16:30 that happens to be my favorite use of CGI in film history. They filmed the entire “jellyfish” sequence with Bond’s gloves on, but when they got to the editing room, the creators realized that Craig had been filmed holding onto the elevator WITHOUT gloves. Since it would be too expensive to reshoot the entire scene, they opted to give Craig CGI hands in EVERY SHOT of the fight in the glass maze. I have seen this movie more times than I can count, and yet, I’ve never been able to tell. This is my standard for Bond movies.

Man, I’m so glad you covered the Year of Bond, 2012. That was indeed a great year to be a Bond fan; everything I heard about the movie sounded excellent. Javier Bardem being announced as Silva elevated the excitement because you just knew you were going to get something unique from him. And we hadn’t had that over the top super villain yet (Le Chiffre and Greene mostly being downplayed). I just felt it in the air that this was going to be excellent. Not good, but excellent. I was so happy when it gained the box office and multiple awards. I’ll gush about this movie without any shame whatsoever.
9/10 Third time was certainly the charm for me. The contrast between the old and new makes for a great tone to an engaging story. Great review, here's my thought about Skyfall... The 23rd Bond feature film was a masterpiece and it's more of a follow-up that it doesnt retreat the same formula like other Bond films and this one was so good. It's amazing that they made a 50th anniversary of James Bond legacy and it delivered more attention since re-watch on Netflix and giving more time of how incredible this film is? It's a film that tells Bond's back story of where it came from and turning into a dark territory of bringing him back to resurrection. Daniel Craig is fantastic as always and he's keeping his 21st century Bond character since two films and he did amazing job as being cold blooded 00 agent and that didnt turn him into a much development since Casino Royale so I wanted more of his character and hes bringing back like Ian Fleming wanted to be a spy hero. The characters are great including the villain Raoul Silva, played by Javier Bardem, he's enjoying everything like a good old Bond villain like always want into an fashion way. Judi Dench as M is very important as well, and I do enjoy her fear and reaction of what will happen if shes going to be safe and along with Bond and M' trustworthy team was really interesting and that makes her so good that her ending was pretty emotional that we always love M in the first place where Judi Dench played her character for so long since the 90's. The new cast is really interesting and having a black Moneypenny, new M, and a high tech nerdy Q was really a choice into a new 21st century of Bond franchise and having a sexiest two Bond gals that I love Naomie Harris' performance and that sexy Bond girl with that silk black dress was hot as ever. I was thought they want Eve to be part of the Bond girl, but they did it until revealed just shown and shes really good in it. The scenes were spectacular and amazing with Deakins' cinematography, well shot action sequences, the music done by Thomas Newman, Sam Mendes' clever original filmmaking experience, and it's very focus as becoming a "The Dark Knight" type of a darker movie. The presentation well organize into an incredible opening and that theme song by Adele was beautiful and very emotional since I would hear that Radiohead of Bond's hit tracks was memorable. I would watch this movie over so its probably on my top 3 classic Bond films as well so I love my favorite Bond film ever is Casino Royale so I'll leave just close. This is the best 50th legacy of Bond's masterpiece into a full circle. I love Daniel Craig's appearance to meet the majesty of the Queen so its cool that they represent the upcoming film in 2012 like releasing the first Bond film of Dr. No.
It's a shame they didn't get Sean Connery to play the groundskeeper. They could of had a scene where they are planning out how to prepare for the bad guys, and M gives a suggestion, and the groundkeeper turns her around and says "man talk" and slaps her but.
Daniel Craig era is a bit like the Indiana Jones films Casino Royale /Raiders =fresh and exciting Quantum Of Solace /Temple Of Doom = lost it's way slightly Skyfall/The Last Crusade = back on form with Indy facing up to his past and his father and Bond facing up to his past and his surrogate mother M plus Indy's father dies for awhile and M dies but her presence is still felt after Spectre/Crystal Skull = not as good as third film but had had elements from the past involved
Another brilliant review. 40 minutes felt like 5. Im not sure if Skyfall is one my favs but it grows on me more every year and it has a lot of really brilliant moments. The DB5 and moneypenny reveal were fantastic.
