WHAT IS TALK HEATHEN?
Talk Heathen is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared toward long-form and on-going dialogue with theists & atheists about religion, theism, & secularism. Talk Heathen is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
Talk Heathen is filmed in front of a live studio audience every week at the Freethought Library of the Atheist Community of Austin.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop & support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing & friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of government-religion separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists & to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

Omg the Billy call was the best example of Katy’s ability to be chill as all get out with a triggered maniac Lmao.
about the only thing I can agree with Billy on is that religion is bullshit.
He’s the poster child for aggressively misunderstanding a scientific topic and stumbling in an attempt to present how bad he misunderstands it
Genevieve & Katy Montgomerie were absolutely fabulous and wonderfully beautiful! God bless them!
Billy has selective memory when he says Christians say "I don't know" about anything they don't understand, unless it's followed by "but God knows". And yes, nearly every Christian - fundamentalist or not - believes that humans are God's special creation. He's acting like a putz.
Kudos to her for that patience. I would have lost my s**t on the Billy call.
When i saw "5 best calls" i was worried it was gonna be 5 times people were reasonable and listened to the host's points and responded honestly. I was happy to find that the people compiling these are as much of a drama queen as me 😂
oh wow! what a reassuring post. I'm at the end of my data for the month, just began playing this, and was horrified to see no tracklist/timestamps/synopses....now I'm more confident that the last of my data won't be consumed in vain! Thanks!
I'm surprised that this isn't just a 2 hour "Rick from Canada" compilation
He's not always "Rick."
I love Roland the closet goblin with all my heart - that being said, I would totally fall for the attic gnomes and worship them too. I really love how Forrest's brain works.
I imagine Roland frolicking with Lisa the rainbow giraffe!
And if kind people gave you a blanket in the name of Roland the closet goblin, then you would believe.
@@MsArtemis64 Leaf be upon you.
Forrest is literally a genius!
Haven't they taught you that closet gnomes evolved from migrating attic gnomes?
Today I learned that it's far more probable that some number of gumballs in a jar is an odd number. Thanks, Xeno!
Ummmmmmm he's a math nerd, so yeah. 😆 🤣
Billy's tantrum was funny AF
That man is bonkers.
@@zacharyberridge7239 Indeed
Love it… strawman of confusion is my new Prog Rock band name.
"Billy" need to be watched. He's a frequent caller to these shows and is always an aggitated mouth breather. Someone who sounds as though he's on the verge of attacking people in the streets over disbelief in his god.
I just watched a video about a lacrosse player who murdered his girlfriend. His mannerisms were very similar to Billy.
... YIPES!
I said it on the original clip and I'll say it again. Nicholas is projecting hard enough to have an IMAX rating.
James Cameron refused Nicholas' offer, IMAX or no IMAX
@@ingoatwetrust8086 Yule Krampus! I think a child starving every 10 seconds is proof there is no God!
Note: This is a reply to a now deleted comment from Tom
@Tom Bergere
that's the conclusion you come to? I think a child starving every 10 seconds is evidence for a child starving every 10 seconds. It probably also supports that some children dont get enough to eat.
'If there is a god, I shut be afraid of him'. shouldn't he need to be "all loving"?
Nicholas says he's not afraid of death. As an atheist I, on the other hand, do not have to lie to myself. We're all going to die, but we don't all have to lie to ourselves.
Mr Canada "Let me give you a Bible lesson...Google it"
He's funny af.
Billy should be a regular guest when he is out of the mental hospital....I was laughing so hard along with the ladies.
"Don't be so grumpy Billy" amazing 😂
Billy was so very emotional, I think he should calm down. And smile more.
It was the funniest clip I have ever seen before in my entire life! I was crying it was sooo funny!
@@drivinsouth651 same i was crying, and laughing with the hosts
You two lovelies confuse me too, but all pretty ladies do that to me. Perhaps that was Billy's problem.
BILLY: *makes a claim*
HOSTS: *refutes claim*
BILLY: “YOURE STRAWMANNING ME!!!!!!”
