I love how most of the comments are about how people saw this movie when they were in Year 8 because I thought I was the only one lol. I saw it in both the theatres & in class & to this day, it's one of my favourite horror films.
movie looks completely boring, i see no visual effects, nothing interesting to watch, looks like a very slow boring movie with not much happening in it
@@CriticalFangirl Trailers usually show some highlights visual effects and exciting parts, this trailer was pretty slow, which made me think the movie would be even slower.
Best thing about this movie is that it's got a real sense of foreboding and menace about it, it's pretty creepy. None of those stupid jump scares, everything feels earned. Great performances! Perfect for the spooky season.
Why do you use the word "literally" here-completely superfluous. People seem to think literally means "truly". They might be talking ABOUT how they saw the film but they were not talking how they saw it. WTF is an abbreviated expletive, which for some reason you chose to put in upper case letters. What school are you talking about? You forgot the question mark as well. Making so many mistakes in a short sentence is a negative achievement in its own right. What was wrong with your school?
When I first watched this it was rated for an audiences of 12 years and older. Later the rating was corrected, but I remember going into the cinema with the expectation of watching a mysterious and little bit spooky movie, like maybe Tim Burton's films. But it was much worse! I think what makes this movie really scary is that it's so quiet. There's no excessive blood or gore, but it's just so quiet, it made me so nervous and scared. (It's still one of my favourites)
One of the best looking ghost tale movies-- the atmosphere, the mansion, those props and sets. Very effective in generating a chilling and unsettling mood. Then you have the actual frights in the movie itself, with a few quick jump scares (I guess we need those in _every_ scary flick that comes along, apparently). All in all it's an effective fright night at the movies with good, old fashioned gothic flavor. I recently saw the 1989 version and can frankly say that I prefer the 2012 revamp. It's just more spooky for me. But I did prefer the ending of the older one. Keeping water as the connecting element worked better there.
I went to see this in theatres and I loved it. Only the first five minutes or so I could still see him as Harry Potter, and then that faded out and I got to see him as a brand new character, and now I make it my mission to berate people on the internet who refuse to see past Harry Potter
I remember my sisters gossiping about watching a horror movie, and me trying to be the bravest 8 year old in the world said I wanted to watch with them, they said ok but warned me that it was scary, I told them I could handle it, well this is the movie they played and even though I kept my eyes closed for 90% of the film I was still traumatised for a year
At last, a great scary movie which will make you fear to be alone in the dark! This music and this trailer capture the vibe so perfectly! The other one spoils too much to my taste. Without any doubt, my favorite scary movie of all times!
Don't watch it if you don't like this sort of film! It has warnings that it is a horror and some people withstand that better. And if you watched it in school, surely the teacher asked you first before watching any? We watched a few trailers in school and my teacher always checked whether we wanted to watch or not!
I remember watching this in the cinema with my family, it was 12A and I was about 9/10 at the time but my parents brought me along because they thought, ‘oh! Daniel Radcliffe, it can’t be that bad’ I think I cried, everyone in the cinema was so scared too 🤣

My older brother was taking care of me and my younger sister. them two were upstairs playing games i was so disturbed I stopped when she threw up blood and changed to Octonauts because I wanted to watch something nice, they came down and wondered why i looked so disturbed watching Octonauts
Watched this as a kid and LOVED IT, but it spooked me so bad! I just finished reading the book all these years later, and I'm keen to watch it again :)

we watched this in school and nobody had watched it, so no one knew daniel radcliffe was in this. as we were watching it, I just suddenly shouted "THATS DANIEL RADCLIFFE!" and every one just turned and starred at me. it was very embarrassing but I was very proud that I identified my handsome husband. 😂
Hey, it happens! When I saw The Half-Blood Prince, it was obvious that ONE person in the audience of 300 hadn't read the book -- everyone laughed repeatedly at Ron's antics during the love potion fiasco, but only ONE person burst out laughing when Ron collapsed after drinking the poison. She was probably mortally embarrassed... 😺💕🐾
The trailer was more effective than the movie itself. When I found the movie itself littered with jumpscares, I found it was cheaper than what it promised. Still, the trailer is one of the best I've seen, particularly the opening before the toys begin to move on their own.