Barthotuber Judi dench did not want to quit. She actually cried when she read it in the script. That being said, it’s clear they wanted an M that can have some physical action scenes which Judi obviously couldn’t partake in.
Adele's song is one of my favorite Bond themes. One of he reasons is that the movie came out a month or two before what folks were saying the world might actually end for real (supposedly Dec. 21st, 2012), per someones prediction. Her haunting song fit right in; made it that much more memorable. A bit surprised that fact wasn't noted here. Thought the movie itself was such a departure, with MI6 being on the defensive and the gritty, badass final scenes.
When I first heard the name "SKYFALL", I thought the film might be an updating of "THUNDERBALL", with a big reveal of the Quantum organization and some world-threatening scheme. I was a bit shocked to find out that instead, we got a "stand-alone" film like "GOLDFINGER". Although, there was ONE element from "TB" included-- Bond having to get himself back in shape, which was a big thing in both Fleming's novelization of the unfilmed scripts, and the 1965 movie. The 1983 remake, also. I wound up likeing "SKYFALL" better than the films that came before it and after it. So... it was a real shame that, due to circumstances, it was the only Bond film since 1973 that I DIDN'T get to see in a theatre, at all. I saw a fuzzy copy of it on UA-cam... after I already saw "SPECTRE" in a theatre. "Silva" just didn't do it for me as a villain. Hmm. And, funny thing... I think he actually LOOKS too much like "Green" in the previous film. Hmm.
Hear me out, perfectly good reason for Bond to have the old DB5. MI6 had an old unused DB5 outfitted by Q Branch for the OO section back in the 60’s. It was forgotten about for decades and left in a warehouse somewhere, eventually in was found in the 2000’s and Bond bought it from and used parts from it to outfit and restore his own personal DB5, something of a passion project for him. Which would explain why it was in storage with the rest of his possessions after his supposed death.
Skyfall was the first film I saw at the movies and this is another personal favorite of mine and I love the gadgets, the girls, and action sequences the scene when Bond at the beginning when we see his silhouette it's like the gun barrel sequence at least the beginning of all the Bond films until Casino Royale
MUCH better than the previous film. Loved Javier Bardem as the villain. The pre-title sequence and title song were one of the best in the entire series. Sad to see Judi Dench's M get killed.
When I was about 10 years old in early 90's my father paid me a subscription to a service where I got delivered one Bond film every month on VHS. All the way up to what was the last one, License to Kill at that point. Thanks fot this series, I have enjoyed it quite a bit. Can't wait to see your video on Spectre which for me probably is the best of the Craig films. Though I have only seen it once so I might have to watch it again to say for sure.
Skyfall is my favorite Bond film to date. It really blew me away in 2012 and continues to delight me with each new viewing. I look forward to your review of Spectre. I'm in the minority of people who actually like that movie, but even if you hate it like most people I'll still tune in as I enjoy your reviews of the Bond films all the same. Take your time though, I know making this isn't easy. Thanks for another great recap!
Perfect summary of Skyfall. Agreed with every point. Even the obvious plot contrivances don't bother me as this is a mainly thematic story rather than plot centric. And DoP Roger Deakins can never get enough praise for his stunning work. A terrific film.
To me, Casino Royal is the most entertaining out of the 4 Craig Bond movies so far (here's to hoping No Time to Die will be great). Skyfall is the one that made me feel that the old James Bond tropes can be adapted and made interesting. Also I don't know what it is exactly but the last scenes with Bond standing atop the building look at London, is the coolest image ever. One of the few times I felt giddy watching Bond films. Anyway great analysis, great editing and great humor! Here's to hoping to see your Spectre review soon!
Thanks for another long-awaited recapping. Good summary as always and I agree with almost all of your opinions. This one not as entertaining, amusing or insightful as many of your others but I know they can't all be that way, and not as much to poke fun at in this one. Thanks again!
