely will be. Ty!!!
That was a great video thanks for sharing were planning to come to New Brunswick. It would be nice to meet some like minded people and have some barbecues with lol
My wife and I keep saying how lucky we are to be living through what can only be described as “global changes”. The Moncton area is also lucky to be able to attract young .... vital “kids” like yourselves. I hope that you will continue to make our city ... your forever home.
Toronto is only a short flight away when your feet get itchy. I can see that you still miss aspects of living in one of North America’s largest metropolises. That’s normal. However.... it’s worth trading life in the “fast lanes” for another one which allows you to “smell the roses” and have the time to REALLY talk to your kids. It all moves fast. Welcome home.
Thank you Jacques Herbert!
They are not kids they are adults
@@mortgagefinancing5558 Of course they are adults. It’s to make them feel even younger than they are. The only people who take offense at this expression are generally found in pre-teen arcades ….loitering around …before the “mall cops” tell them to move on. Grow up.
@@presspound7358 That is the most ridicules demonstration of tongue and cheek i ever have heard.lol
@@mortgagefinancing5558 When telling anyone that they …or that their “anything” is the most ridiculous….you cannot allow yourself to spell ridiculous as you have done. It’s like an XVIII century “demoiselle” snapping at her suitor…then climbing to board a railroad car only to catch her full length dress in a protruding bolt thus gashing the garment’s fabric while onlookers grin “tongue in cheek” as you say. My comment stands. Grow up and learn to spell. Now run along.
Welcome:) happy to have y’all here, Love seeing the province grow!
What a lovely couple. In Fredericton the farmers market in the summer was lovely. Some lovely parks.
And the only province that is bilingual.

Hello, just found your channel and have subscribed. Your life in NB sounds 👌🏻
Hi y'all. Thanks for info. My burning question is are there any pentecostal church's in moncton. Any church's with Island peeps?? Also take out? Any soul food?
Have you guys encountered other black people out there? I too am thinking of moving out there but couldn't imagine my kids being the only black kids especially coming from Toronto. Any racist incidents since you've been there? The incident in London, ON has a lot of minorities rethinking moving to these smaller towns and communities. While Canada prides itself on being multicultural, we know that there isn't much diversity outside of the major cities. Kudos to you guys for taking the plunge.
The diversityis no where close to gta. Our kids are the only black kids in the school they go to no complaints of racism towards them so far. It is a concern given the current climate of the whole world. Honestly on my day to day I do not brace myself for racism bc I do not welcome those experiences. If people are staring or saying anything I don't notice bc I just go bout my business and say hello to people and keep it moving bc most people here are polite. It is not my job to sit and think on who is being genuine or not that is too much work. As the province grows diversity will come. The best part about decisions is if you don't like something you can always change it, like moving back. That is what I told myself! Hope that helps
If you move near one of the universities there are some schools and child care centres with more diversity. Like near UNB Fredericton, UNB SJ and U de Moncton
@@hillaryapr Thanks for your input.
The diversity is definitely no way near as the major cities, but it’s more diverse in the Moncton and Fredericton area. I’m black Caribbean and have been living in Moncton for the past 3 years and it’s definitely more diverse than when I moved.
I volunteer at several food banks and the diversity is increasing steadily. Of course we generally see the immigration from other countries, I would say more south america, but also some from the carribean and africa. We usually see them for about a month as they look for jobs, and then don't see them again but I've been working on my spanish we get that many from south america. This is in Moncton, and I suspect since they have little money they are all renting for now and probably in the poorer part of the city. Since the city is at least relatively large, its likely that the 'only black kids in class' is quite possible, but not so much the 'only black kids in the school'.
But my wife works at the hospital and when I drive her I see lots of black people around the streets. LOTS. As for racism, thats a tough one. This is a province where the french and english have constantly been sort of at war, so I don't think the people who are really racist can figure out if they are supposed to dislike people of another colour or another language! At the hospital I know there have been people from Morocco and right now a new girl is from, damn, some place in Africa, I forget the name. The moroccan guys were really nice, they almost cried to hear that we had been to Morocco and loved the food in Fez because they were that lonely. They moved to QUebec where there is a larger moroccan population. LOTS of professionals end up moving to QUebec if they speak french because wages really are bad here. REALLY bad here. Somebody above mentioned that we need tradespeople, but in part thats because wages here are so low.
