- There's a saying that, "God rarely repeats himself, so when he does, you better take notice." This is exactly what we find throughout the book of Exodus. Over and over, we see certain themes play out, and even the book's structure shows that God has a major purpose in mind. He really wants us to catch this big idea: He intends to dwell (make his home) with his people. How do we see this play out, both in Moses' life, the people's response and eventually with Jesus? And, finally, what is to be our response, both as individuals and as "a people" to what He has done?
God had a purpose in mind from the very beginning of creation, and even after sin threw creation into darkness, he maintained that purpose throughout history, revealing it over time: He intends to dwell with his people. The whole of scripture points to this, and the Tabernacle specifically is a foreshadowing of all that God had in mind for restoring fellowship with his people.