The ladies handled Billy beautifully. Bravo!
I was waiting to hear "Billy..take out the trash!" "Mom, not now, I'm on the youtube show!"
@@MsArtemis64 oh you know he definitely has an alpha male podcast
@@MsArtemis64 - LOL!!!
He really did have some anti evolution videos previously. Professor Stick covered them
@@Canthavemybones I thought he sounded like Jeremy from the Quartering
Lol gotta love when Billy calls in to embarrass himself
He has lost his poo
Billy is such a charmer.
He can really woo the ladies.
Nicholas: " If God exists, i am scared enough to submit to him completely."
Also Nicholas: "Believing when you have sufficient evidence is cowardice.."
😂😂😂😂
Fundamentals of religion. Exploit fear of things we don't know and threaten with repercussion when looking for answers.
@@MrCanis4 Precisely. Which is why religion heavily targets impressionable apes.
Well, Nicolas thinks there is such a thing as demonic children. He's just an arrogant, dishonest moronic christian.
Xeno the maths nerd says the chances of there being an odd number of gumballs in a jar is infinitely higher than there being an even number. He then runs away without explanation.
Xeno is awful. Imagine having that arrogant know-it-all in your family. He must be the joy of every family gathering.
I helped an ex cop and a Christian not because of God but humanity. He was older and more broken so I emphasize with him. Help who you can when you can.
"I emphasize with him" is a nonsense statement.
Billy is a special little boy and his straw man friend.
I find it funny Nicolas called waiting until you have evidence to believe in a god being cowardice when his entire argument "if there is a god I should be afraid of him" is exactly that, cowardice.
Roland the Closet Goblin, Subway sandwiches be upon Him.
Xeno (laying on the mat in a daze, mumbling): "I'm not here to win but I totally whupped your ass."
Or as he likes to say: "checkmate!"
Yup, and of course you gotta love the start of him being a theist as "well I was smoking a fat bowl" and pretty much if you're high, yeah you might have good ideas but you may want to further analyze those ideas after you are sober again before jumping head first down the hole.
@@shanewilson7994 Especially when it's the cookie cutter idea of "maaaan, the universe is like... God, man! Checkmate!" His episthemological method is literally in his grinder.
@@Gabrieliuka He gives a bad name to those of us who can function while stoned.
How did losing at the crap game or whatever make Nicholas instantly homeless?
And, when he got that miracle sleeping bag 45 seconds later...he was still just as homeless.
I call shenanigans.
@@brucebaker810 I agree. Nicolas seemed to be trying to follow a script and just wanted to preach. He got very emotional when the hosts didn't just follow along and gave some gentle push-back. Also, that "I don't have the convenience of disbelief" line struck me as a sounding like a pre-planned statement to try and sound profound.
Edit: Another thing I found very suspicious is that Nathan claims he gambled away his life "to Satan" when he was only six years old?! He also claimed to have met "demonically influenced children" back then? If he's not just "lying for Jesus" then he needs psychiatric intervention.
He described being 6 like he was a refuge crawling out of hell with demons on his tail. At first I thought he said 16, a little more reasonable that he might have been neck deep in a situation with abuse, addiction, codependence, alcohol induced psychosis... No, six, dealing with "demonic children"? Homeless for 45 seconds? It sounds like his family got evicted or some similar situation, which is a scary and uncertain time... but I struggle to see how a six year old achieved religious catharisis on a road to Golgotha because someone showed a relative small gesture of kindness to a scared 6 year old?
Matt Dillahunty isn’t a narcissist he’s just tired of dealing with dishonest people. So much so that he doesn’t have any hair left.
Matt sacrificed his hair for all of us
Ramen
Church of the follically challenged, amen 🙏 😂
Billy is my favorite 🤣
If you cannot do your job properly you need to find a new job. He abuses people. There is no excuse for that. He invites people to do this knowing what he will do.
The Billy from Texas call absolutely SENT me that was HILARIOUS 😂
Science didn’t say the earth was flat. The Church said it was flat.
I feel worse now for Nicholas than I did after the original call
yup
Me too! Damn!! Re watching it I can’t believe they gave him that long.
