I don't like the art or the theme. But the company has an alternative for people like me. It's called Sea Change. It has the exact same rules, except written the way Tom would have liked, and not much theme, just pretty paintings of sea creatures.
I bought this at Gen Con two days ago with the upgraded set of cards. The guys at the booth sold me with their exuberance. It was Sunday at 2pm though so that might have been exhaustion.
Can't wait for my copy! I wanted something lighter and quicker to set up than Tournament at Camelot to play with my teenage boys. They didn't enjoy the ye olde english style art in TaC but liked the game play. Gorus Maximus will be a better fit for my family game nights as we all enjoy trick taking (and brothers always enjoy take that, mostly with each other).
Waiting for my kickstarter version to arrive. Comes with plastic cards and a sword for the preferred school. Really want to play it. The theme does not bother me at all but I can understated why someone would not like it.
@@wetwillyccma Same situation as you. It is getting a tad bit frustrating to see game producers go for the Con cash grabs (Tiny Epic did this at GenCon with Tiny Epic Zombies). I understand their goal is to make money but any company that does this gets 0 backing from me in the future. It isn't that I'm petty about getting it, I just think it is hard to trust a game producer who approaches their business in this manner.
@@miken6824 Gamelyn Games did approach their backers about the opportunity to sell at Gen Con and if the consensus was "No" they wouldn't sell at Gen Con. I find that a fair accommodation and respectful on their part.
I loooove Kwanchai's art, but the gore put me off backing the Kickstarter. Glad to hear the game is better than that, but I think it's still a pass for me.

Tom mentioned the challenges, it really is a brilliant touch. Surprises are guaranteed!

bought the collector edition in essen 2018 (October) , very strange that we can buy before backers got them. that a great game btw
@@giladdan2110 Yeah, kind of made me upset, but what can I do? Should have been to the backers first.

i hope backers said yes, of course they can sell. Because who cares.
Sounds like a simpler and less strategic version of Take The "A" Chord.
Why did you guys stop using the Reviews with Tom Vasel playlist? You haven't updated it with reviews since Stuffed Fables back in February!
Came because of the game name, enjoyed the review and interested in the gameplay. Not interested in the art theme though, just a little too much.
its not the gore that bothers me, its just that it seems quite a dull game.
I think Sticheln easily trumps this one.
Sticheln is GOAT.
nice..."trumps this one."
great game can't wait to get my kickstarter
The theme kills it for me.
😊👍
Brilliant game!
