Was lucky to wake up on morning on the train from Chennai to Thiruvananthapuram in 1992-93 to the sound of violin. Lalgudi the maestro was in the coach, doing his morning practice. We had a free concert.
Fantastic and amazing. We were lucky in Seattle to have Lalgudi Jayaraman as a visiting artist maybe 30-35 years ago. My wife and I had no idea about his fame or place in the Indian context at the time, but we knew with every note we were in the presence of someone very special. How nice to have this recording.
one of the Finest Concert of Violin Maestro Shri Lalgudi Jayaram Sir & Maestro Shri Karaikudi Mani Sir. Whenever I am listening to this concert getting new nuances from both Maestros. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I have always felt Andolika Ragam is like a delicate flower! Very gentle! Lalgudi Mama whether he plays ‘Raga Sudharasa’ Krithi or plays his own Varnam handles that delicateness of that Raga so well! 🙏🙏🙏
Superb concert. No words to express. The God of Music on the violin. I am fortunate I have lived during the same era and had the blessed opportunity to hear his "live" concerts on stage, both as soloist and as violin accompanist. Whenever I hear his music, I cannot help feeling that God consulted Lalgudi Jayaramanji first before creating the seven swaras and the thousands and thousands of ragas and krithis. It is rate unfortunate that he has passed on, and the subsequent oncoming generations will have to be satisfied with listening to good quality recordings such as these.
I love the music, especially from 35 minutes for an hour getting very close to some folk music from eastern states in Iran which talking with their music.
Absolutely brilliant concert, it has magical moments all around the place... ! Where do I even start? Incorporating his Tilang thillana line in the swaram at 2:15:40 or the sheer poignance of the revati thillana, I am lost for words...!
Thanks for uploading. Would be great if you could add the timelines to the pieces so that one could leap-frog to the particular piece, particularly since it's a long concert.
What a pity the great G Harishankar is barely audible during the Bahudari swarams even on those rare occasions when Sri Karaikudi Mani yielded to the ganjira vidwan. So sad.I do hope the upcoming young artistes will take a prominent leaf from the practices of Abhinavanandi Palghat Mani Iyer who routinely and graciously yielded to the upapakka vadyam even while the main artiste was singing or playing. That way he was showing us his supreme confidence all the while setting up the audiences in anxious anticipation of his thunderous return bringing goose bumps to the rasikas. So he lost nothing but gained the respect of his fans(along with the contentment of the poor upapakkavdyakara who got a prime time to show his talent) who came in roves just to listen to him to begin with. Such were geniuses made. It is not 'Natha jana paripala'; its 'Natajana paripalaya', a KV Srinivasa Iyengar kriti which was sung brilliantly by MDR!! This is only the second time I could get to listen to this lovely song. Fantastic. I must go back to listen to that genius MDR to get a good grasp of the sahitya. That'll be treat for the night. Can hardly wait. Narayanakurup Kanthikumar/Post Falls/Idaho/USA/ Feb 6, 2016 / 4:14 pm / Saturday.
lol! There have been so may mridanga vidwans who have sought to assail the ear with cacophony rather than playing subtly to enhance the laya aspect of the composition or the swarakalpana. It is not unoften that concerts descend to the level of ego matches between the artistes on the stage. The good news is such a trend is diminishing in recent times.
Great Maestros combination. Each & every time when I am hearing I am really motivated to do more & more practice. All these maestros have provided their best in this concert.

Lalgudiji is a real unparalleled master.
Wonderful concert! Thanks for uploading
The plaintiive notes of Revathi in the Tillana is a rare mood for tillanas. Beautifully rendered that explains why music has no language barriers.