I worked at the local cannabis plant with about a hundred people, we had tons of phillipino ladies, I made a point of asking several of the black guys if they encountered racism, just for something to talk about really, but they said they hadn't. And we also know Indians and have been at parties where people constantly talk about how friendly the people are here. So in short I see people from almost all strata of society, but of course I'm white so only go by what people tell me. I would probably say the one time a person would experience racism is if they ran for office, just because politics is so nasty now, but I've noticed several africans running for office. They dont' win, but its great to see it. This province NEEDS immigrants, and if you DO encounter racism, just remember that behind that ignoramus is about a dozen people ecstatic you are here. This province has always suffered an OUT migration problem. So when people come here and LIKE it, then usually people are pretty happy to hear it. Say that you like it better than Ontario or Nova Scotia and you'll make a friend for life.
There was a report about a year ago about a large african family, I think there was around 12 of them, and they moved into a small town around Edmunston, which is a large french town on the Quebec border, and that would be a place where I'd think there would be racism, but the family said they loved it and had no problem. In that case I believe it becuase northern New brunswick is losing people faster than southern NB, so those people are VERY happy to see ANYBODY move in, because it means its less likely their town will die.
THe good thing about the Moncton area is that there are enough visible minorities that 'singling out' people is a lot harder. Southwestern New Brunswick is the 'conservative base', I remember about ten years ago when I lived in ontario reading about a gay couple in St. George who were holding hands getting beat up by some 'good ol boys' in a truck. St. George is close to the US border, close to Saint John. I lived in Waterloo ontario, which was probably about one third asian and one third Indian when we left. I think I see more black people in Moncton than I ever did in Waterloo. Waterloo wasn't toronto though. But there is a lot of poverty here, sometimes racism comes out of that, but I've always found institutions to be far more racist than the population. The police here are pretty white, and not sure that i'd paint them with a different brush than Toronto, but maybe I'm being unfair in that.
Is there a growing number of people with a Caribbean background there? I was thinking about moving around Moncton.
@@IamAzuri Thanks. Trying to get to know NB better.
Do you find that the public schools (aside from the outdoor experiences...which sounds wonderful!) offer a decent curriculum?
Thank you for taking the time to do this! Considering Ontario - Moncton with kids. My biggest concern is health care accessibility!! In Ontario we have a family doctor. Can you speak on this if you make a future video?
People have been waiting years for family doctors here. Access to primary healthcare here is much worse than ON. Also a lack of walk in clinics and nothing like Life Labs.
Nick was our realtor too...my family came from Ontario
Wife is coming to Crandall University for masters, hope she enjoys every seconds there
@@IamAzuri thank you for this update. We hope to meet you in NB
Hey! I am going to Moncton in November! Directly from Mexico 😉😉😉
Hi guys.... We are moving from Ontario in July .... got a “Popeyes “ around the corner .... what can we bring you Azuri? 😁😂
Awesome!
I vote you both Ambassadors to NB!
🤣🤣😅😅
How is local hospitals? Can you find family doctor easily and how long do you have to wait for a specialist usually?
It next to impossible to find a family doctor and this province has one of the worst access to primary healthcare. Specialists are few and far between especially for "non urgent" matters and the waiting list can be 3 years to see one. It is so bad, that walk-in clinics are mostly visited by people that already have a family doctor, but don't want to wait weeks or months to see their doctor. Also walk in clinics are few and far between also and do not do the procedures or treatments seen done in some other provinces. Hospital are OK, but are too swamped - about one out of three NB hospital beds are occupied with alternative level of care patients. Also seniors and other especially with unhealthy lifestyles, put a burden on the system so when covid came along, it exacerbated the situation. Keep in mind NB has some of the most unhealthiest and unfit folk in the country not to mention inactive with some real poor eating habits.