@@iamok7085 You didn't see SPECTRE then? He kills a guy and then forces his widow to have sex with him.. the scene was so vile and weird I almost left the cinema - and I'm a big Bond fan. And FFS, this whole new Bond being a woman thing is stupid - it's merely a joke in the very start of the next film as Bond has retired and his job has been taken over by a woman. She gets killed and he takes his job back the moment he gets embroiled in a big plot again. People moaning about it are the ones with no balls and no brains either, get over it - it's a joke the writers put in to make fun of those saying the role of Bond will become a black guy or a woman etc.. so they put a black woman as 007 just for the beginning of the next movie. People who can't take that are pathetic.
Austin Dyer, forced? How the hell did he force her to have sex? He did not threaten her or point gun at her head or something else of the sort. Clearly you have no idea what the word "forced" actually means, scrub.
3D-Modelling, LOL. James in Casino Royale, Skyfall, and Spectre is damn close to how the books are and he kills and kicks major ass. What series have you been watching? LOL
I actually feel like how Bond says *ma'am* is on purpose...throughout the Craig Era I have felt she serves as a mother-like figure to a blunt 007...so maybe...just maybe...ma'am = mom
I actually rate Skyfall higher than Casino Royale, even though I think Casino had a more polished story in terms of characters and flow but to me Skyfall is Daniel Craig's best performance for a Bond movie
That "palm reading gun" was a huge headache in postproduction, as Craig wore gloves for many scenes. So in quite a few sequences they had to create CGI hands and paint them over his gloved hands.
Excellent analysis, DBF. You always point out things that a more casual viewer like myself would overlook. I have to admit that I absolutely loved the first half of Skyfall and was less impressed by the second, and I especially loved the scenes in Shanghai; that was the stuff of dreams; it reminded me of Blade Runner.
Im not as much a fan of Skyfall, I think just enough was in the right place to make a great Bond movie, but the second time they repeated the same style we got Spectre, when all the laziness in the formula showed up. I enjoyed it but there have always been gimmicks that took me out of the moment and felt a shame for me. By the way Im a younger fan, the generation the movie was trying to appeal to. The good parts. Absolutely beautiful and imaginative visuals that really add to the film. Not style over substance, just very wonderful to watch. You really feel like youre going somewhere with the story and i LOVE that of any thriller movie. The villain is played so well. The way he’s written he could have been very gimmicky, like how Blofeld turned out in Spectre. But Bardem gets it just right. The bad parts. The smug “were you expecting an exploding pen” type lines, breaking the fourth wall to try say ‘this film is modern and realistic now, just how your trendy new generation likes it’. And trying to create a Benedict Cumberbatch Sherlock type character out of Q because it was fashionable at the time. The heavy handed ‘old agent’ storyline that slows things down, feels depressing when this was Craig’s first solid Bond film, and disappears instantly anyway. Feels like it’s there to ‘explain’ Bond’s time gap since Quantum, but I just want a solid Bond story. The middle lifted from the Dark Knight. Everyone tried to rip off the Dark Knight after it came out and it’s just predictable now. The train crash underground totally jumps the shark and feels fake. The great tension of the scene on the island ruined by the abrupt, all so convenient CGI helicopter moment. And that terribly written line “it’s called a radio”. Who wrote this?? Just enough of it worked to create a great film. But it came as no surprise when Spectre was a big disappointment after they tried to pull the same tricks
Watching Skyfall for a second time, I think I've had a change of heart in terms of how I feel. Up until several days ago, I absolutely despised this movie because it felt like the Anti-Tomorrow Never Dies; because it is. There's also the fact throughout this review, all the defense for the leaps in logic can also be made for just about any other Bond film, which I would make for Die Another Day. And I'm still slightly offended by Q's disrespect to Goldeneye. HOWEVER, there is simply no denying how well-crafted this film is as a movie. The film itself is also very bondian and hearing certain quips by Craig, it was very sophisticated but entertaining as well. Many of the arcs were a lot of fun like when Bond calls in backup through the radio, or the courtroom scene wear Newman's score is breathing 007 as Craig rushes to the courthouse; it's all very rich in significance, and along with the meaning of this film and all of it's themes, Mendes weaves it together all in time for the finale. Personally, I still don't enjoy this finale as much as Spectre, because I preferred the courtroom scene. Though, the final arc matches with the movie was leading up to and it makes sense. So while both Skyfall and Spectre make for great bond movies, I still think Spectre is a better Bond Film, while Skyfall is the better film and simply a good movie in general.
