- Hull-House is widely considered one of the most haunted places in Chicago. There are many accounts of paranormal activity occurring within its walls and Jane Addams Hull-House Museum is an avidly-pursued location for ghost hunters and paranormal investigators. For the first-time Hull-House invited ghost hunters to spend an evening looking for The Devil Baby, The White Lady and other spirits that have haunted Hull-House for over one hundred years. Before they entered the museum, Hull-House Education Coordinator Nadia Maragha interviewed Ryan Bergara and Shane Madej of Ghost Files.

About Jane Addams Hull-House Museum:
Jane Addams Hull-House Museum serves as a dynamic memorial to social reformer Jane Addams, the first American woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, and her colleagues whose work changed the lives of their immigrant neighbors as well as national and international public policy. The Museum preserves and develops the original Hull-House site for the interpretation and continuation of the historic settlement house vision, linking research, education, and social engagement
The Museum is located in two of the original settlement house buildings- the Hull Home, a National Historic Landmark, and the Residents' Dining Hall, a beautiful Arts and Crafts building that has welcomed some of the world's most important thinkers, artists and activists.
The Museum and its many vibrant programs make connections between the work of Hull-House residents and important contemporary social issues.
Founded in 1889 as a social settlement, Hull-House played a vital role in redefining American democracy in the modern age. Addams and the residents of Hull-House helped pass critical legislation and influenced public policy on public health and education, free speech, fair labor practices, immigrants’ rights, recreation and public space, arts, and philanthropy. Hull-House has long been a center of Chicago’s political and cultural life, establishing Chicago’s first public playground and public art gallery, helping to desegregate the Chicago Public Schools, and influencing philanthropy and culture.
"top ghost hunter ryan bergara and shane madej" the boys are getting the recognition they derseve!
I literally "rewound" the video to be like "omg did they really get called that." Love it! haha
Cut to Shane fighting a ghost 😂
I laughed really hard at this point if im honest
Feel proud
Theyre the only ones i take seriously. They deserve it.
"Puppet history is my personal favorite". Ryan : 🙂
I really really enjoyed hearing Nadia talk about how the afterilfe fits in with her personal belief system and the way that she interfaces with it while working at a place like Hull-House. I think just hearing from people about how their belief systems allow them to approach lingering energies/spirits/ghosts whatever is really fascinating and just lovely to hear
No ghost hunter will ever top the cultural reset that is the ghoul boys. History lessons ain’t ever been better!
I really enjoyed this interview! I like how real everyone was, cool to see Ryan and Shane not in their “characters”. The interviewer did a super good job too! Great questions and I love that they know who Shane and Ryan are .
Dude "character"
They are always in character xD
they’re not in “character” cause there is no character
guys by “character” I mean their on camera personalities. Everyone has an on camera persona. Doesn’t mean it’s different it’s just like slightly more. Lol
@@awinzuuu They definitely ham it up for the cameras. They're the same people, just turned up to 11. This is their calm everyday versions of themselves. :)
Came as a Shane and Ryan fan, leaving as a Nadia fan. So interesting to hear her talk about djinn. I come from a very different spiritual background, but that's always how I was taught to understand spirits too. I always find it cool when there's little similarities between cultures that are otherwise quite different 😊
I think you would enjoy Joseph Campbell's The Hero With A Thousand Faces
he compares a lot of similarities between cultures and their myths
As a fellow muslim i'm just very happy that Nadia got to share about her belief here. Her description on perceiving the supernatural is mostly similar to mine, being an Unsolved/Ghost Files fan i've always wanted to tell Ryan&Shane about the different way us muslims experience thing so it's nice that Nadia had done exactly that. This interview was very enjoyable, thank you!
Hearing Shane talk about how Ryan used to talk about crimes and ghosts with Brent, kinda feels like a couple talking about their exes lol
😂😂😂😂😂
It freaked me out that her last name was almost a combination of their last names. I know, not super relevant, but it really jumped out at me.
Oh wow that’s actually kind of funny
Same
Absolutely amazed. As someone who has been a fan for a long time, I’ve always gone into episodes with an admiration for their personalities, their humor, and a general appreciation of the content. But I never thought about it too hard why it’s so great. Their point that they would go to some locations and not find much, it’s true, that is endearing. But the respect they have for the history and the education all while making it entertaining. It’s really fulfilling and amazing.
