Oh my gosh...I used to work 12 hour shifts..waking up in the dark and going home in the dark resisted with me so much....its tough I know but the early morning sunlight is truly amazing.
Handy tip when frozen in ...... run your engine in gear for a couple of minutes in forward, then a cpl of mins in reverse. This will break up the ice around your boat. It will aid movement of boats passing you, there'll be smaller ice sheets to scratch your own paintwork. But more importantly, it's good for the wildlife around you, giving them a patch of water rather than ice, & it's less tempting for dogs & cats to walk on. Just saying from experience of 25+ years of winter cruising with a cat & dog.
The drone footage is so good. It really adds to your already fantastic film making - and that’s how the vlogs feel, like beautifully crafted mini films that are so much fun to watch 😊
Great drone action guys! Absolutely love seeing the ice. We don’t get that cold down here 🇦🇺 so I find it fascinating seeing everything frozen, the thickness of the ice and hearing all the crunching. Thank you 😊
So glad you both are moving again. Amy i am so happy your feeling better. Getting out in the sunshine walking clearing out those lungs does the body good. Happy water ways.
I grew up in Rickmansworth, it's where I first fell in love with narrowboats, I would cycle down to the lock and hang out opening the gates for people (I was only about 12 ish) back in the days when it was perfectly ok to be gone from home all day on my bike and nobody worried!!! The good old days!
Great video. Love that you are using the drone. Sorry you were sick but hope you are fully recovered Amy. Wes and The Bears were extremely creative with the Elsan cleaning. So nice that your family came to spend time, and you had game night with family and The Bears! Happy cruising. 😊🤗 Kathy
Hello ☺ Good that you soak the bread for the ducks/swans, they can't digest dry bread or crackers properly. And Wes you should wear gloves doing the grotty cassette jobby 😂! Sending love and light to you both and the fur babies 🐰🐶 xx
One really get those poop experiences in frost.. 😐 Doops and Rufus go so well together, that is amazing. Yes, old rabbits are a bit sad to watch (I have an old rabbit too), they get stiff in their backs and cannot clean themselves so well. I believe that my rabbit is sad due to not being able to jump around any longer. All the best. 🤩
Very resourceful cassette cleaning solution....I hope we would have thought to do that in that situation! Poor Amy, what a horrible cold, glad you're better now!
Hi Amy and Wes. That ice was super thick. Glad you were able to cruise and get water in the end. Looks like you had a lovely time with family 🥰Take care. Nick
Hi from Canada! Sorry to hear that ice is holding up your plans. On the weekend my brother told me that the lake he was ice fishing on had 76 cm thick ice…plenty good to drive on with a vehicle.
Ice ice baby All right stop Collaborate and listen Winter is back with a brand new mission. Something grabs a hold of the boat tightly No flow it’s like a freezer daily and nightly. Will it ever stop? Yo, I don’t know. But there sure is a lot of Ice ice baby Yeah, ice ice baby.
Wes, you are nothing if not resourceful - not sure I've ever seen a Thetford cassette flushed with empty wine bottles and a coffee cup before 🤔🤣🤣. Rufus and doops definitely have the right idea - hot water bottle and the fireplace are definitely the best spots. Drone footage at the beginning looking very good as well 👍
Another good vlog ,glad your feeling so much better amy stay warm guys,we are having 80degree weather today in san antonio texas but i do miss the english weather
a few years ago we did a floating market at Berkhamsted and had a good day trading, but it snowed overnight & the canal froze! We were stuck for a while, the fuel boats couldn't even get through as the locks were covered in ice & it was much too slippery underfoot. During that time I had my car broken into there was nothing of value in the car, it was just a pain! Mind you there are lots of worse places to be stuck, it was a short walk into the town, and we were moored on the edge of Waitrose car park!
Was eating my lunch while watching , so found the loo scenes interesting haha. We have been there and doen the same thing, its not something you have to think about on dry land of course. Sorry you were so unwell while it was so cold Amy. Spring just around the corner now. Keep going guys. Your both so upbeat no matter what life throws your way.
Another hello from Canada! Glad you’re out and on the move again, and that you’re feeling better, Amy! What is the card game that you were playing in the pub?! I’m intrigued!
This reminds me of the Franklin expedition in 1847 (?), only, for those poor souls and the pets/ animals that were on board, things sadly didn't come to a happy ending. They really had it rough. Feel better soon! ❤
I'm normally the kind of person that says no to meds when I'm feeling ill, but for a cold or flu you gotta give lemsimp cold and flu capsules a go, i woke up Friday feeling like a cold was coming on, took them and again Saturday, was fine Sunday
i have covid at the moment guys and i have been so so ill with it. and it happened so fast too. at 11am on thursday morning i felt a weird feeling in my throat then started to feel cold. i thought the heating was off but it was on... by half 11 i was shivering all over and by 12 my entire boddy hurt including my skin.... i carried on the cleaning i had started and folded the massive laundry mountain and then by 5 i was in bed. i stayed in bed for 3 days only getting up to eat shower and use the toilet. i am finally feeling a little better now on day 7 😢
Can I just ask. How does the CRT actually know of you have moved on every 2 weeks? Do you have to inform them of your location every time you move, or do the employ someone as a canal traffic warden? 😂
they do actually have wardens 😅 they’re called spotters and they go up and down the towpath and log the boats in their area. They usually cycle the route 😊
Aww, Rufus & Dupes are just adorable ❤️
They say hello and thank you! 🐕🐰

Wow the fuel boats do double duty as icebreaker also. 😊

Aww - cosy times!! I love Rufus's jumper 🥰🥰🥰

How you havent got a composting loo I dont know , its the best investment I ever made on my boat.
It's March now, so hopefully no more ice expeditions.😂
Spring is in the air,but still very cold. 💚
Another hello from Canada! Glad you’re out and on the move again, and that you’re feeling better, Amy! What is the card game that you were playing in the pub?! I’m intrigued!
I'd soon be runnin-apoo bizz on canals. So many cassettes to empty🚉💩
This reminds me of the Franklin expedition in 1847 (?), only, for those poor souls and the pets/ animals that were on board, things sadly didn't come to a happy ending. They really had it rough.

Thank you for watching 😊
At least spring is on the way!
Safe travels that’s thick ice wow
couldn't believe it! thank you for watching! 😊
You're soo funny I.e the canal has defrosted....you mean thawed 😅 Grace from Belfast x
My biggest worry for you was, were you near a chippy. I can't imagine you surviving 7 days without chips.
OMG I couldn't with the cassettes, I think it's time to just go composting toilet lol
Right off the bat, I saw that sea gull nearly misses the drone. That would have sucked.
I'm normally the kind of person that says no to meds when I'm feeling ill, but for a cold or flu you gotta give lemsimp cold and flu capsules a go, i woke up Friday feeling like a cold was coming on, took them and again Saturday, was fine Sunday
Your gorgeous mother made the most beautiful ladies! What a sunning family! 😍

Well done getting stuck lol
Hello 👋 from John E.May from USA 🇺🇸
???OK, when you’re continuous cruisers, what does that mean as far as how far do you have to go each time you move???
Glad you are out of the ice! Enjoy your videos guys! Just wondering if you are an NC State alum? My brother taught there.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hope you get a staff discount from the fuel boat now
💜💙💚
What is the card game please?
What does it cost to live on a boat
😅😂

😂brilliant, thank you. ❤
Why can't the flue boat do bread and milk
Survived? Ffs 😂😂