This is not the place to be if you need the consistency of see a family doctor especially for kids. It is so backward here that most lab work is still done in hospitals.
Finding a doctor is very difficult. There is a waiting list of more than 1 year for us. We still don't have a doctor.
@@whatsnext5562 I know folk that have been waiting seven years.
I am a registered nurse , planning to come to NB esp with new recruitment. I hope I get accepted.
@@jedidahcmelly4508 Good luck.
Fruit and veg in supermarkets are more expensive purely because of the smaller population of shoppers for each
Thank you for your video! Are you guys at all concerned about all the herbicide spraying that happens in NB and their "mystery" illness?
Herbicides are overused here and also a lot of heavy metal toxins in the environment especially in the Saint John area.
BTW, keep in mind those that are real estate agents understandably tend to whitewash NB's environmental problems.
We were not aware of this "mistery illness" prior to moving. Definately worth researching.
Thank you for your honest and unpretentious perspective of NB. Not sure if you mentioned where you are settled but no problem; I'm about to hit the Subscribe button ! Cheers!

HOW IS LIFE STUDYING IN THIS PROVINCE ESPECIALLY FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT 💖💖
We wouldn't be able to give an answer for that as we are not international students . There a lot of international students here. My recommendation is to try to get yourself acquainted/network as much as you can/want.
Would LOVE to move/retire from Mississauga to NB but the healthcare being even worse than ON is scary.
NB access to primary healthcare is much worse. Had to deal with it too many times and got better access in BC.
I watch you from Ottawa thank you for the video 👍
I'm leaving soon, just watched this are you guys property renters?
Can I come to New Brunswick with ielt band 5.5 I am from Nigeria and I have nobody in canada my CRS is 242 any hope for me?
Hi Tessy I wouldn't be able answer that not sure what the current criteria is to enter check the Canadian government site and see what if there is a point system. Immigration is always changing
Great video guys! My wife and I are thinking of moving from Ontario to New Brunswick. Do you pay tax when you buy a home in New Brunswick? I heard you only pay tax on New construction and industrial buildings. Thanks
Hi welcome to our channel! As far as I know new builds generally carry taxes unless the builder says otherwise.
l have been researching on NB and l really like the province kindly tell me how do l apply for a job outside canada? or even getting one, please guide
Hi Indeed.ca and jobbank to name a couple
Looking to move from London UK to New Brunswick.... not sure where though... still doing research
Keep researching so many other place in Canada to consider.
I want to move to Canada soon from NYC. How easy is it to find good paying jobs/careers in NB? My biggest thing is I want to work in the performing arts field I know it will be damn impossible as most jobs over there is agriculture I’ve read. I hope NB grows and allows different industries to migrate over there also! :) I plan on moving solo. Im single with no kids. I’m very interested in Ontario and NB. I never cared for the night life etc I just wanna make sure I can live in a nice area and be fully stable!
NB may not be your cup of tea. There are reasons why this is one of the least sought after places for Canadians to live, hard to retain youth and youth in the workplace, and one of the lowest retention rates for new comers.
NB is growing but I would say would take sine time for the type of industry you are looking for. I don't know of a woman is not from Canada who paints and is able to sell her art consistently. The great thing is that the world has become digital and people are able to communicate online. Depends on what you want to do. But if you come here there are jobs. The province is going through changes. It is growing pains right now but I think everywhere right now is growing pains seeing as the world is going through and new transition. Moving anywhere is a risk. Be fearly take your risk wherever you decide and know you have the right to change your mind. That is the biggest misconception is that people think they are stuck in life. Be open I wish you the best
@@whatsnext5562 It is not growing much and nowhere near the growth it had prior to the 80s. It only has a net migration rate of half of one percent last year. Problem with jobs in NB, is there are too many that are not full time with benefits and competitive advantage is not good here.
Hi guys, you said lots of work for skilled workers, do you know the pay per hours more or less for construction ?
