  • In this talk, Alan Watts discusses our tendency to differeniate ourselves
from the external world, how in doing so we create a false sense of
separateness or ego. He introduces the central ideas behind Daoism:

    04:06 If I were God...
    05:20 The vulnerable self
    07:10 Self-consciousness
11:30 Difference is the way through which unity is discovered
13:30 The philosophy of yang and yin
18:08 How does one get the Dao?
    20:48 This is you
22:27 There needs to be surprise
    24:24 Dao & Relativity

The transition from the still song after sadhguru to the tape recorder for the entrance of alan watts was perfect 😂 like a lion entering his domain

I mean, sadhguru kinda seems a bit of a guru...
I'm using the word guri as the way J. Krishnamurti describes a guru.

Once there was a Mystical tree with an abundance of leaves. One leaf says to another leaf, " I'm so very afraid. It's getting colder and if the temperature keeps plummeting we will all surely die."
The other leaf says to the scared leaf,"Can't you see! You're not afraid because you're going to die, you're afraid because you've mistaken your stem for your roots. You're actually rooted much deeper than you believe."

I was a mystical tree before and all the leaves were complaining to me. That they are going to dry out and die I said well you should have been drinking more of the water I gave you.

    Maya means an illusion.
Maya means you are not seeing it the way it is.
I love the intro to this video.

      When you get a moment-
Do you know who is speaking in the intro?
I was going to quote him in my book.

@@The_Eternal_Now After some digging, the quote appears to be from Ramana Maharshi, a renowned spiritual teacher and philosopher in Advaita Vedanta

I guess it's the same with every kind of "duality" (not in the classical sense) in life..both sites of the coin are inseparably linked together, like joy and pain, right and wrong, lightness and darkness, you and me..we wouldn´t even be able to perceive or understand a single instance of reality without those apparent opposites..becauses one cannot exist without the other..
