Thanks Nathan, it really helpful to point that out. I am wandering whether we need to use this luminosity mode or when to use it the right way, to avoid such problems. Thank you so much.
If you're not using Luminosity mode for blending flambient then you're defeating the purpose of using flash. As I point out in my books, an important aspect of using flash is to make sure you dominate the white balance, thus getting correct colors. If you use "Normal" mode for blending, then you would defeat that purpose since ambient shots cannot guarantee correct white balance or colors. Thanks Joao. Since I only want ambient, the flashes must not fire. You can turn your flashes off, but I find it easier to do it with the hotshoe tx-trigger. I talk more about triggers in this video: ua-cam.com/video/E3Z5u-uyVec/v-deo.html

I'm constantly battling color casts from blending in ambient, so this was helpful. A bit off topic, but do your agents ever point out things like just the back of a chair sticking into frame, and cut off sliding and regular doors?
Hi DJ, that sounds like possibly another video, but it basically boils down to the law of large numbers: the more clients you get the more opinions and requests you'll get. It also depends on the client and the gig...designers, builders, etc. are very particular. Realtors on the other hand have different goals; i.e. provide something that sells something, just once...designers/builders/etc. have longer term needs. Yet even with realtors, once you introduce the law of large numbers, then there will inevitably be some who will request just about anything. With that in mind, I try to accommodate everyone, so when I can I make sure chairs are moved...it also makes the space look bigger, which is a big selling point...space sells. But doors...well, I'd have to see an example on that, but realtors tend to love to see it all, and then break it into pieces. I needed this video! I've experienced this issue a few times without realizing why or how to correct it. The right video at the right time.
Quick question: In this video you're overlaying the entire ambient layer (in luminosity mode) over the composite flash layer, but when you're editing these in real life you're brushing in only portions of the the ambient layer where needed, right?

Thanks for the great videos. How do you handle cases when the flash exposures have color cast? (reflecting from a yellow floor, for example)

@@NathanCoolPhoto I did, couldn't find. I remember seeing one of your videos that specifically talks about color reflecting from the floor but I can' find it. I'm talking only about color reflecting from the floor, when using flashes. Usually, simple white balance correction helps but sometimes the cast is not uniformed

I've noticed this for sure.. so if your composite flash layer is well exposed, will it normally retain enough colour ? I noticed you still put a fairly moderate bump over the flambient mix. Will see :) thanks.. ps.. luminosity blend saved my life!
As you may know from my books and other videos, the "bumps" (presets) are applied in the last step. RAW files, by nature, have low contrast, lack sharpness, etc. that, for all genres, need a "bump". It's part of the workflow I recommend, and outline in book #1 (and also #2) as well. How is the camera's shutter releasing when you go around the room with the secondary flashes (Yongnuo)? I have a Flashpoint AD600BM main flash and a couple of Yongnuo speedlites too attached to Flashpoint receivers. I have the Flashpoint R2 Pro C Transmitter attached to a Canon 6D. Any information would be appreciated.