Really entertaining to watch. You touched on all of the things I'd noticed when I first saw the film. It always impresses me how well and how eloquently the Dutch speak English. Dutch isn't that easy to learn but your countrymen seem to have the best English of all the European nations.
6:14 - sorry for being a smart ass on that one. But actually it’s not the first time Craig says “Ma’am” to M. There’s a scene in Casino Royale where M tells Bond: “don’t ever break into my house again.” Bond answers briefly: “Ma’am”
I'm going to have to watch this again cause when I saw this the first time it came out I wasn't impressed but after your great review I'm going to give it another try. Well done.
Great review, thanks for this. My favorite emotional moment is Ms last words as she was dying looking with fondness at Bond “At least I got one thing right” believing in Bond
I got a great idea for a Bond film, have one of the former still living bonds play a bad guy it would be a headspinning who played who plot that hasn't been done b4. Love your vid I of course watched it twice!
No the bad guy had never played the role of James bond in a previous film I'm saying like Timothy Dalton vs Daniel Craig for example. The villain could be from anywhere. Or even be a double agent.
Little known fact: the ‘radio’ that bond is given by Q was based on the trackers used in Goldfinger 👍 ...please tell me you’re gonna continue to review Thunderbirds, and the Gerry Anderson stuff? So many amazing folks worked on Bond and the Anderson stuff. Derrick Meddings was a legend, making the miniatures and special effects for Anderson before leading the effects work on several Bond films. Shane Rimmer voiced Scott Tracy, and appeared at least once, in you only live twice...
Despite it's length this is undoubtedly the best Bond review ever. Skyfall is also one of the best Bond films to date with Spectre not far behind. Can't wait for that review. This recap reminded me why I both loved and hated this movie with the reasons being too complex to go into here.
Great Video man but you're missing one HUGE point: Skyfall is about Tradition VS Modernity and transition between these 2 wolds. - M speech is NOT about Bond but about NEW WAYS of war ( terrorism/ Idea of progress/ Exploration to a better futur/ Difficulties to fight against terrorism)which - 007 Service is a relics of the Cold War and transition between Ms reflects that. - Back to basics with NO modern gadgets. Today were fighting agains ideas/ extremism. Not against URSS/ Nuclear weapons etc.... - MI-6 HQ is destroyed ( relic of the Cold War) -> Symbol/ No one is safe/ 09-11 - Cars : jaguar VS aston Martin - "The Fighting temeraire" painted by Turner in the National Gallery... ETC.... This Bond movie is not just a bond movie. They are soooo many timeless ideas about modernity/Tradition/ Transition from one world to an other that it makes this movie a master piece and a reflexion on our world even 10 years after.
Berenice Marlohe! She’s like an Uber-Bond girl. Like if you put into a super computer all the other Bond girls and programmed it to give you the ultimate version of one, the result would be her.
At the time of its release, Skyfall was one of my favourite flicks from the franchise. But over the time it has actually become a weak one for me and now it‘s in the lower half of my full list. I kinda completely lost the interest in the plot and the love of seeing this film. I‘ve seen it in theaters 4 times. And back then I really liked it! But now it‘s pretty much to me what OHMSS is to Jeroen: A lot of people like it, but I don‘t really like it. However I gotta praise the film for featuring Silva, my alltime favourite villain from the franchise! I mean just like Scaramanga, you simply cannot hate Silva! Though the only negative thing is his appearence. I wish he had a bigger role in the film. It‘s only about half way through the movie that you see him for the first time. Everybody does a good job acting wise but that doesn‘t really save the movie for me. Except from the climax and the London underground scene I don‘t really like anything else. Spectre will be better for me again. For me Skyfall is Craigs’ second weakest. But I cannot finish this comment without talking about Adeles title song! It's one of the best of the series and it's in my top 5 title song list! So I‘m giving it a 6/10.