Nicholas: faith makes my life better.
Also Nicholas: if god is real I'm terrified of him.
He's a very confused person.
Right!
I am so happy xeno hasn’t called in recently. I give the host a lot of credit for actually getting a lot of good points out through that ridiculousness
OMG I had forgotten how hilarious the Katy/Genevieve/Billy call was 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The utter destruction of Billy was a joy to behold. Bravo ladies, bravo.
Yes Billy's takedown was awesome.
Kenneth is awesome. Hope he drops by again some day!
7 day week guy!
7 Day Week Guy!
7 Day week guy!
Theres no contradictions in the bible=thou shall not kill ! (Unless god tells you to do so...)
Billy might want to get his anger issues ironed out.
Kenneth & Forrest are the new Matt & Tracy perfect combo. Kenneth quickly shuts down nonsense before it gets too far & Forrest brings a level of insight and coherence that has been lacking. My new favorite duo !
Yes! Billy was funny as hell, but the best part was, he didn't even get how easy he made it for the hosts to rile him up! He needs to chill or he's going to have a coronary. Great job Genevieve and Katy. One of the most entertaining segments I've seen. Hope you both plan to host again.
That last call with Billy kills me every time I hear it, it really was one of the best
My absolute favorite. It's so funny to hear Billy getting angrier every second. He's just pathetic lol . A pathetic liar.
The Billy call was my favorite. I love our gorgeous stunning genius hosts, needed that laugh so badly.
1.53 Katy is a star, what a WIN ! Legendary ladies.
I’m pretty sure Katy and Genevieve qualify for sainthood with that last call. I mean…WOW. If Billy wasn’t just a troll I really hope he took/takes the time to reflect and deal with his anger issues in a healthy way.
Oh-one more thing: Saying boot camp is an example of suffering and that we need to endure to make us strong makes me question what he meant by ‘suffering’. What about people born into privilege who never have to work a day in their life and want for nothing? Are they not as strong as someone who has to constantly struggle?
I disagree. He can best help the world by calling in, at least once a month, so we get the chance to see if he'll "evolve" (yes that was a dig at him😁) or remain as entertaining.
Katy and Genevieve are GOLD. I LOVE their vibe, had me screaming lmaoooooo
Wow, these ladies are Gods and they just taught Billy many valuable lessons, lol! Hilarious!
Well, he doesn't seem the learning type...
@@robertmiller9735 First, Billy has no own position, he has an inventory of Creationist/Evolution-denier gotcha pseudo-questions he has been told are unanswerable killer arguments.
As for all apologetics, be it creationism or flat earth, they are told questioning/denying the other position proves that your position is RIGHT - not need to even know what your position actually is. Ask them about their morals dictated from God or the meaning of life revealed by him, and you will only get wishy-washy.
And when "the ladies try to steelman hs confuse rambling, he claims they are strawmanning him and accuses them of droning on and on.
For me that is becoming clearer and clearer: There is no need to be precise. All that is relevant is that you are RIGHT. Then all can believe whatever they want. And an inherent law is that amongst each other you do not speak about details what you think, you only confirm each other that you are right.
For me that is my definition of cult.
@@robertmiller9735 Obviously, lol!
@@drivinsouth651 I wonder sometimes if that bitterly aggressive approach is intentional. I know I, for one, would not be able to handle someone like that like they did.
@@feedingravens Yes, except to add that mostly they're engaging the enemy-those in rebellion against the social order-in combat. The words are ammunition, they don't need to be true or consistent.
Billy sounded like he was on something. He gave me contact anger.
"You keep strawmaning me!"
"You haven't even made an argument, billy!"
In Roland We Trust
Xeno might be the most arrogantly wrong person I've ever heard. He is SO convinced he is a supergenius and cannot HELP but insult the hosts and everyone when we point out that A: he's wrong, B: his arguments are completely flawed, and C: he's not as smart as he thinks he is.