Hi, I may have missed it but what CITY or TOWN in New Brunswick did you move to? Thanks!
just outside of moncton
Hey I'm wondering about the healthcare. My plan is to move from Calgary and here we have no premiums. Whats the scoop for NB? Thanks for so much useful and fun info :o)
@@IamAzuri Great...looking forward to your reply.
Expect to wait for a family doctor. There is a real shortage right now.
@@jacyntheloubier9734 Do you pay a healthcare premium in the province?
NB has no healthcare premiums, but access to healthcare is worse in NB. Also you will not find a family doctor and walk in clinics are few and far between.
@@saram7539 No healthcare premium, but access to healthcare is one of the worst in the country.
Why did people leave the province ? What opportunities ? It seems like a lot of people left
It is very hard to retain youth and youth in the workplace here, as there is better opportunities for advancement in careers in other provinces and with much better pay. NB has a net migration of about half of one percent, so yes, a lot of folk left. Human capital has always been an issue here, as this is one of the least sought after places for Canadians to live.
I grew up in New Brunswick. Miss it :)
May i ask what moving company you used? Also did you have work to move to, or are you looking for work? Also the big one; Healthcare… i have heard its horrible there, do you have any input on it ? Thanks :)
We will do a follow up video soon ! Stay tuned
Healthcare is not horrible, but it rates from just below average to average by Canadian standards. Also access to primary healthcare is not the best compared to some other provinces. You will not find a family doctor in this province as a newcomer and walk-in-clinics are few and far between and lack some of the services and procedures seen in some other province. For urgent care, it is pretty much OK, as it meets the Canadian average. It only does better in quicker access to broken hip surgery.
I personally find access to healthcare here nothing close to what I experience when I lived in BC plus I notice more inequities in accessing it not to mention getting certain treatments.
I've met some doctors here that explains to me their biggest concern is the lack of resources they need to treat their patients the way they want to. Also the strain the system has on it due to the province having one of the highest rate of unhealthy people in Canada. It is very hard to attract doctors to work here, which is not surprising, as NB is one of the least sought after places for Canadians to live.
Is it easy to find a job as a new immigrant??
If your qualified and interview well I think you should be fine.
My wife and I are looking to move to the maritime and our three grown kids plan to follow. Can you reply with the contact info for your real estate agent? We are planning an exploratory trip in early August.

Born and raised in New Brunswick..its trash and dirty as compared to younger days the rent is to high ,the places are in bad shape and it's not New Brinswick anymore it's new Mexico now....
Welcome to New Brunswick!!! My husband and I have lived in the province our whole life, but, however, we have spent summers in Ontario . The pace of life is slower here, but ,there is so much to enjoy . We have three kids and there is no where else we would rather raise them. I love that you suggest putting yourself out there and just meet people. We moved from our hometown to a new town 1.5 away knowing no one.... now four years later our friends here are like family. Explore your surroundings google trails, try out churches, go to local library ,and parks.
Ooo love all the suggestions. Thank you for welcoming us!!!

I was born in quebec, moved to new brunswick when i was four, stayed there for seven years, moved back to quebec for three other years, and then came back to new brunswick cause ive always wanted to attend Moncton High School, which i am now attending btw
It's so refreshing to see folks like yourselves who can understand what New Brunswick isn't. Too many people come here expecting too much. Like you said, if you're expecting Toronto night life, stay in Toronto. Welcome to NB from St. Stephen.
Ty St. Stephen!!
i agree completely different lifestyle i love the east coast lifestyle
There isn't much of a night life since pandemic. It's almost as if people sold their homes in Toronto and moved away.
The last thing I'm looking for is Toronto night life lol
We moved to NB from Ontario two years ago. Baseboard heating by itself is very expensive. If you add a mini split (heat/cool) and/or a wood stove or pellet stove, you can cut your heating in half! In winter of 2019/2020, some of our utility bills for baseboard only were $500+. This winter we added a wood stove, at most I had two bills for $300, all others were in $200 zone. As for the food, if you go to the markets, instead of the grocery stores, you’ll save money. Shop local and save. Best produce here.
