    The best part is Passan reacting to Bowden’s ridiculous claim that we have to trade one of our starting pitchers. NO WE DON’T JIM! They aren’t trading from their best position! 🤦🏼‍♂️

    The farm system should be the first go to for relief help. Second, look at the current free agents out there. Mark Melancon and Collin McHugh are still free agents. There is also Trevor Bauer who is also a free agent. Third, as last resort, a trade could be made with the White Sox (Jordan Leasure) or Marlins (Declan Cronin). Great stop gap for temporary stints.

    I'm hoping that someone is going to really like Michael Arroyo. He is unfortunately just a step behind that group of very young infielders being Young, Emerson, Peete, and Celesten. I feel like he's going to have a hard time climbing the ladder in our organization but he's a strong prospect that could absolutely be a top 5 guy for someone else. The dream would be someone packaging some legit mlb talent for Arroyo and Hancock.

    The only prospects I think should be untouchable for the Mariners are Young, Emerson, and Montes. Do whatever needs to be done with the rest of them to win a World Series.

    I like Jeff Passan a lot but he needs to seriously take a history lesson on the infamous list of trades the mariners have made over the decades of our prospects that have gone on to do amazing things for other teams. One of the reasons the Orioles are looking down a potential dynasty is because they kept their prospects.

    The sad reality is that pretty much anyone the M's acquire will underperform with the team. I don't know why I just know it is how it has happened.

    Auuuuggghhhhhh! I'd rather keep Evans and trade a bat. There just isn't enough pitching depth, past Hancock and that is MLB ready, to give up such a promising rotation piece right now. I'm also not super sold on Alonso, at least at the price he would probably command. I also don't think he is decidedly better at the plate than France. More power, sure, but Salk needs to take a gander at those two player's Statcast data on Baseball Savant. France's expected numbers in most categories far outshine Alonso's. He even has the better sprint speed if you can believe that! Alonso is in the 0 percentile for speed! And the speculative trade of Hancock and France for Alonso is a big loss in overall value. Hancock has shown enough to deduce that he could be a fourth or fifth starter in a decent rotation. And he has 5 (maybe 6?) years of control remaining. That is valuable. Certainly more than $10M for a half (or less) year of an immobile, one dimensional slugger whose agent is Scott Boras...so you can kiss an in season extension goodbye.

      We have way too many strikeout or home run guys in this lineup. We do not need another in Alonso. Plus, he will be a free agent after this year and there’s no way he would re-sign here. Nor would the Mariners attempt to sign him.

      Since Alonso would also just be a rental, I'd certainly like to believe they wouldn't consider Logan Evans in a trade to acquire him.

      @@davidpankey23 To be fair, it didn’t seem like Huard was suggesting Evans as part of a trade for Alonso, specifically. He kept saying a package built around Evans for a substantial return.

    Move Ty France to DH, get a first baseman with decent hitting and better defense. Stop using the DH spot as a throw away position.

      The DH spot hasn’t been a throwaway position this season, Mitch Garver is the full-time DH

      @tjtribble9932 and garver is getting into the swing of things. His bat is improving. He's used to catching more and is notoriously difficult to have the mindset of being a pure DH

    No way would I trade any one of our top 5 prospects for a couple months of Pete Alonso who is barely batting over 200. We got lucky with the Luis Castillo trade. At the time a lot of people thought it was an over pay. Noelvi was looking like our future third basemen and Arroyo was looking like a star in Modesto. Never would have been able to predict Marte would have been busted for PEDs and Arroyo would come down with a season ending injury. The reason the Oriols are so good now is they kept their prospects. Also there is no guarantee any hitters we bring in will be able to hit in T Mobile Park. The Mariners have too many wholes to sacrifice the future. The bullpen is also a mess other than Munos.

    How can he say the Mariners have the BEST developmental hitting prospects in MLB????? The Ms have NOT developed a single hitting prospect in 30+ years that had a B+ or better EYE. Every single hitter for 30 years developed by the Ms can come to the plate and WALK 85+ times in a single season.....name just one guys!!!! The Ms suck at developing hitters that have an EYE

    • @tjtribble.
      @tjtribble. 4 місяці тому +2

      Julio Rodriguez was developed by the Mariners, so it’s not like they’ve never succeeded, and the eye is only one part of hitting.
      But none of that matters for this conversation because the Mariners have never had this many talented hitting prospects performing as well as they are in the history of the organization. We’re talking about the prospects we have NOW, not the prospects we had before.

      Shin Soo Choo in 2013 walked over 100 times and was a prospect in the mariners system and made his major league debut with the mariners. Unfortunately they traded him. Jose Cruz Jr 2003. Also developed by Mariners and traded. The mariners have an infamous history of trading away players that have gone on to do amazing things for other teams.
