Bryan...your music has saved my life. Be of great cheer bub, you have no idea how much me and my sister who both have mental disorders, have found hope and peace ion your music. Faith is kinda like strong only when we hear your strollion on the water. We were a Country Gospel Evangilistic family that lived in a bus most of our lives. I get it really. I lost my Mom this yuear too. She was our pillar. There are seven of us kids and we took it hard. We lost Dad at 58 years old which we just didnt understand. We are praying for your wife. I as well have gone through a couple years really bad health, lose of weight and hard hard times. Bless you! I really with my whole soul mean that

I am so very sorry for your loss... I can only imagine how hard it would be to lose my best friend. I don't ever want to feel that, but may some day.
My hubby and I have been Bryan Duncan listeners since probably the early 80's. We have been to a couple concerts and a coffee shop sing. So much, we have always loved his music because he really lets the music speak through him. He's not into looking a certain way on stage, singing exactly like others, but the music controls how he acts, sings, squeals and screams...haha... I still listen and always will...We love your message of Christ.. Keep on keepin' on Bryan.

Bryan, I don't know if you will ever see this comment, but I wanted to thank you for this very honest account of your faith through suffering. I can relate to much of what you've shared here. Despite what some people think, faith in Christ is not an easy road, but I have found it to be so much better than any of the alternatives that I've encountered. I was not raised as a Christian, and I struggled for many years before giving my life to Christ. I was born with the physical disability of Cerebral Palsy, and I endured terrible abuse from my childhood through my young adulthood. God brought me to faith in Christ in college, and to say the least, it hasn't always been an easy road since then, but I would definitely rather live with, and in, Christ, than without Him. With no hyperbole, He has literally kept me sane. Nearing the age of 50, I am very happy to be alive, even as more of my friends are currently deceased than here with me. The pain of those losses is real, and I can't deny that. Sin and evil are real, and I don't have all of the answers to all of life's mysteries. Still, I would rather suffer as a Christian, and have joy in Him, than to live as a non-Christian. I've been there on both counts! Christ knows our deepest pains, and He suffered unimaginable pain on the Cross for us. When we suffer, He is with us, even though He doesn't always intervene to stop the particular pain at that time. This is not just esoteric theology to me, but it's a truth that gets me through each day and night, as a person with Cerebral Palsy and memories of traumatic abuse too. In the Incarnation, God came, in flesh, into this fallen world, to die for our sins, and rise again, when He *could have* chosen to leave us all to our fates (not that He would have, of course, because He is love!), and that fact still blows my mind to this day! Bryan, thank you for your testimony here, and for your music, which has ministered to me so much through the years, and it still does today. I'm a fan of your work in the Sweet Comfort Band and your solo music too. You have truly helped me in my faith, and I am grateful. God bless you, brother!

I had some similar struggles to Bryan recently. My only child suddenly passed away when he turned 4, then I got sick and couldn't get out of bed for months from Lyme disease that came back after moving into a moldy house...my narcissistic father made fun of me and said I wasn't really that sick, and that I was insane, while he laughed at my son's funeral yet claims to be a Christian...he turned all my siblings against me and I have no friends left. I know God allowed this for many good reasons and like Bryan said it brings us closer to Him. That is the only positive I see on this difficult path.

I've felt that pain and those questions after losing my dearly beloved mom to cancer 3 & 1/2 years ago even though I received Jesus as my Savior when I was 4. It brings us to a fork in the road; right or left, recovery or misery, positivity or negativity, life or death. May He guide us all to the life He would have us to live and ultimately inherit. Thank you Bryan, it helps to know that we are neither alone in this life nor unique in this battle.

I appreciated your true and honest words. Praying for you and your wife. Sad to know you are both suffering, as I have loved your music, musicianship, and been blessed countless times by your words, your bluesy voice. Have been blessed to see you in person a few times- from the small park stage in Redlands to the big concerts, then back to you and a keyboard. Always a blessing, and your songs still comfort and remind me of the Truth of God's love for me. Thanks so much for all these gifts you have given us! I agree with you- nothing plants the seeds of compassion deeper than the plow of pain and suffering. We have had a similar journey with my husband. Different symptoms, same fears, and no answers from all the specialists. His 76yo body took quite a thrashing while he spent his career as a firefighter- maybe this is just that. However when your partner keeps passing out, or feels so weak he tells you goodbye, well, there it is- some fear, some dread, heaps of anxiety. We just keep believing and know that God is in control. It does not make the path easier, but "whom have I but You". Bless you and yours.

Bryan Duncan is a top ten from the Jesus Movement. I herd his music in the early 80 from the Maranatha Six album.... and then some. It’s a blessing that darkness never took him, he stayed in Him. I am sure he would have become a big “star” getting millions of $$, he was that good... but he decided to follow the Way. May God of Heavens be with him and his family. Great interview.