As fan of Ghost Files and cool buildings with two social worker parents, I'm extremely glad that Nadia of UIC conducted this interview so we could all learn more about the history itself. Love to learn about Jane Addams and the home of DJ Nighttime Dan.
This is random but i love her flower pen. Ryan and Shane are super chill and have so much cool stories. And Nadia had great questions too.
They have similar pens at dollar stores, often 🙂
I’m a nurse and we had to switch to all flower pens because the DOCTORS STOLE ALL OUR PENS!!
They don’t steal flower pens. Though I don’t know why they’re super cute.
@@brittanydehaan9019 😅
@@brittanydehaan9019 this is amazing ❤
I should be sleeping since I have uni tomorrow, but Shane and Ryan are more important
And that’s how I end up pulling an all nighter - worst part? My classes start at 8am and finishes at 2.40pm except for mon-wed classes I start at 10 and finish at 12 so I don’t feel guilty the nights before 😂😂😂
I thought I’d need a break because of how long the video is but that didn’t happen .. very impressive .. you were able to keep me focused and not bored of the video.. it was actually entertaining-eye opening-interesting-funny and just very genuine and unedited which certainly played a huge part .. well done guys
Nadia has a lovely laugh, it's so darling! Nice little interview, love to see it.
rip shane, now a respected ghost hunter
Los hermanos fantasmas are all over UA-cam. "Top ghost hunters". Love it.
These two made the interview so well-done, they just seem so easy to talk to and have a lot to say... with wholesome honesty and some comedic attributes. This was really good.
this was a great interview! very raw and sincere, loved it
Thanks for this! Very lovely, chill and professional interview. It's been interesting to learn about the house too, I might actually stick around on the channel.
As a fan of Shane & Ryan, I stumbled on this as a suggestion on the Ghost Files page. Great interview!
No shade to Brent, but I'm sooooo glad he rejected the project. Shane is the real true pairing for Ryan. That's what made them so successful.
@@OpalBLeigh I've been rewatching the first season of Buzzfeed Unsolved True Crime, and in my very own personal opinion I felt his energy a bit more aggressive. Not that Shane and Ryan never fight because they do, but their fights are funny and sometimes they build the same kind of jokes. Brent gave me this vibe of just rejecting everything Ryan said haha, I don't know. But then again, it's just my opinion :)
Honestly, insightful and fun answers. Great interview facilitated by a great interviewer.
Nadia is absolutely stunning in every way, I could easily listen to hours of her talking about history!
To see the ghoul bois in such a serious setting and tone is so crazy and funny for me
This needs more views!!!!
"Thanks for inviting us, we'll see if you regret that in a few months" what the heck Ryan 😂
Shane Madej being out here using his history hyperfixation as a bartering tool to gain access to investigating historical spaces.
I see him also trying to help out an educational space gain some traction on the internet to spread his joy in curiousity.
Keep it up watcher boys.
As a fan of both Jane Adams/ the activist roots of social service as well as these two characters, I was delighted to find this. ❤
as a person who loves everything ghosty and ghoulie hearing about devil baby and hearing this interview is what made me addicted to scary stuff even if there is a demon devil baby walking around smoking a cigar and has a raspy sounding voice!
Nice! Found this randomly is really good well done UA-cam algorithm
'Some of these stories are modern' SHOUTOUT TO NIGHTTIME DAN
Nadia did amazing! Such a great interviewer! I do not know how she kept it together 😂
“top ghost hunters” hell yeahhhhhhhhh
Yeah come to Scotland and stay with me! I got married at Dalhousie castle and had a spooky experience and the night porter showed me a photo of their ghost, lady Catherine 👻
love that shane is called a "ghost hunter".
loved this so much!
"Man I'd love to burp that baby" Adding this one to the Ryan Bergara hall of fame
I still want to know if Shane is a cubs or white sox fan!
Nadia! Did you experience increased activity after the bois stirred things up?
This video beats all other videos on this channel combined. No wonder the ghoul boys visited such a no name place. Never heard of it.

