I have an explanation for the cabin doors opening outwards. In Finland, the outer doors of apartments, homes, businesses etc. opens outwards for a few reasons. 1: easier to exit the room/apartment etc. in case of emergency 2: Security. Unwanted "guests" can't just kick open the door. 3: Saving space. In a usual finnish home we tend to have a small room between the outer door and the apartment proper called a "windcloset". It stops the cold winter air from coming inside when the front door is open. This space is REALLY small so the door opens outwards. The Oasis Of The Seas was designed and built in Finland, in my home town of Turku to be exact. That is why the cabin doors open the way they do. It is a quirk of finnish design :) Unrelated little fact: i did my in-job training at the shipyard when they were making the Oasis. The hand rails on the top decks were in part welded by me :D
Great information. Thanks! Really cool that you worked on the ship. That has to be cool knowing millions of people are benefiting from your work! Thanks for watching and for the comment. - Tony
@@frankcarlone5130 If you mean the inner door then that depends on the layout. There are no set "rules" for that. Sometimes they leave out the windcloset entirely and just have two doors back to back, with the outer door opening outwards and the secondary inwards. The only constant is that outer door always opens outwards. It is among those weird things you just can't fully explain. :D
I would just like to say Thank you! Thank you for this review! I have seen other cruisers videos & not get all the information you guys are sharing. Totally appreciated! Also I appreciate the fact y’all are not begging for money.
We did the Allure of the Seas in October 2017. I loved Central Park. I was at the Trellis Bar every evening till close. The balcony sounds fun but I’d have to keep walking back and forth to the Trellis Bar ;-) Instead of a single USB charger check out those multi-port usb charging hubs. You can charge like 8 devices all at 2A on some models. I love how they play background cricket ambient noises at night. BTW they use acoustical noise cancelling to block out other sounds in central park.
I like the cabin designs but still prefer the way Princess has the closet near the bathroom away from the main space. Royal does have enough storage though for sure.
That Princess layout is pretty sweet and it made the interior cabin we were in seem bigger. I would like to see what balcony is like with that configuration. - Tony
i like that you guys support each other. that ship looks amazing. i am working a cruise on the Niew Statendam in a few weeks. cant wait for the Rolling Stone Room. I love billboard and bb king so this just makes it that much better! (HAL)
That did look like a nice cabin, and bonus was that it wasn't flooding! I am not sure if I would want to pay the extra money for a balcony if it didn't face the ocean...but you gave a nice review. Thanks for sharing!
The ocean view balcony is the best! I highly recommend it. It is so wonderful to see the ocean when you wake up in the morning and watching the ship coming into the ports. We always get one. BTW - it depends on what room you are in, whether your bed is next to the balcony or next to the closet. They are opposite - left right, left, right. If you had the room on the left, your bed would have been next to the closet. I do not care for that lay out as well. I like the bed by the balcony and the couch by the closet.
Someone commented the inside balcony was nice for if you are traveling with kids, they can go to sleep and you can go out on the balcony and listen to the music. You Can also see the ocean if at the aft but then a lot of walking to get to other parts of the ship. I’m still torn on aft inside balcony or mid ship ocean balcony, I won’t be going for awhile but by the time I do I will have it planned down to the exact room lol
I was on the Oasis in Aug 2018 nice ship really big. Lots of walking. Spent a lot of time in Central Park at the Trellis Bar except when it rained. Had an inside room kinda small. The shower was good but the bed took up most of the space.
Hey Tony. I’m wondering what your thoughts are now that you have stayed on an ocean view balcony. Would you still recommend this cabin? We just booked a Central Park balcony.
Thanks so much for this. We’re booked in a Central Park balcony cabin on Oasis in May. I appreciate your overview and thoughts as I’ve always had an ocean view balcony. I’m worried about hitting somebody with (or being hit by) the outward opening doors though!
Hello your video help me a lot, I have one question I have the same cruise April 12, 20 and my cabin is on the same deck 11th we are in the middle of the 🛳 ship. We are three of us, do we need to take an extra electric cord? It is too noisy in the park or is fun for my two 13, and 15 grandchildren? It’s the view directly to the park or does have items, metal or things blacking our view? Thank you in advance.
How was it compared to a regular balcony? I’ve considered one of these (or the Boardwalk balcony) but I love to look out at the sea. My experience is that they have sofa beds in all balcony rooms.
Great review...thanks! My husband has a rule...all hotel rooms and cabins must have a sofa if we are going to be there for more than a couple of nights! 😀. I want to book a Princess cruise for Alaska but hesitant as I can’t afford a mini suite and the other cabins don’t have a sofa. I am hoping that Being in Alaska will make up for it lol.
i was on that exact floor and that type of cabin. i loved it except i needed a fan because you don't get a breeze from a regular balcony with a sea view
The cabin looks really nice. My personal choice would be an ocean view balcony. If I’m on a ship it’s all about the ocean and water views. 😀. If I want a park view I’ll book a hotel. 😉

Interesting. Just out of curiosity, does the door to the "windcloset" open inward or outward?

You both always give great reviews and hints, thanks!! 😊😊😊💖👍🏼🛳
Great video I will have my first balcony cabin in may on the carnival miracle 😁
Thank you for this review - I booked this category on Oasis OTS out of Cape Liberty, NJ in May based on your review ♥️♥️♥️♥️😘

Very cool and roomy..love the Tv options
Great video, this is the room we want to book for Oasis when she comes to NJ next year.
We had a large inside room and a virtual balcony room on harmony and they both had couches too!
Just coming by to say hey from the future. BTW, this channel is killing it in subscribers here in 2022! 151k baby!

Funny finding this video today because this is the room we are looking at booking when Oasis come up to NJ in 2020. That or a promenade room.
Again this video was very informative to me, thank you 🙏 very much.
Thanks Tony&Jenny for this awesome review’ hope to sail on a Oasis Class ship 🚢 sometime!!😊😊🚢⚓️👍 #locafam❣️

The plastic that looks like water if it is as your describe it may be an anti-slip type coating.
A balcony is great. Spoils you. Fantastic on an Alaskan Cruise.
Have I recently told you guys how much I appreciate and love you?
Wonderful review. What are the freebies that come along with a Central Park booking?
I loved the shower all cruise lines need to do away with that Shower curtain love your view

I'm sold!! I want to book another cruise haha!😎😎
👍👍
All rooms that I have ever had on RC have couches in them. Even the interior rooms have them.
How was it compared to a regular balcony? I’ve considered one of these (or the Boardwalk balcony) but I love to look out at the sea. My experience is that they have sofa beds in all balcony rooms.
We haven't had a sea facing balcony yet. Will we have one on the MSC Seaside. Defintely will let you know! - Tony
Great Review!
I am in the same cabin in April

The couch does turn into a bed. We had a inside room on the Harmony and we also had a,couch.

do the balcony connect to the next door room?
They can be opened up.
The cabin looks really nice. My personal choice would be an ocean view balcony. If I’m on a ship it’s all about the ocean and water views. 😀. If I want a park view I’ll book a hotel. 😉
50 % of the balconies have the bed in front of the closet and the others have the bed by the balcony door
🙏❤️🙏
that plastic is SO RANDOM!
Sailed on Allure twice and Oasis once - always booked a Central Park cabin - my favorite place!!
How was the wifi??
On the Oasis it was fantastic