Dear Brian I am so sorry to hear of all that you've had to go through within the last year. I got saved in the early eighties and you were my favorite:-) I've seen you in concert in North Carolina when I live there and then I saw you at the cup of joy in Green Bay Wisconsin what a thrill! I hope your wife is doing better and I hope that they found out what was wrong with her you didn't mention that part so I hope she is fine. I've been safe for over 30 years now and for the last 13 years I have suffered a lot because of chronic insomnia I lost the ability to fall asleep naturally and boy has it really tested my faith but like you said it really showed me how shallow my faith was and now at age 58 my walk is getting deeper and more meaningful so I understood exactly but you were saying. I wish you the best and I'll be keeping you in my prayers!

I am making a "Peace with Jesus" playlist- I had to put some amazing Brian Duncan worship on it which led me here. Thank you for sharing this Mr. Duncan, I recieved a diagnosis earlier this year and I'm not that old (42) with a young child. This was so out of the blue and even though I knew it may be a possibility for months I pretty much kept it to myself until I received the final test results. I was hoping it was something else. But the Lord showed me He was right there with me. Even when I had to get a covid test so I could have a test done, the nurse was ministering to me saying that NOTHING can touch me that hasn't gone through His hands, my Fathers hands who loves me, first. This God who has given me the largest and deepest desires of my heart, and just sweet things just to bless me that He's given me, knew what I and my family would have to go through. I've been a big reader of "Hinds feet on High Places" since I was a girl and had been reading it through all last year. Her companions/helpers are Sorrow and Suffering, but about halfway through the book they become her friends and she finds joy in them.
I've been going through a rough patch the last month (after hair loss) and dealing with other families health issues and have kind of been stuck. Fellowship truly helps (even in this medium). Thank you for sharing and being vulnerable. I'm sorry for the loss of your dear friends and will pray for your wife. Thank you for your music and blessing us all with it. God bless!

That is what life is all about. So simple but so true and sooooooo hard to understand. I love what you shared from your wife, if you live by faith---- but we never expect it!!

Heard Bryan's song Love Takes Time on NZ's Star Radio and then went looking for who sang it. Then I went looking some more and found your interview with Brian, Leah. Many thanks for your honesty Brian and wisdom that you have found through your suffering - I could relate to it all and needed this just this morning. I could write so much more but hey - the Lord has encouraged me through you this morning. Cat and I are in stage 4 lockdown and have no family with us or so i thought until I found this Brian. God Bless and I hope and pray that things have improved for you and your wife.

SCB played a number of concerts at Gardena Valley Baptist Church along with many other Maranatha music artists back in the 70s. I was able to have a couple of conversations with him and he was always down to earth and kept it real instead of preaching or telling me what I should do. One really deep conversation after a concert at Hope Chapel in Hermosa Beach when I was struggling with my faith in the Lord. I appreciate this brother so much. Bless you Bryan and hang in there.

Wrote a song once titled "where the rubber meets the road". About that exact thing...crisis of faith, figuring out what we truly believe, and putting what we believe into action. Those times are truly life defining. Poor Cassie for having to tell you...

I’m a musician/producer. Love Bryan’s music, bought every CD over the years, superb voice and very talented, supported his (then) new project, then “met” him online, and I’ll be decent by just saying he was very unkind, and addressed me with a condescending internet term. I pray for him and hope that since then he has learned a little humility from within, cuz if God has to deliver it, it’s generally very painful. Heartfully sorry tragedy has found him - it finds us all. Practice what you preach … or don’t preach. Listen instead.

Your music I grew with since 83. My wonderful Wife passed 3 months after stating that she just wanted to make to 2020. I am functioning emotionally a bit better since going through the stage of acceptance. Her character to summarize her qualities is very much missed.

@@LeahTillock Thankyou for the kind words. My grief was so bad I thought of leaving the planet sooner. Then I realized that that would be me in control and not God. Resist the Devil and he will flee from you. The 2 more events came my way which damage my once strong athletic body. The doctor wants to do Kyphoplasy which is use cement in my lower back that was fractured in a car accident. Can you call driving into the car ahead of while slowing down but making no attempt to avoid it. Not suicidal anymore but get down and. Then awhile later I'm more than a conquer in Jesus Christ.

Its true Bryan what you said," you will come to a point where there is nothing beyond your control, that's where faith really starts." You have performed many great songs. The absolute favorite of mine is I'll Not Forget You. "God says," Learn to trust Me." We have to learn to trust in God. When we start to lose everything and give up hope like in the song, Abraham is marking time as years go by
Hiding his pain in laughter And every night he's counting stars that fill the sky So sure his dream has passed him by Doubting, his vision's not so clear
What did God say, what did I hear? Has heaven forgotten? Is God still there? Learn to trust me. I have myself recently experienced hardships but through it I have had a great peace. I remember how Jesus would go with his disciples through the storm and be asleep and they would yell and fear for their lives and he awoke saying to the storm PEACE BE STILL. I have learned to ask and trust the Holy Spirit for wisdom and guidance to hear His Still and Gentle voice. Come Holy Spirit I need you now. Come sweet spirit I pray. Yes Bryan your music has been with me for over 20 years inspiring and teaching me to "Learn to trust in God. Thank you so much
