    Hi Andy, does the machine know how fast you are driving and varies the rate/pressure as you drive? How do you know how much product/water you need per field? Is it just a bit of a guessing game? If you have any left if the tank at the end of the day what do you do with it? Sorry for all the questions but just find it very interesting!

    • @7930james
      @7930james 4 роки тому

      Sam Kemp not sure about his machine but there is usually a chart that says how fast to drive, you then look to see what water rate you need, doxstar pro usually requires 300-400L a ha, then youd look at the chart again at the speed you go, them find the water volume you are doing and this will give you your required pressure to run at. For the amount required all chemical is different. Doxstar pro can be either 1+1L a hectare so one spray in spring and one in autumn in 200l of water or one spray at 2L a hectare in 300-400L of water. Usually your agronomist would advise you on this

    • @Itsafarminglifeforme
      @Itsafarminglifeforme  4 роки тому

      Hello yes the farm manager prints me out a job sheet with all the information on what fields to spray with what and how much chemical and water rate to apply to the field it also has a list of fields the need spraying with there exact area so we don't have chemical left over at end of day. The Bateman uses its gps speed reading to vary the water pressure depending in speed so it keeps to the same water rate whatever speed the machine moves.

    Piston liners could be the issue with the water getting into the oil. That would be one of the last thing after trying the radiator. They are relatively cheap to replace. Just time consuming.

    Do you find 3000L for your size farm is a bit small? Surely you’re filling up all the time and you’ve got some nice sized fields as well.

    • @Itsafarminglifeforme
      @Itsafarminglifeforme  4 роки тому +1

      Hi yes could do with 4000 really and we did ask for 4000 but they said the machine is not strong enough for 4

    I don't think getting the head tested was a waste of time at all. It can only be one or more of three things, cracked head, cracked block, or the most likely, I blown gasket. Best to get it tested while you've got it off.

    I def watch all the videos and love them but I will have to be honest that as a scientist both herbicides and pesticides are bad news for humans. They are designed to kill organic matter with a particular strain but a certain % even though small ends up either in the water system / in the food chain and cannot be good for human consumption. I know people will argue it but where I work we have found traces of herbicide formulae in different foods and worse than that traces of roundup, even in beers bought over the counter. If they werent harmful then why would humans need any precautionary measures when filling sprayers etc. Def bad bad news. The problem is not the impact of one time exposure but exposure over many years.

    • @Itsafarminglifeforme
      @Itsafarminglifeforme  4 роки тому +3

      Hello thank you for your comment i can believe everything your saying but the reason those things are happening is because a small percentage of farmers with bad farming practice for example spraying before rain when the ground is already saturated and pre-harvest roundup, it is illegal to spray roundup on malting barley but if traces are being found in beer then some farmers must be doing it. I don't think the world can farm efficiently and feed the world without pesticides and it is just a shame that a small number of farmers making bad decisions makes every farmer look bad. Andy

    • @4DModding
      @4DModding 4 роки тому

      @@Itsafarminglifeforme Not sure I agree, Roundup is just bad news whenever its used and Monsanto clearly know it. 40 odd types of beers have been found to have traces of glycosate in 2020, even organic veg where it the weed killer was in the water source used to add moisture to organic crops. It should be banned world wide and live with lower yields supplemented by government payments. But understand your side of the argument. I have heard multiple farmers saying roundup is safe (Monsanto say same) and has no impact to humans. My argument, if you believe that then dilute it and drink it and prove the point vs. making anecdotal statements, but that is an argument for another day.