“Um”
I’m just like Shane fr. My brain is far too logical to believe in ghosts but I’d LOVE to be proven wrong!
Ryan said "talking to a puppet" so casually, as if he hadn't KILLED the professor. It's so surprising how casually some killers will talk about their victims
What ep is that? Can you send me the link if possible?

@@mimzy7455 thank you
Nadia's ability to basically sit back and let them talk, while still asking insightful questions and interjecting with interesting comments, is really refreshing. I'm so used to seeing interviews where the interviewer doesn't let their guests talk, that this is nice to see!
I love how their interviews always go from profesional questions and then to Ryan talking about a baby smoking fat cigarettes
Ya, how often does SHANE have to put RYAN back on track 😂
@@amandaschmidt9528 Makes it funnier when Shane kinda gets on Ryan's nerves during investigations, especially the first episode of Ghost Files. xD
As a stressed college student at UIC I was extremely surprised that Shane and Ryan are here 💀
Underrated comment tbh
What are you majoring in?
I wish you all the best
UIC should make that building as dorm for students. Lol
@@grapefruitsyrup8185 no. They would destroy it!
@@TarHeelForevah exactly. As someone who taught at a school where they rented such a mansion 9 mos/year to use as a dorm, I can back that up
Nadia did a great job interviewing them! I'm sad that some of the anecdotes that she talked about didn't make the final cut of the Ghost Files episode (like the devil baby smoking cigars 💀), but it was great to hear more about Hull-House and its supposed ghosts
THE DEVIL BABY WHAT
agreed! the history of the locations are my favorite part of the episodes they make, so hearing from people who actually work within the locations to preserve / teach its history is very cool 😎
I think that The Devil Baby grew up into Nighttime Dan.
seeing Ryan struggling to keep himself together and not get too goofy is so funny to me. meanwhile, Shane acts like his dad and tries to keep him chill lol
Nadia was so good- that intro tho!! She needs a podcast!! Great interview- Ryan and Shane made me laugh, also cool to hear more about their journey. Also happy there are (working) subtitles.
yes Nadia make a podcast pls!!
i'd listen to nadia do a podcast about jane addams and the hull-house. history, interviews, current events, ect. she's really great at communicating.
Nadia is expert at gently redirecting the guys and actually listening to them. I admire her immensely! I'd listen to her interviewing people.
the lack editing of this interview makes it so funny because you can see how off-track they can be lol. and props for nadia for not rushing things and actually listens to them (and her laugh is heartwarming!)
That's one of the things I love about Shane and Ryan... they don't BS the fans, they don't turn to fake scares to make the episodes 'interesting' like ALL of the other ones do. Bravo, lads, please don't change. I love the banter.
Fantastic interview! I loved how Nadia balanced professional interviewing and being a fan. The enthusiasm was infectious all around.
I think that ghost stories are a great entry point into history and I adore this museum inviting the ghoul boys to bring a light on this home and its illustrious (and spooky!) inhabitants.
love to see a museum reaching out to more people!! its such a great way to educate new audiences :)
Ryan just goes “is that a functional fireplace?”That is so Ryan!😂
This video is very well put together! It’s very refreshing to see museums embrace using the internet and UA-cam to share their information with a wider audience
Nadia and the Jane Addams Hull-House crew -- this was a really fun way to feature the site to wider audience. Thanks for organizing it :)
this is such an interesting interview!! and nadia is such a lovely person, im very thankful she explained how her personal beliefs play into how she approaches the supernatural history of the house and the entities that might be chilling there bc its fascinating!!
Boss Baby is a direct descendant of Devil Baby methinks
such a smart interview for such a goofy duo! hopefully they see this and give y’all a shout out.
this was really fun to watch!!
I love how they just go off on their own. Easy to interview. Zero dead air 😂
Such a wonderful and interesting video, Nadia! Thank you for sharing this and asking such interesting questions 👻 We're excited to see more from you! 🖤
It’s great to see the house in daylight! What a beautiful place.
(I did pause the Ghost Files video to read an article by Addams about the Devil baby. It was a fun find! From The Atlantic in the 1910s)
ryan's always handsome, but why is he a 4000% CERTIFIED SNACK rn?
It’s the hair and the muscles and the sexy interview behavior
@@babyvia6712 gotta be!
