I like that it is small and compact. I think that everything is going the way of USB-C and eventually they will get smaller and smaller. My problem is that I need a KVM that supports 3x DP monitors and they aren't cheap. Looks like a great product and I am sure it will help you with your setup.
Thanks for the video! I would enjoy more kvm reviews as I have been searching for the perfect one for a while with no luck. I must have bought 6-8 cheap ones so far. Unfortunately this one seems to lack EDID emulation per the Amazon reviews. This feature helps to prevent the monitors disconnecting and reconnecting when you switch PCs. If you don't have this your open windows will be moving around to different monitors. This is needed for my setup, PC1 has 2 monitors and I want to switch to PC2 on only one monitor while leaving my open windows in place on PC1's second monitor. Hopefully that wasn't too confusing. Maybe anker can add this feature in future products.
I ended up returning mine. My dual monitors only supported HDMI so I tried using a DisplayPort to HDMI cable for one of the monitors and it didn’t work. If someone is able to get this working please let me know because I was really hoping this would work.
For specific scenarios this seems like a reasonable fit. I don't understand mixing the video connectors though. If you have 2 monitors they are normally the same so you would want 2x dp or 2x hdmi, and normally the same for your desktop PC output as your gpu likely has 2x the same connector. This just seems to mean you are likely to need to buy new cables. It would also make sense to have a switched USB port on the back so you don't have your webcam cable hanging out the front like that. I also feel the price is a little high for what it can do. I know it was sponsored, but I think those points would have made it a less biased review, especially as you didn't mention price or value for money at all.
I wouldnt mind it if you could do a long term review on this, ive used a number of kvms and they initially work and then you have these odd problems especially with usb devices - i would switch to abother comouter and boom the camera doesnt get switched over ... And often to get it to work again i need to pull the usb out and replug it. I've found this to be the case with all(5 that ive gone through) of the kvms.
I do think that the single USB-C input for PC 1 is limiting though. Some laptops are not able to handle more than one 4K outputs through a single USB-C port (bandwidth limited). For example my 2021 Dell XPS 15 laptop cannot do this. I currently have to use two different USB-C ports to use two monitors, meaning that the switch button on this KVM Switch would only be able to switch one of my monitors to the correct source. It does look like a nice little device. But for £250 RRP the limitation of that one USB-C port for PC 1 would make a it a no-go for a lot of people I think.
I totally get where you are coming from. Not every device will be a great fit for everyone. Thanks for watching and letting me know what you think about it :)
It would be great to know that this is a “the company sent me this for free” video right up front, instead of “thank you Ankar for sending me this” at the very end. Then I would read at the complaints about it on Amazon right away.
Literally at the very beginning of the video it says "This video is sponsored by Anker" Like... The first 5 seconds of the video have the required "this video is sponsored" text right on the screen.
Is it possible to use the laptop keyboard to control both the laptop and the PC? I really like my laptop keyboard besides it create more space for my desk
Do you have your audio interface/mic going into the KVM? I am trying the AV Access KVM, however, it isn't recognizing my USB Audio-Interface or Webcam :(
I've had my Insta360 webcam and FocusRite Scarlet Duo audio interface plugged into the KVM and had no issues. You might reach out and see if you can get some direct tech support from Anker.
I think, in that video, I had my Panasonic G7 (amzn.to/3Z7dBLg) plugged into a capture card on my PC. Lately, though, I've been using an Insta360 Link webcam (amzn.to/4gk9ulh) and it's great. **both of those links are Amazon affiliate links
Long gone are the days when I could get away with just a 2-port KVM, lol. Now that being said I have used Anker USB charging cables for my mobile devices for a LONG time.
@@DBTechYT I use an old 8 port Minicom 1U in my rack. It has little adapters that let you make the cable runs out of Cat5 FTP or STP cable and then plug the other end into the switch directly. I'd like to switch to something that did the same using TCP/IP but those solutions are way above my home hab cost center. lol.
Been using 4 port dual display KVM's for the past 4 or 5 years. Could not go back even if I wanted to. Dual 32 inch monitors. What I won't do is 3 monitors. Almost feels like whiplash when using 3 monitors.
@@DBTechYT Right. I'm just curious if there is any functional difference. Trying to decide between the two models. Like would I get faster USB throughput for my devices on the PC1 connection if I got the 553 model, given the dedicated DP/HDMI inputs on that side? I do notice that the USB-C input on the PC1 connection (553 model) is 5Gbps, so maybe it would not make a difference. Just curious if you know.
Thanks. I think "most people have moved to 4k 120" is a bit of an over-statement. I agree with the 4k, but I don't think "most people" are going for 120. Gamers, game devs, sure, but, again, I don't know about "most people" going for 4k 120.
@@DBTechYT This is exactly what I was looking for. I have a laptop and a desktop and wanted to use one keyboard and mouse and also with 2 displays. Thanks for the video 👍

if you plug a usb c hub on the front of the switch and in the usb c hub you plug a rj45, will you be able to get internet connection?
I live in Brazil and here is a bit complicated to buy this KVM, is there another option exactly like this one from Ugreen or Baseus?

Also, there is no mention of HDR passthrough either on their product page, which could also being limiting if your workflow requires it.
Can these support 2560x1440@120 or 144Hz on the HDMI port? The "AV Access" docks specify HDMI 4K60 or 1440@144.
I encourage you to go use the links in the video description to get more details on the product. That's why I put them there :)
Slick! Thanks for the video.
Glad you liked it!
i love that line "a chance to charge your laptop".... like plug it in and roll a d20 and if u get a nat 1 it charges lol

Is there a way to connect the focusrite audio interface as well, or can it be only used at one pc?
As long as you've got a USB port for it, it should be fine.
Almost exactly what I need...except I need 2xDisplayPort 1.4 instead of 1xDP & 1xHDMI.
While that has a niche, if you just want a KVM, look at the Greathtek 2 or 4 Port KVM Switch. I have the 4 port version and its a fantastic unit.
I actually have something similar to that hooked up to my TinyPilot setup

No
I don´t understand what the 2 cables on PC2 (hdmi+displayport) do!? YOu already connected PC2 with USB-C so you should not need anything else, right?
it's so you can connect a different PC to it and switch between them?
I mean something different: Wouldn´t it be enough to connect PC1 and PC2 each just with an USB-C cable to the Anker KVM Switch?
Can you have one monitor to one computer and the 2nd to the 2nd monitor or is it only two monitors at the same time?
You can only use once PC/Laptop at a time. Whatever device is currently active will use both monitors
How can I use USB-C Apple EarPods with both a Pixel 7 Pro phone and a Mac Mini? !

@@DBTechYT possible solutions? I will not sue you:)

I guess it ultimately depends on what your needs are and which one better serves those needs.

Nice review but 4k 60 is not worth it, most people have moved to 4k 120, it's using an old kvm chipset also.