You’re right, though. The pace is slower and much more outdoors. I love it. I find people quite friendly in general.
As for restaurants, in Fredericton I have three favourites: The Cinnamon Cafe (vegetarian/vegan Iranian), The Avatar Food truck (Indian cuisine) and Hana’s Ethiopian cafe. They are authentic and delicious.
I totally agree that people that move here should adapt to the lifestyle. It is very different, but good different. I love it here and I’ll never move back to Ontario.
Ty for the info! We welcome all advise that will.help us with the transition.
How's Ontario like?
My husband and I are researching and thinking about moving from Toronto. Thanks so much for making this video!
Ty! Glad we can help!
Why people act like Toronto is the only place you can live when thinking of moving ? , just move to a different city there is 20 plus of them
Welcome! We’re on the Kingston Peninsula. I’m from Montreal originally. The biggest adjustment was restaurants, so here are a few food suggestions. BTW NBers travel between the three big cities (LOL) very freely, so don’t worry about a 1h30 - 2h drive to get a good meal or shop.
Moncton:
The Blue Olive focuses on Lebanese/Mediterranean and is simply the best with amazing prices (in Dieppe). I can’t speak highly enough of the quality and perfect spice blends. A must try.
ASA Sushi is a great place for less expensive and great sushi.
Osaka Hibatchi is a it more expressive but the vibe is great and they have seasonal fish.
Taj Mahal rivals any big Canadian city Indian and is a must try.
Les Brumes du Coude is so amazing as a French / Fusion experience, small and friendly.
Fredericton:
Flavas is a very good Caribbean place, but I still haven’t found great Roti or Patties.
The Palate is fusion done well and the food always is presented immaculately.
Luna Pizza is one of the best Toronto/Montreal style pizzas in the province (Vito’s is our local go to).
Sunshine Diner might just be the best breakfast in the province. Must try the ham! It’s very much a diner, looks super local and is so welcoming. Grab a coffee at the door sit and relax in a very homey atmosphere.
Saint John:
Lemongrass is a place I could eat every day. It’s Thai and Indian and wow to they shine. Sadly not naan like Moncton’s Taj, but their curry, all their curry, are amazing and would rival anything. My wife and I love it.
Italian By Night is a beautiful evening out experience. I was never a fan of eating Italian out, but after going here my mind was changed. It’s a more high class offering, but well worth it. A wonderful date place.
MiMiMi is authentic Chinese and I doubt there is an equivalent in NB.
I’ll recommend two great stores for different ingredients: “Spice” in Dieppe (next to the McD’s near the mall) does Indian, Caribbean and Mexican. And in Saint John, “Freshville” for anything Chinese/Asian and Indian.
Reach out anytime :-)
Oh wow ty for all this information we appreciate it!

Welcome our channel! Firstly most people we meet here in NB are very welcoming! We do not allow people who are insecure, ignorant, uneducated/unaccepting to the truth that we are all humans to be a factor. That is their issue to deal with not ours. Hi, Thank you for your wonderful video. What is the Cost of a Starter home in NB? What price were you able to buy? Please share if you don't mind. Thanks
Sounds boring asf...ill stay in Ottawa Ontario...seems like it's all work no play there and people like me need a balance. A social life and events is important for me. It sounds like it's just families and more whites.
NB is mundane all around and too expensive with the exception of houses.
Coming from southern Ontario to new Brunswick. I find the cost of living out here in New Brunswick much more higher. Hydro rates are more expensive and to try and heat your house with electricity will put you in the poor house. Provincial sales tax are 15 percent in new Brunswick. Two percent higher than Ontario. If you're fortunate enough to find a house heated by natural gas. You pay more for natural gas out here rather then in Ontario. Minimum wage is much lower in new Brunswick than it is in Ontario. Dining out is crazy expensive. Housing market is now getting expensive due to low supply and high demand because of so many moving out here. It's a real shame the people that are born and raised out here can not even afford to buy a house out here now. Something needs to be done for affordable housing for regular folk out here. They can't even afford to rent now because of increases. Raising minimum wage would be a good start. Anybody that holds a job and regardless of what wage they make. Should be entitled to that dream of owning a home someday. If they're making minimum wage? Obviously they're not going to have a high-end home. But they should at least have a home to call their own.
