    Enjoyed :-) Always intrigued as to what will be used on the cue ball, but it's simple shots effectively with either stun or a run-though, but by no means easy as it looks on the eye. Pre-shot routine plays a key part.

    First of all best wishes for the new year! And thank you for these fantastic lessons that you always put online. I have learned a lot from this. In the beginning I was just playing snooker for fun. If I potted a ball I was already happy. The last couple of years I really started to focus on the technique (also taping my shots on video to see what I was doing wrong) and thanks to these videos I started to get a lot better. Now I have my own routine for approaching the cue ball, seeing the line of aim, and so on. I also have my own snooker ball set (Aramith Tournament Champion 1G) because in a lot of snooker halls here in Belgium the quality of the balls is really bad. Most of them are chipped, have a lot of markings etc. I have my cue now for 10 years and very happy that I also bought this. All of this helps me to improve my technique.

    Is it not good to practice in a medium snooker table rather than the big one , for me it's no different , because the technique cue action and break building I'm working on remains the same right ?

    How come you have such a sound cue action and the contact is so smooth and responsive is it because the table is clean and the balls are too?

    • @BartonSnooker
      @BartonSnooker  4 роки тому +1

      As you say, it's all to do with the smoothest and control I have over the cue. The more control of the cue you have, the more you then control the cue ball and the object balls.

    Hi there, I've just started played snooker, I've been maybe 4 times for an average of 2 hours. I'm really struggling to pot one after another. Sometimes I'll pot 3 or 4 in a row and then I wont pot again for another 7 or 8 shots... it's getting frustrating

    • @vinsentchiffer157
      @vinsentchiffer157 4 роки тому

      That's where it goes wrog, u need to take your time after a miss. Check your body alignments and when you step into a shot, as soon as you feel uncomfortable, stand up and respositions.

    Hiya Steve, would you say it's an issue if my head is tilted to one side when I'm down on the shot?

    • @BartonSnooker
      @BartonSnooker  4 роки тому

      Maybe not... It is hard to know without seeing someone playing and finding out how you sight shots, how you're standing etc. So it's maybe not a problem, but it COULD be a problem because you aren't standing right for your ideal head position.

    • @mameeshit
      @mameeshit 4 роки тому

      @@BartonSnooker Thank you for your reply Steve. I'm trying to figure out the reason why I'm not consistent with my snooker. I seem to be able to cue straight (doing the exercise where I play the ball down the table from the brown spot, and it always ends up near my tip), with my aiming/sighting maybe being the issue.
      One of the lads at the club told me that the reason why I might be missing easy pots is because of my tilted head. Any ideas as to finding out what my problem is?

    I actually think the rules of snooker would make more sense if the colours were reversed. You would need very good positional shots to bag those 7 point blacks!

      One of the easiest things to do with the cue ball. Just hit the bottom of the ball hard with a straight action. Harder you hit it, further back it spins. 👍 and always make sure you have chalked your cue properly.

    Is it OK to bend both knees as a 6'5" player? Keeping one straight is very uncomfortable!

    • @BartonSnooker
      @BartonSnooker  4 роки тому

      Yes! Bend the leg for comfort. It's just as important to be comfortable as it is to be stable and solid. Finishing a comfortable consistent stance is crucial for improvement.

      Hi. Just very difficult to make it as a main professional in any sport. Although I have reached a very high standard of play, there are lots of other high quality players out there (most of which never achieve professional status).
      Therefore, as I have a very good understanding of the game and enjoy teaching, I get a lot of pleasure from helping other people achieve their goals in snooker.

    • @hamzanoormuhammad5459

      Also I could imagine - not sure if I am right - that as a professional player who is not let's say top 32 you cannot really make a living only by playing in tournaments. Many of the lower ranking professionals just make maximum a couple of thousands per year from tournaments , not enough even to pay rent. Jimmy White was recently saying he is spending more money to play snooker than what he is getting (not considering his other job as TV expert). On the other side you have to spend a lot of time for practice. While as a coach with clients it's much easier to earn good amount of money. Just my impression from what I have heard...
