Hi Tamar - secular Jewish girl here from NYC who just did her first Shabbat and made her first Challah this past Friday. It really is true... despite this horrific situation, we are all falling back in love with our heritage and rekindling our traditions. I know my ancestors are proud, my maternal grandparents were shomer shabbos and must be looking down and smiling. Have been connecting heavily with the Jewish community within my social group as well... I'm heavily connected with the Burning Man community and the Jews here within are so affected by the situation considering Nova and Burning Man are so similar. The Shabbos at Burning Man had over 2000 participants this year, and some of the Nova producers put up an installation that was an exact replica of Nova called "We Will Dance Again." The parties there went on 24/7 and it was very cathartic. We will not allow these terrorists to win - we DID dance again. Loving your content and loving the connection I am feeling to the Jewish community. Secular or Orthodox, I am suddenly so interested in the mitzvot despite still considering myself Atheist. Tradition is important. Connection to family is important. Thank you so much for sharing.

Dough
2 cups room temperature water
2 tablespoons dry yeast = 50 gram fresh yeast
1 tablespoon salt
1/2 cup sugar
drizzle honey (optional)
2 eggs
1/2 cup oil
1 kg of flour
Egg wash and decoration
2 egg yolks
Sesame seeds

I usually do per 1 cup of rice - around 1.5-1.75 cups of water. 🍵
So 2 cups of water would be about 1.33 cups of rice 👍

Praying that the Lord might speak to you through the Torah regarding the Messiah, who was proclaimed by the prophet Isaiah (chapter 53 is referring to Jesus). He came first for the Jews, and then for gentiles like me because He was rejected by His people. He came to die for our sins so that we would be forgiven and able to spend eternity with God in heaven. As a Jew who believes in God but not religious please do not say that we deserve this, sounds too much like the voices of antisemitism. PS: I was raised roman catholic and I was atheist for 15 years and since 2021 I started to study Torah and I'm in my path to convert to judaims since February 2024, I can tell: if an atheist questions another people's believes is absurd because they alrrady solved the problem! They decided freely not believe that one G-d exists so why they still pushing this questions? Maybe insecurity. In fct I letf atheism because I thought atheist were so mean with people who believe. If you decide not to believe, good, go for it, but dont bother others with a problem you alresdy solved for your life and path.