I loved this interview, learned so much about the house and loved the host! And as a Muslim, it was so overwhelmingly satisfying that she let them know about jinns! I watch every episode expecting those, not ghosts haha
Which part does she tell them about jinns
@@nario1706 51:16
I'm a minute in, and this is so sweet and proper and sophisticated, and it makes the Ghost Files episode even funnier. They complement each other nicely!
It is not Goat Man's bridge, now it is Shane's bridge
Thought Shane went to my middle school. Didn’t realize that there is a JA Jr. High and it’s not at all the same as my JA Middle School. Sad now, gonna go find a devil baby to smoke a cigar with.
Nadia was great! What a cool interview and what a cool place!
Nadia should have a talk show she’s so good at interviewing
Amazing interview with very thoughtful questions!
this interview was great, i loved seeing this side of shane and ryan~
Shane, Ryan, and Watcher! He fought a ghost!
Nadia should join a ghost files episode
I get the feeling Ryan and Shane had no idea this was going to happen
So funny that they just changed the topic to the fireplace
These are the only guys that dont use fake "evidence" in order to make their show better. Every other ghost show seemed like the producers planted some evidence to make things exciting
Ooh! Really happy UA-cam recommendations actually did some good this time and put this on my feed! This is lovely stuff.
I love the history part of ghost-hunting shows, so this interview is very interesting!
Shoutout to Nadia! Great interview
"Top ghost hunters".. sheeessssshhh..wow
ty for opening up the place for this kinda stuff! I was raised in spring grove up north n was always a bit bummed that seemingly every haunted place or area with some sorta spooky happenings was always forever far away and or more often completely out of state, also hearing shane was from IL too brings me ton of IL pride!
Thanks again for opening it up for a whole new generation of interested peoples!
Well after watching this. We defo do need the name for us in between, because I don’t believe there is a life after death. I like to believe we reincarnate but some can get stuck for some reason, but not normally. And then there are energies that were never humans, that are somewhat more than humans. Some call them demons and angels, some energies, whatever you like.
Yeah that’s a principle in reincarnation! You should look into the belief since you have your own ideas of it & it’s a centuries old belief that’s fairly fleshed out
@@justdeletemepleaseyoutube thanks. I did look into it several times. Just meant to explain myself here in an easy way. Also i do not believe 100% of it, and that’s fine we can all believe in some aspects of things. It’s a topic no one can explain with certainty so 🤷🏻♀️ we believe based on our experiences + what we like
This is really neat.
Amazing job Nadia! Loved the interview so much
Wait, was that your own version of the unsolved outro song? The one that plays when the next video recommend??
Shane!! You big flirt! I felt for Ryan as you kept yourself from the usual outlandish, often grotesquely wonderful, outbursts, BUT, you also curbed Ryan to try and impress the clever pretty academic lady. Well done Ryan, you stuck to your guns and I applaud it.
I love how the boys were the "Ghoul Boys" and now they've become "top ghost hunters". Feel proud
Ryan & Shane trading ghosts for giggles since 2016.
Love the humble beginnings that you haven’t lost.
30:11 LMAO RYAN CAUSING UTTER CONFUSION AND ALARM JUST CASUALLY SAYING "PEOPLE TELL ME IM A MURDERER"
I love how, if you didn't know them, in the presentation they come across as kinda serious like 'oh two experts, cool' and then the interview unfolds lmfao GHOUL BOYS IN CHAT
Top ghost hunters💀
I think I'd love it if the fireplace was working and they're interviewing the Ghoul Boys as the fire lights up the background... it would've been lovely. But glad that they get featured! I was expecting a lot in the comments and I find the Ghoul Boys very professional in this despite their usual selves in their set. Salute to the boys! Congrats!
Kudos to Nadia for a great interview with well planned questions.
I'm so sad Shane didn't find the Devil Baby smokin' a stogie and chillin' on the stairs... and Ryan didn't get the chance to burp the Devil Baby.😭
Great video that popped up in my recommendations since I'm a fan of the ghoul boys! Thanks for sharing this beautiful house with us all! ✌️💙
I'm so happy that you have put the concept of jinn in their radar i love that
Ooo more hull house ghost files content!!
