Thanks so much, this is my favorite song by them. "See you 'round the bend, my sober sorry friend" goes way too hard imo as (one of) but the biggest id say climax of the song. Also ever since I first heard that unique drum outro, it just settled it for me, so good. Keep it up dude thanks again, I know these maybe dont get all the views, but has our loyal hearts
Besides the fact that this song is an absolute masterpiece, it has a piece at the very end, when the very development of the melody and the buildup of tension and drama is done on some kind of a supreme level. 8:19 "Lay here Maybe the damage has been done As we float away like embers Beneath us, the fire, still, it burns And I don't, I don't know why Question who we are and then we die I guess, I'll see you when it ends I'll see you 'round the bend My sober sorry friend" And on the phrase "My sober sorry friend" - I am brought to tears almost every time. The whole album is not only a quintessence of everything I love - TOOL, Porcupine tree, Opeth, Riverside, Pink Floyd, Periphery, Animals As Leader - it's a new way of looking at how music should be made. It's amazing that the guys also love all the bands listed above and THIS is heard on the album, but at the same time there is no borrowing and repeating. Great job. I've been listening to this album almost every day for the last 2 years, which have been very challenging for me. And Karnivool saves me.
I think this song needs the context of the full album to have it make sense. It’s is the final song on the album and closes the album perfectly. It also reuses the riff from Change Part 1 from the previous album and I think was made to completely surprise the listener. It is a masterpiece. The entire album is a masterpiece and easily sits among the great prog rock albums of all time. Definitely an Aussie classic.
15 years on and this song and band are still my benchmark for modern rock/prog
My favorite Karnivool song.
Yet to hear a band that has this kind of impact on me.

I guess, I'll see you when it ends
I'll see you 'round the bend

You should watch the live version at the Heath Ledger Theatre, recorded over covid as a virtual concert. Very cool
best song ever. that climax after the sample is so sublime, piling dynamics and emotion like no other.
This song is just an absolute masterpiece
Great to see you hook onto the bass line at 8:41
