Game: Take it slow, explore the forest, don't try to force progress and just look around. Librarian: It's really hard already, I think this is a sign to bumrush the next area.
A bit of advice... you don't need to make a molotov to burn away the toxic stuff, swinging a torch at them works as well, and using fuel to make a torch doesn't use the whole gas canister, only a set amount, plus a good investment in a pickle instead of looking for alcohol or going back home. (and if i remember correctly, hitting an enemy with a lit torch lights them on fire, which makes them panic a bit) You can climb through any window that's not barricaded. And last but not least, you can and should use the crafting table as a chest/storage for your items.
- Stamina management, *Quick Attack,* and *Dodge,* are crucial components of combat. Most enemies have a pretty narrow hitbox that can be sidestepped. Quick Attack = [Mouse3] Dodge = [LeftCtrl] - *Animals* often have valuable items/upgrades if killed. *Stones* work fine for rabbits. The elk requires some ingenuity. - The edges of the forest have *hidden overgrown corpses* which have various useful items. - *Gasoline* can be poured on the ground, which can then be lit by *matches.* You can get creative with this - turning it into a timed fuse, a wall of fire, or an extra dmg bump to your chain traps/bear traps. - Consumable items like alcohol, bread, and odd meat apply various *status effects* that can be very useful in a pinch. Experimentation is encouraged.
A few more tips: If you want to survive in this house without barricading all the windows and using a lot of resources doing so, you can barricade your entrance door and pull the dresser in front of the door leading from your entrance to the room with the workbench. I havent had any situations getting killed when hiding away like that, and have been able to focus my resources elsewhere. If you do this, remember to also drag a lamp in there or the darkness might get to you. When it comes to hand to hand combat, you should try to matador your enemies - works great with anything charging you, like the dogs for example. When they attack/charge, you circle to the side having them miss with their attack, but still being close enough for you to smack them. It takes a bit to get the timing down with hitting them, but dodging their atttacks is pretty easy. They only take 3-4 hits. When you get this down, it will open up a lot of the first area, as you can pick off the enemies insted of having to run.
And most importantly, the crafting bench has a huge inventory for you to put items into. You can also reposition and deposit items into the various shelves around your safehouse.
Leaving meat at periphery of your property can also make wild dogs less interested in checking out your safehouse. Don't ask why, it just works. Additionally, glass bottles can be thrown on the ground to create a *shattered glass trap.* It has a DoT effect and stacks with all other traps, doesn't hurt you, and can one shot dogs. This combo makes bear traps lethal 90% of the time. Apply gasoline for the other 10% lmao.
The game is quite long, but as long as you are figuring stuff out and comments would help out, I think you could beat this fairy faster than everage playthough, don't worry though, this game has much much twisted stuff and decisions to offer! Hope you have fun. also quick tip, there is a log area (near your base) marked on your map, collect logs there and you can cut them up into planks (there is a sawcutter machinery hugging your house wall) costing you fuel. very good investment early in the game
Also,.don't forget you can use planks to barricade the windows and doors for protection, but not being able to traverse through it without cutting it down.
Hmm, so thing to note about avoiding enemies during the night; unobstructed windows provide line of sight to the outside for you, BUT they also allow creatures to see you. Hence why you got attacked by a creature that night and died (also depending on the patrolling creatures, they may be sensitive to sound, but I am not 100% sure of this, I would advise not to make too much noise when you hear something outside though). Unbarricaded/obstructed windows can be climbed through by both you and any creatures outside, and once they see you, they will proceed to pursue you (aggression is generally higher at night). This mostly only stays true though for non-night event based enemies. Sometimes anomalous stuff happens, and I figure I'll just warn you to listen carefully for any strange noises and stay on your guard (also stay away from windows and keep as quiet as you can if you feel like something's creeping up on you in the middle of the night. Exceptions are possibly knocking on the door (special events require you to check for items), and a few other cases which you will know when you encounter them. As for reputation, it appears to be tracked independently by each reputation vendor. Though it is only the ones that visit your house that will gain reputation for every night you survive fully. I am not sure if you lose reputation if you die each night, but I know for sure it means you do not gain any if you do die before morning hits, which is how the game punishes you for dying within your shelter during the night.
You need a watch it tells you the exact time and 20:00 is night, and you will instantly die if caught outside your home at night. You cannot kill the shadows, you chose that negative perk and they are only stopped by the light, the perks made at the oven come with risks that are permanent. Do not sell rare cloth even though it is valuable, if you sell it you will hate yourself later. Odd meat, mushrooms, red eggs, and the rare mushrooms which appear only during night rot over time but can be used for more essence. Stockpile wood, nails, and any other supply you can find inside the space of your workbench. Chain traps dont do damage and only limit movement. Wells can be used once per day. Torches can be used as light and melee, and can remove the toxic infection. There is good and bad decisions with consequences, if you listen to the people who give you the quests you can prevent future problems. You can vault over fences and through unbarricaded windows. (Do not loot the bloated corpses) (Do not look at the banshees)
Chain traps might not do damage, but they're very cheap _and_ you reclaim the full cost if they're disarmed. Very good for controlling the horde, breaking chases, and for locking down dark areas of the safehouse.
I know this is way late, but you don't instantly die if caught outside, you're chased by black and red clouds that are much faster than you but still avoidable if you're close enough to your hideout, and you can tank a couple hits before you die if you're at decent health.