In short and pending where your purchasing a home. The only thing I found cheaper in New Brunswick is the initial cost of buying a home. After that, I found it much more expensive in New Brunswick than Ontario. No doubt about it. New Brunswick is a wonderful province and people. Ontario is amazing and lots more to see and do of any kind of life style you choose to live. But realistically. People are moving east because to own a home in Ontario is no longer in the realm of the possibility or dream, because of an insanely high housing market. So good news for new Brunswick and businesses..:)))
Ps,, also consider that you may not be able to get a doctor for a long time,..
I agree that it xan be more expensive in terms of cost of living I do believe that the Premier must make some immediate changes to keep the province growing. Minimum wage is ridiculous given the fact that groceries and restaurants and retail is more expensive. The fact that taxes are 15% with such low wages baffles me. Minimum wage here should be $15-$16
@@whatsnext5562 You nailed it right on.:)
Yep, NB cost of living is even higher than BC when it comes to running a home. If you have a home paid for or almost paid for in BC, you are better off there in regards to expenses. Also the provincial income tax rate in NB is almost twice of that of ON and BC. No rent control in NB like they have in BC.
@@whatsnext5562 The premier is a corporate shill-like person mostly cares about cozying up to JDI and keeping the status quo.
I agree with you. We also moved from Ontario 3 years ago. The only thing that is cheaper here - houses. The rest is more expensive. Even the seafood! Not too many people who are moving to NB know that the medical system is terrible. Prepare to wait to get a family doctor for several years. We haven't got our family doctor yet. If you need to get any medical help you would likely need to go to ER. And spend several hours there. Our average waiting time is 8 hours. Walk in clinics - another sad story. There is only 1 still opened in Fredericton as per my knowledge. You can get there only if you call them first. Guess what - it is nearly impossible to get through! I stopped trying last year. Not sure if it is better now. For us the medical system here is the main reason why we may leave the province.
Love, love love your video! Message at the end is spot on. We are heading to NB in September to check out Moncton, Fredericton and Saint John. Looking forward to it. PS love the bright colors you are wearing :)
Thank you Glad we were able to help! Nothing better that some bright colours lol
MOncton is growing much faster than the other two cities. Saint John has a million dollar ocean view though, and great parks that you don't find in Moncton. Fredericton is kind of small townish, as government cities tend to be. There are TONS of places for development around Moncton. ANd some of the larger towns are great as well. Buctouche is a beautiful town right on the ocean. Sussex is halfway between Moncton and Saint John and has a very lively artistic scene and agricultural industry.
For large groups of people, I think northern new Brunswick is seriously undervalued and a group of like twenty people could practically BUY a whole town. But Miramichi is almost a city, and thankfully is long past its days when it had numerous mills that made the place smell like rotten eggs. Now its a nice big town.
Hi guys, I have a question. We live in Alberta, it's beautiful but I hate the loooong winter, how's the winter time there? Here we reached-40° some days during winter, and in my opinion there is no spring or fall, that seasons are too short, even the summer is too short. So I was thinking to move somewhere else and I was looking east. Big cities like Toronto are too expensive for us, so I'm curious about new brunswick. I can see that costs of buying houses are less expensive, and as a family with kids we love outside activities, I'm just worried about the seasons and especially the winter. Answer me if you can. Thank you
Winters are long in NB and even spring can have some cold days. It's mid May here and still not all the trees are in full bloom. Access to healthcare is much worse in NB than that of Alberta and that's telling. Since you are in Alberta, have you considered one of the towns or cities in the Okanagan Valley in BC?
welcome! Im excited to see your reactions to when things open up more. Great point of view! City Market when its fully running is a beautiful spot and the john hooper statues are neat
Ty!!!
