Seine River Cruise with AmaWaterways Review | Paris & Normandy

- Two weeks ago I was fortunate enough to board the AmaLyra in Paris and cruise along the Seine to Normandy. It’s a trip I’ve been wanting to do for years and was so excited to make it happen.
If you’ve ever wondered what river cruising is like, I’m here to show you how glamorous it is to sail with AmaWaterways. Along the way we’ll eat great food, be treated to world-class service, and see the most amazing sights.
France is such a gorgeous country and the Normandy area is no different. We’re going to explore the Medieval city of Rouen, see the D-Day landing beaches, and (my personal favorite) tour the stunning gardens of Monet in Giverny. And, you know me, there will be plenty of food and wine tastings!
So come with me as we explore Normandy and the Seine with AmaWaterways!

AmaWaterways cruise ships ply a number of rivers in Europe, including the Danube, Rhine, Seine, Douro, Moselle, Main, Garonne, and Rhône. Outside Europe, their ships cruise the Mekong and Chobe rivers.
At each port of call, there are guided excursions that are graded according to the difficulty level of the walking. The company also caters to bicyclists, golfers, and other active passengers. Starting in 2016, it offered "cruise and bike trips on the Rhine, Seine and Douro".
Cruises are full-board and include wine and beer with meals, as well as a cocktail hour. AmaWaterways is reportedly the only river cruise line to belong to the gourmet chain La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs.
Unusually for river cruises, there are hair salons on AmaWaterways ships, as well as spas, gyms, and libraries.
Why hasn’t this been seen by millions of people? This is excellent from every point of view. Well done.
We just did the tour on the AMAdante. It was phenomenal! We saw the Eiffel Tower lit up at night, toured Paris, headed north to Rouen and Normandy to see the D-Day beaches. We also did a three day extension to Saint Malo and took in Mount Saint Michel and finally back to Paris. The service was great. The food was perfect. Thank you, AMA!

I'm taking this cruise as wine cruise on nov 1 for 7 nights on amalyra. We were supposed to go on a river cruise on the duoro with Vantage Deluxe world travel but they went bankrupt and canceled all trips. We've taken 5 trips with them in 8 years and we're shocked at their closing. I wanted to do av river cruise anyway since we had the time off. I picked this one as my husband wanted to see Normandy. Thank you for this awesome look at what I am going to do in 80 days🎉🎉🎉🎉

Thanks Mark! In general, I always tip my server, the stateroom attendant, and the cruise director. You can search Ama's website for a guideline, or ask your travel agent!

Absolutely! There are even some offers just for singles. I think you'd have an amazing time.
So cool! Did you get to go to the Eiffel tower or just see it from a distance?
On the cruise you'll just see it from a distance. But you can always go on your own before or after the cruise!

Is wine inclued? I assume drinks are extra? What about flights? Thanks
Wine and beer are included at lunch, dinner and happy hour. Outside of that you'd need to pay for drinks. Flights are not included.

What time of year is best to go do you think? Thanks
It all depends on what's important too you! Warm weather? Lower crowds? You'll have a great time no matter when you go!
What about water levels? Is there a better month to go where water levels would be ok or is it a gamble? Thanks
It's really a gamble and depends on the weather that year and the river you're looking at. In general, there hasn't been an issue with water levels in 4 years.
