Riding April Boards since half a year now and they have probably the best allround shape, at least for my personal taste. Not too mellow but mellow enough for tech skating, big nose and BBS wood. The amount of times I landed wrong and didn't break the board because of how flexible the wood is is ridiculous (and I'm not a leightweight). Love it
I’m currently skating the primitive twin nose 8.25 shape. Thunder 148 team hollows, Bronson G3s, spitfire 54 mm radials and mob grip. The shorter wheel base took getting used to.
the deck screws are a good idea. the concept is why everyone used rat nuts aka sex bolts but when rails went away....then came back, rat nuts were replaced by dinky self tappers.
been skating april and girl for the past 2 years, love their shapes! april has a nice standard nose with a similar tail that doesn’t taper off that much, mellow concave, super solid shape. (btw yes i live in the states and i love a girl deck!)
I have never skated an Apr. I am kind of surprised you haven't skated one before. You seem like Shane O'Neal would be your kind of skater. I like the pepper Grip right now. It may be a little thin but am seeing how long it lasts. My go to setup is an 8.75 Flat Nose All I Need skateboard with ACE 55 Trucks (moving to 60), X99 wheels, Bronson G3 bearings. I know I skate a lot of boards but that is my go too. I need to try your rail mounting technique sometime. I still do it OG style with sex bolts. Awesome of you to give the board away. I am sure there are a bunch of 90s skaters that would be hyped on an 8" Girl board. I don't put giveaway in the titles either, until I am announcing the winner. I too like the ride or dies to get the board. Stay Rad My Friend
Im not good enough to skate with rails yet but seen a lot of people with them lately, I like the solid black grip tape and from time to time just a line towards the tail side. I ride an 8.5 DEATH skateboards deck, 55 ACE trucks, Quantum Bearings TJ Rogers, 54 mm Spitfire Sapphire wheels, shake junt Andrew Reynolds bolts and whatever grip my board came with. Still Relearning to skate and probably will stick with this set up for a while.
I totally forgot about that pinch technique for gripping. Very nice job on the set up. I’m still attempted to get an April deck, but I just got a snake farm deck so maybe in a little bit.
My current set up - 8.5 Deathwish Foy twin with pepper galaxy grip & 5.8 Venture hollow axel and kingpin stock bushings(purple). Spitfire 54 conical fulls with Bronson g3s with the shields popped
I don't know if many people know this but MOB grip tape actually is labeled by its gritty ness I think it goes up to maybe a level 8-10 being the most grippy while a lower number like 2-4 is going to be less grippy I'm riding a number 2 and it feels about as grippy as grizzly grip tape when you go to the shop you gotta look for it yourself otherwise they'll just grab you any sheet of standard mob the number is on the back of the grip on the brown paper back side
As someone who just got back into skating I find it so funny that 8" is too big of a board for people now a days 🤣 i used to skate a 7.75 while friends were ripping 7.5. oh how times have changed. I just bought a 8" deck recently so I don't need another. I hope it finds a good home 😊
I want the board and live in the US. I ride an 8.25 from a local woodshop (SkatePaige), I buy uncut blanks and cut the shape myself. I have Thunders and Indys, 50mm wheels.
To your setup inquiry: Ive been skating a primitive boards 8.125 with a 14 wheelbase. Thunder trucks either lights or hollow lights in a 147 and 51-52 mm spitfire F4 classics. I was thinking of trying an April because their 8.125s are the same as the primitives. Also, primitives have been snapping easily. I cracked a brand new board on a board slide and I’m a really light guy. How are april boards? Pop? Durability? Feel?
@@KevinNiceTry true can’t go wrong with spitfires, I was asking cuz mine come in the mail next week and I’m scared I won’t like them haha formulas 4 been my go to for years
im looking at getting one of these, probably the Yuto Fuji deck off tactics. I ride 139 Indys and currently have an 8.25 romero toy machine. before that I was skating 8.0 bakers. do you think it's a narrower 8.25 compared to other brands since it's a BBS?
I too live in the US and want both boards. I’m hoping I win but either way someone’s getting lucky. I’m really curious about our 8 inch deck with a 14.25 wheelbase. That seems kind of odd.
I wasn't superstitious about red top plys either until I shattered my collarbone into 7 pieces while skating a red top 😂😂😂 ✌️ I'll say a prayer for ya brother
5'11" but I recently found out via biking that I have a long torso and short legs. My inseam is like 30" haha. Probably explains why I prefer a short wheelbase.
It was too big, and I sold it back to the bike shop at a loss. It's a shame they didn't bother to measure me or size me at all. Learned my lesson, and they lost a customer.

You never said you wanted the board … lol
Just wanna say: I don't live in the US so I don’t want to take part, but good to see that so many people are watching this! :)
Good video
T tool with ventures is wonky but doable if you got a can-do attitude!
Also use 7/8” hardware if using a T-tool, or just get Diamond Hardware as they include a wrench
I live in the states and I'm short for cash for the next deck! D: I've been thinking I wanted to size down from 8.125, as well.
I live in the United States and I would love a Board ! 🤟 love your vids

Not a fan of bones. The new Spitfires are great, very happy with them. Venture gang 💥
@@KevinNiceTry true can’t go wrong with spitfires, I was asking cuz mine come in the mail next week and I’m scared I won’t like them haha formulas 4 been my go to for years
You will like them. Feel super close to the formula four 99s but better on cracks and such.