You guys are awesome! Your views are on point and each aspect of living as an individual is tackled in a very objective manner.
Me n hubby tryin to decide between Ontario and New Brunswick…thank u💕 2024
Ontario.
More things to do
I'm selling my condo in kitchener Ontario and I'll buy a house in moncton in July
@@IamAzuri thank you
Hahaha. I’m a white 64 year old white man ( still married after 40 years) I have a black brother-in-law who’s from Grenada ( and resides in BC ) your accent is identical to his lol.and BTW I absolutely love his accent and he’s a super cool guy. Two weeks ago we were touring through the entire province of New Brunswick looking at real estate, I really like the chilled atmosphere I felt there but, my only concern is doctors or the lack thereof
Hey guys ..
I know it’s a bilingual province, but for English speakers how are the job opportunities. Also is it easy to get by daily with English or do we need to learn french.
You can get by daily with English easily, but you need to be fluent in French if you want a good government job. It doesn't hurt to learn French and will increase your chances of getting a job.
Southern NB is mostly English, Northern NB is mostly French, Moncton is a mix. If you work in healthcare or a government job it really helps to be bilingual but otherwise it doesn’t matter too much
@@hillaryapr good to hear i’m moving to new brunswick this july just got the job at the hospital i was worried about the french language although planning to study french but im glad to hear that its not a beg deal there if you don’t speak french
We are exploring the idea of moving to NB, just a few concerns still pending...
Research thoroughly what income you expect to make, as the provincial income tax rate here is high and it has the highest property taxes in the county. I can be costly to have a house even if it is paid for compared to some other places in Canada.
I love that the kids have the out door experience. I really missed that for my kids.
I was telling them what school.used to be like when I was young in T.O.
@@whatsnext5562 Yes... One of the camping trips that I went to was Albion hills. Also there's lake State George. Maybe you went to one of those places ☺️ the good old day. Ohhhh rock climbing too.
That was a very honest and informative review of N.B. Good job. The social experience will improve the longer your there and this nightmare named Covid gets beaten down. Take care.
Thnx Riff!!!
Your information is somewhat sqewed. You keep saying Ontario, then you revert back to Toronto. I realize New Brunswick is a small province, but there are dozens of town and cities in Ontario with small values and stuff you relate to NB. I lived in one of those small town for 13 year. I know what you are taking about.Toronto is a big Metropolitan city. So don't compare Toronto with small towns. You have to compare Fredericton with Toronto.
Good points.
Listening to you two talking was nice.......... the background music? Annoying.
gas here is 30cents a liter more here
Moving in a few weeks from Niagara. Great video and advice. I very much understand. I am coming from a small town and going to a small town. Very little shock. Toronto to NB?!? Much different. Enjoy your life in Nb.
been living in NB my whole 38 years..love my hometown
And?
Hi , what do u think it s best for living new brunswick or usa ?
It depends, there are definitely better places in the US than NB. Also there is a reason why NB is one of the least sought after places for Canadians to live.
XOXO hoping to visit again, we love this city!
Great video, thank you for the info. I follow another young couple from Toronto who have a youtube channel called A Tribe Called Owens & watching their videos has almost convinced me to make the move to Saint John. I think you guys would hit it off :)
Awe ty! We have watched a few of their vids too we enjoy their content!
Moncton is great to live in
Are there good gyms in newbrunswick
Are you guys from Jamaica??
Thanks for the details
She sounds jamaican
you guys are awesome, very relaxed and informative video, thank you for the info
Your Welcome! Thank you for watching
Welcome, glad your here. just make sure you get out to Hampton this summer, lots to do, its an amazing community and be sure to check out Hampton Brewing, you'll enjoy it.
Property taxes are cheap in the country but seem high in the cities, total population just under 800.000 people or so.
Loving my Jamaicans!
Thank you :)
Is it possible to live and work at different provinces?
Yes it is.
Thanks for being real and honest. Moving to New Brunswick in 2 weeks and this video gave us the kind of information we have been seeking and are now confident that it is the right decision. Who knows, might bump into you guys. Keep being real!