Kenneth: “you need to have evidence to believe in something”
Nicholas: “COWARDICE, I SAY”
Frickin Catholics
Xeno: "Matt is a narcissist. But I KNOW MATH. DO YOU KNOW MATH? I don't think you do. I'm a math nerd. You just don't understand what I'm saying. Listen to me, OMG, you won't let me speak (despite the fact that I'm seemingly deliberately leaving open points in my speech like I don't have anything to say and repeating myself over and over again.)"
Me, me me. I, I, I. Kinda sounds like....
*whisper* [A Narcissist]
Spoiler, I'm not a doctor, either.
on episode 29 of spektic generation. He gets called out on his BS and realizes he has to dip out cuz his argument gets knocked out and he nowhere else to go.
The dude is a damn platonist, if that says anything.
Ive never met one who isn't full of themselves and full of crap at the same time.
That was gorgeous. Thank you to all the hosts and to whomever it was who edited this compilation. I might listen to it all again now. Absolute pure gold!
Forrest is hands down the best!! Thank the universe for this awesome person!!!😊
You so often hear Ocham’s Razor being mentioned only to have the exact opposite in the subsequent examples.
First caller “I was freezing on the streets and a kind person gave me a sleeping bag” ok, fair enough but then…”because of God’s goodness” talk about “multiplying entities” although not ontologically, obviously
Billy is a real piece of work. 🤣
Billy can't be serious...at least I really hope this was some sort of joke.
I rather think he is a troll, but if it was meant as a joke, it was a really bad one.
All hail, Roland, the Closet Goblin!
Hail his clossetty Gobliness....
So grateful for these videos! Keep up the GREAT work 👊🏻👏🏻🏆
OMG this was exactly what I needed. I have been down and sick without much energy but Billy had my laughing so hard and I feel invigorated again!
On the same note, can we have Billy calling in once a month just for the lulz?
I loved when Kenneth said Abboot instead of about. I have said it that way ever since the movie Canadian Bacon...LOL!
Whoever made this video did great. All thsse were awesome conversations!
Excellent job girls. Billy is an entertaining example of many believers….thank u Billy 😂
Katy cracks me the eff up in that last call.
I have not had such a laugh is some time. Please watch the Billy caller, the last one. Hilarious! The two hosts handled this perfectly!🤣🤣😂😂
love Forrests big kid energy on every show! 😃
Poor Billy 😂…bless his heart 🤡🤣
Thanks to Genevieve and Katy for making the Universe "sunshine and lollipops"!!!
Omg billy was awesome! Plz call back. And the hosts responded wonderfully. Can we get billy as host.
Huge lesson in listening not waiting for your turn to talk in a conversation.
Pythagoras proposed a spherical earth in ~500BC. Within ~200 years, Aristarchus and Eratosthenes had actually measured the circumference/diameter of the Earth!
Billy has some serious anger issues. I will also go out on a limb and say that he seems to have a problem with women.
Im going to make images of roland the closet goblin and make him the center of my dnd campaign.
Xeno - we made lots of progress, no you didnt, you think it in your head, and its not real.
It's astounding that the whole Billy call isn't a bit 😋
I don't think you lost Xeno, I think one gumball fell out of the machine and evened things up.
Xeno's paradox: if i get you halfway there each time I run my mouth, I can never get to my goal.
32:00 he just quoted Hannah Montana and they didn’t even notice lmaoo
Billy is setting himself up as a fool. Don’t blame the hosts.
"I feel like the pressure of independent evidence was too much to bear". I spit up some beer when you said that jmike. It's much more true than funny though, so dunno why it makes me laugh. I think there's some german word for it.
Nicholas = Gibberish.
Truth is true 🙌🫶🙏
I would have told Billy that it's my show so I'm gonna talk as much as I want and if he has a problem that then he's free to leave anytime.
Billy sounds bipolar could probably use some anger management classes
As much as I love Roland the Closet Goblin, I have to say that the Norse gods are still my favourite go-to for counter arguments. It has enough parallels to highlight a caller's issues in reasoning, but does a better job than any other old religion or on-the-spot parody that I've heard of.