Good to see more! And with the things you encountered, I got a lot to talk about. So the enemies you’ve met this session; that loud growly thing in the tunnel was a (baby) Red Chomper. Nastiest enemy in the game, molotovs or guns highly advised. The thing that got you in your home/met at the Shrine that made a noise was a Savage. Three different kinds, unarmed, rock thrower, and staff wielder. The staff can be looted, can’t be repaired, but its easier to hit with than the 2x4. You got a knock on the door! But I think you took too long to answer the door, or answered the wrong door, some hideouts have multiple doorways in. Not answering the door can be result in your door being damaged. Speaking of getting in, your windows are not barricaded, so you AND enemies can vault over them as they please Trader man’s got a lot of stuff, and he restocks everything everyday. The watch is *very* helpful for knowing how much time you actually have. The shadows that attacked you were a Night Event. They kill all but one of your lights, and attack in the dark. They even kill torches, lamps, and flashlights. Flares can fend them off if you have no light nearby. Mushrooms do not regrow; there is a Night Event that spawns mushrooms outside your home if you’re brave. So, try not to step on shrooms in the wild!
Each consecutive night you survive in an area you gain more reputation with the trader that appears in your home. If you die your streak is reset and you gain no additional reputation until you survive another night. Surviving is extremely important to getting set up in the game, especially since each day that passes makes the game more intense. There is a point of no return if you slack off too much
With this said you could trap the traders with a bear trap, kill them, and try to steal their stuff. The wolf man in particular has some good items. But decisions like this have consequences attached to them. For example you'll never be able to trade with these characters again, they won't be able to give you quest, and they will never have new items appear for you to barter. Also it's just not the way I think the game was intended to be played on a first go
Those roots around the house might not be roots at all. They could be mycelium from the mushrooms; a lot of people forget the main part of a mushroom isn't the fruiting body or the cap, but the mycelium beneath it.
44:47 you skipped some dialogue, really have to be careful with that, traders might have important things to say Also your workshop is a massive storage space, very useful
Wow, I remember playing this game 4 years ago, and documenting all night events that happened in the first hideout. Hope you enjoy this game Librarian, and don't worry about the decisions you make.
Killing the enemies and getting their loot during the night is beneficial but not as important as simply not dying. Thankfully the enemies don't automatically know where you are unless they see you. Hint: You might avoid unwanted attention simply by re-arranging the furniture.
I find Visage's use of subtlety in its attempt to terrify the player to be absolutely marvellous: the scary events are used sparingly, and thus create tension and anxiety I haven't felt in a horror game in quite some time; as the circumstances allowed my imagination to pressure me the most. Give it a try, if you will - I was not disappointed, and your take on it would be most entertaining.
I do not know why but i like that this game takes place in poland because of poland is mostly fields and small towns which makes this game ideal for the strange forest infection
My only advice is to keep a good pace with the progress and exploration. There's a lot to see but if you try to check every corner in a single playthrough the game gets dull. If the nights start to feel more of a chore than a challenge, it's time to move to the next area.
Hello all! Dont watxh this playthough if you want a blind playthrough. This lets player uses twitch people to tell him what to do. He gets the bike bell right. He is told to open the door when it knocks..he is told where to go. Dont watch if you want a blind playthrough.. I recommend keith ballards lets play. Much, better than this.
I always thought of making a really good survival horror it seems like a good way to make a good survival horror really smart enemies survival elements A landmark map but not exactly a map that shows you where are you exactly where you are maybe I’ll do it A Game that a slasher villain comes out at night but it’s a normal life simulator in the morning which means you have to do all your things in the morning before barricading your house and waiting out The night

Just replying to perhaps bump your comment up a bit.
You dont need the momotov? Man, i never knew that! Spent time getting enough molotoves to get through, haha. Good to know!

Every morning time remains frozen until you decide to leave your house.
You make almost every gameplay creepy but DEFENTLY comfy! :)

I love your videos a lot. My favourites are the exploration videos in VR, I always got the mood of the site you are, and it's awesome.
Watching him not have boarded any windows even on day 3 hurts me

I am beyond shocked that I caught this video with no views ~ Also love the series so far!
You mentioned having seen Annihilation, have you read the book series it was based on? It's incredible