So wait ... have you found a Jamaican restaurant in Saint John??? We moved here from Ontario a year ago and settled in St. Andrews.
Hey welcome!. We are in the Moncton area. I feel like we would have to look really deep to find one. Nothing on google at the moment.
No Jamaican restaurants here in moncton as yet
@the Barnett’s welcome guess we gotta wait on time!
Great video, very helpful thank you!
My family and I are thinking of moving to NB from ON. Our biggest unknown is healthcare. Is it hard to make the switch over to New Brunswick healthcare versus Ontario how was that experience for you guys?
From my understanding there’s a three months wait before you can get a card we are just worried if something were to happen within the three months what would we do?
What are the challenges and wait times to get a family doctor or OBGYN?
Thank you.
It can take years to get a family doctor here; some people have been on waiting lists for ten years, but if you're willing to drive hours, you might get one with 5 to 7 years. It is so bad, that there is no lack of those with family doctors that go to walk in clinics because they don't want to wait weeks or months to see their own doctor. OBGYN should not be a problem though, but seeing a gynecologist is next to impossible unless you have cancer or something very very urgent. The specialist my wife wanted to see has a three year waiting list, but it will only be about a year if she goes to a private clinic in Moncton.
For my wife and I, NB healthcare has been pretty much of a nightmare. It's not very streamlined and so much is half ass here. Can you imagine going to a lab and they don't know what a standing order is or get your results weeks or months later? Or even doing the wrong test and ticking of a doctor and have to start all over again with not accountability nor apologies. Not uncommon here.
Also walk in clinics are few and far between and do not do procedures and treatments that we see done in walk in clinics in other provinces. We were spoiled where we came from; we're we used to going to walk in clinics for x-rays, ECGs, stress tests, and minor surgical procedures that could be done the same day and get results back the next day or go online to look at them.
You are covered in NB by your ON plan until your coverage starts in NB.
@@rps1689 oh awesome! Thank you for the clarity! That’s helpful and great peace of mind!
@@Steve-Cap My pleasure. Keep in mind it is a "have not" province also a company province. Research the place thoroughly. I'm here as a transient, but not for much longer. Born and raised here, but lived elsewhere for over 33 years.
I am a single mom thinking of moving to NB from Toronto. I want affordability and I feel like I am being pushed out of Ontario. Would you recommend a single parent move there?
Hi Mareka ty for watching. In the video we cover our experience, cost of living wage and so on. I recommend doing some research on wages here and what rent is here. Calculate your expenses based on what the minimum wage is ( 11.75) I recommend looking for something that pays more such as Call centre customer service jobs or whatever your qualifications are bc I dont think anyone with children can survive on minimum wage. Regarding Carribbean presence here, there are sprinkles here in Moncton, St John's, and fredericton and probably other places. There is a stronger African diaspora here especially the French speaking African diaspora. It is not like Ontario Socially. If you enjoy socializing with friends and family and your coming here on your own it will be challenging for you to stay here. Consider it like you are moving to a brand new country. I hope that helps.
@@whatsnext5562 Thanks for responding! Thanks for all these things to consider. I actually can work remotely and the company I work for here has 3 locations in NB. I would love to buy out there. Just wondering if we will find a nice fit there. Would love an episode about how the kids adjusted.
Wait for me IAM coming
They have Dix a Lee that Toronto does not have and being outside Is great for you and your kids. You can grow your own food with no chemicals.Im from N.B and will be moving back because N.B Is for everyone and easy to get along with all of the people.Learning French or English If you dont speak It Is only a part of life.I lived 30 years In Toronto , but the diference In the cost of living beats every where else. There are many things you can learn about Canada and real people who like to get to know you , unlike Toronto.
We are from Jamaica and are planning to move there next year! I am so glad to see you all there

@@whatsnext5562 oh nice! We are in Clarendon hopefully we'll be there soon
This was a great insight on New Brunswick living, we’re considering relocating to there from Ontario as well. Thanks for sharing 😊