**It has an ancient book; The Edda (separated into the Poetic Edda and the Prose Edda)
**People died in belief of the Norse gods. The faithful would fight, knowing they would die, in the name of their gods; to honour and glorify them.
**Many of the Norse gods sacrifice themselves for the sake of protecting us, and the other realms.
**It has a creation story; wherein Odin and his brothers made humans and our planet, Midgard. He made us out of wood and blood, rather than the abrahamic god making us out of dust/clay and a breath of air
**In its creation story, the "world tree" Yggdrasil exists before the gods. It's a cosmic tree growing outwards, symbolising a naturalistic universe that is expanding
**In its creation story, the worlds hang like apples from the branches of the cosmic tree. This confirms ancient knowledge of a round earth, instead of a flat one. It also confirms that not only are there more planets than just ours, but ours isn't even necessarily the most important one.
**It has prophecies for things to come, as well as fulfilled prophecies, evidenced by the lack of giants on Midgard and the fact that the great serpent Jormungandr hasn't torn Midgard apart yet
**Loki is a deceiver and trickster, explaining why humans have so many religions that all have the same claims of miracles and divine sensations but are somehow exclusive to different religions. Loki is simply tricking us into fighting and arguing over which one of his lies we were convinced of
**All evidence that leads you to believe in a different religion is further proof of the powers of Loki's trickery
**Only the wisdom of Odin can allow you to see through Loki's lies. You have to sincerely believe in Odin for him to gift you with his wisdom
**Rainbows are the bridge that the gods use to travel between realms, and nobody has disproven that because nobody has reached the end of a rainbow
**Bonus points for the Edda not having any laws or rules we have to follow, as well as many different heavens to suit people's different needs, topped with the ability to travel between heavens and opt out into the eternal sleep of Niflheim if you decide that eternal afterlife isn't what you want
**Double bonus points for the gods acknowledging that they aren't perfect, and that better gods will replace them in generations to come; evidenced by Thor's son being stronger than Thor.
Praise Odin
It's really funny Xeno calling anyone a narcassist
Top host of the year: Forrest!!!
Remember, Xeno's epistemology is superior to yours because he's a **programmer**.
Is Nicholas trolling? He literally quoted Hannah Montana
I think the Billy from Texas clip is the best TH call of all time. Not surprised to see it here!
@Ironclad Alibi as my grandmother told me as a kid, Santa isn't real but that Jesus guy is.. somehow.
"Hey Google, what is the earliest evidence for a ball?"
"...a leather ball found in an Egyptian tomb in 2500 BCE."
Huh... So they knew what a ball was almost 2000 years before the Timothy quote.
It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it.”
- Albert Einstein 1954
The circular earth dude. They should have asked him if he's aware that flat earthers also believe that the earth is a circle. Also they could have challenged him on the biblical mention of the 4 corners of the earth.
Billy hits women. For sure.
Fundamentals of religion. Exploit fear of things we don't know and threaten with repercussion when looking for answers.
Billy was my favorite one of the year. Thanks for putting this compilation together.
@18:50 We have to really call out Forrest. He said he believes Roland exists one million percent. We all know you can't go past 100 percent. I have lost all faith in Forrest. But I still have faith in Roland.
Says caller Nicholas, "Truth is true because you know it's true ..."
Well, how ...um, almost interesting!
'run rabbit run...' Pink Floyd Breathe again, Dark side pf the Moon 🙂
Xeno makes me miss Kevin from NY... lol
Nicholas makes me want to put a screwdriver through my ears... couldn't finish that call again!
And that's just the first two! Wow.
I'm not convinced that that "Zeno" caller is a math nerd, programmer, or almost anything they claim
OMG, Nicholas from MO would not shut up long enough to listen. 16:44
Nicholas wants us to assume that "guy just handed me a sleeping bag," was a miracle level occurrence. But as they love to say keep it in context. He said he had just gambled away all his possessions. Weird mad max scenario but okay.
In that /all yer goods/ crap game, a person who just won a pot that included a sleeping bag might well 'toss the big loser a chip to get home'. A surplus item the other now suddenly needed.
