Running on 3s with a Hobbywing EZRun MAX10 Sensorless Brushless ESC/3652SL Motor Combo (5400kV) this thing should rip pretty good once we figure out pinion size. I rebuilt the Element RC Stealth X Gearbox with the zero over drive setup and on a 18t stock pinion with this motor setup its spicy, cracking wheelies spicy. Stay tuned as we build this thing and see if it even works.I picked up a Element Enduro Gatekeeper rtr for super cheap with some Amain credits with the idea to build my first ladder frame railed hard body prerunner. I chose the gatekeeper because it comes stock with a true 4 link solid rear axle and has the ability to run the Element RC IFS Conversion Kit and my plan is to not use the front drives and run it 2wd with some custom long travel king shocks. We got a RC4wd 87 Toyota Extra Cab last year for my birthday and its been sitting in the box just waiting to be built. I might even test fit the 1/10 scale ford bronco hard body we have as its close in wheelbase compared to the Losi baja Rey that is a long batch. I got a plug and play brushless system that will be going in the element and I need to do some research and learn more about gearing and spurs and figure out something for the transmission. I reached out to element rc and associated with some info on how to convert this model to rwd and they had frankly shty answers from people clearly not involved in the tech side. I actually learned this from another youtuber. Although my intention was to weld up a cage, this wooden mock up cage is still in there and way stronger than I ever could have thought

I like that you're doing the lexan over fenders. I was thinking the other day that lexan would be more scale for a trophy truck

I made a custom tmaxx trophy truck body using a hpi dt 1 body and a stock tmaxx body it came out sick. Also made a sway bars .

A thought on your shocks I would run bump stops and travel limiter straps front and rear to protect the shock seals as I have killed a few shocks on my SBR and UDR on the front as they do not come with front limiters mine do now, you live and learn trying to get maximum droop and travel.
Great input. Once I figure out all the small details I plan to limit strap the rear for sure because of all the sprung weight in the axle. I would like to find some legit 1/10 scale bump stops. Maybe I will do an old Toyota Baja style rubber bump stop just mechanical. Great input my friend. Thanks for watching and following along.
@@DoubleClutchProductions I have used some 1/24th oil shocks on the SBR clone no springs and have cut off the eye on the lower mount and used some stick on silicone feet used to make glass coaster rest's, still struggling to make the mounts rigid enough also going to try a 1/12th set of shocks on my Kraken's just still looking for a good way to solid mount them so not just for show.
I haven't watched the rest of the series yet and this project is a year old now but i just wanted to say 1.9 class 1 tires are all 4.19 instead of 4.75. And are probably the exact size your looking for

I’ve been wanting to build something exactly like this like a hardbody free runner, but I haven’t been able to figure out how I was gonna do it right plot form how I could make it reliable because this is kind of the first time I’m doing something like this so I been very close to just buying a slash but I’m worried I wouldn’t necessarily be happy with a traxxas slash. I found this and it’s perfect. I would love to try replicated or do something very similar!

For the tires I have the same wheels and tires with the maxxis trepador tires on them and I have a new set of RC4WD Goodyear Wrangler MT/R 1.9 tires and they are a bit shorter than the maxxis tires might check those out the part number is Z-T0160

Enjoying this build, I looked at the Toyota as a Pre-Runner but the body looked way to small "but I only have 5th scale gas a UDR and a Super Baja Rey clone, but never had 1/10th scale anything, I was looking at the G-Made GOM the truck and SUV bodies, I did find the Pro-Line Pre-Runner body and fenders but do not know what to put it on small stuff new to me, I have made my SBR Clone 2wd and given it a cosmetic Pre-Runner look, and have just got the Pro-Line 67 Ford F100 body in the Heatwave livery don't get the black body it is rubbish it split round the lower body mounts drilling the holes and fitting it, so I got a clear one and sprayed it to look like a ongoing project, white front and rear fenders and hood silver main body but one door matte black I run different alloy rims to the spares Hyrax or stock tyres and every Vitavon alloy upgrade available 6 months ago, had to up the motor/ESC because of the weight.
So getting good info and insperation from this build, trouble is I am in the UK and most of the guys I know know nothing about Trophy Trucks and especially Pre-Runners. My gas trucks are all Trophy Truck style LOSI 5ive-T/ HPI Baja 5SC/ Kraken KV5TT, then I have a HPI Baja 5B/ LOSI DBXL as Class 's a Kraken Vekta-5 and a FID Dragon Hammer Ultra 4's, so yes like starting again in the hobby with 1/10th or maybe 1/8th if any truck options as I prefer big toys LOL
Axial just came out with the Scx6 1/6 scale ladder frame crawler. My next project is to do a scale large size off road truck. Would be cool to go big scale. Thank you for watching my friend.