My main issue with the Daniel Craig era Bond is how M is such a one-note stoic ruthless character. Never smiles, laughs, or seems nervous. Just scowls and seems either annoyed or pissed off
I found your channel a few weeks ago and I've been working my way through all of your recaps. I just now, unhappily, realized you haven't done Spectre yet! I'll waiting with bated breath. Your content is put together really well; thank you.
As a few different youtube channels have pointed out, Silva’s plan is nowhere near as complex as people think it is, also not everything that occurred on screen is necessarily part of the plan. The plan in no way relied on Bond following Silva, all that had to happen was the doors open, Silva escapes to the Metro to grab his police disguise, and a tube train is derailed as as a distraction. The hearing didn’t necessarily have to be part of the plan, once he escape he could assassinate M whether at the hearing on at some other time and place.
The first Bond film where I really got emotional. Casino Royale had the shower scene with Eva Green after the fight, but Skyfall just upped it. Severine is one of my favorite Bond girls and I didn't like her fate....:(
13:35 while i get the complaint that it feels to early to do the old grizzled agent story it should be noted that in ian flemings books (from what i remember) it was said most agents only last about 5 years as is due to the grueling work. At that point james was at it for 6 years. So take that as you will
That's a fair point. But it's still a shame we never got to see Craig's Bond in his prime. He was unfinished at the end of Quantum and old and washed-up at the start of Skyfall. It's like they left out all the good stuff.
Honestly, I don't think I'll ever get why Skyfall is held in the regards that it is. Personally speaking, a lot of people, I've found, often say that because of the 50th anniversary or because it's better than QoS, that it's this standard bearer now for Bond films. I truly respect your views and actually love your video but I still can't find myself enjoying Skyfall any time soon and actually rank it toward the bottom of my Bond list... But I'm the type that holds On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Licence to Kill and Casino Royale as my top 3 Bond films, respectively.
Casino royally was great. Quantum kinda sucked. Skyfall was amazing and I'm just watching the first few minutes of Spectre and it is AMAZING. I hope you post your recap of Spectre soon. I especially love how you always inform us about which chicks are hot. 😂
Skyfall is the most patriotic Bond film since The Spy Who Loved Me.

Fun fact: If you type "Skyfall scene" into google maps, it'll take you to the scene where Bond and M are standing together before 29:57
The scene where Silva is captured in a glass box reminds me how Hannibal is locked in the library in The Silence of the Lambs. 🧐

He needs to recap Casino Royale (1967). Unlike Skyfall and most recent Bond films, the sixties Casino Royale was licenced by Ian Fleming.
Pretty amazing that every single Bond film has been made in Queen Elizabeth's reign.

*too old
Well it's true though, in 2006 Craig looked very young and in more recent years he looks more middle aged.
The franchise is old. It used to just be formulaic, but now the life has been totally squeezed out of it.
I think it's fair to assume that the life of a 00 would quickly age a person. Especially Bond, with all the crap he goes through.

No.
Finally...
My favourite Bond movie!
Skyfall is SOOOOOO good. Loved it at the theatre, and every time I've seen it since.
It's a shame they didn't get Sean Connery to play the groundskeeper. They could of had a scene where they are planning out how to prepare for the bad guys, and M gives a suggestion, and the groundkeeper turns her around and says "man talk" and slaps her but.
Daniel Craig era is a bit like the Indiana Jones films
Casino Royale /Raiders =fresh and exciting
Quantum Of Solace /Temple Of Doom = lost it's way slightly
Skyfall/The Last Crusade = back on form with Indy facing up to his past and his father and Bond facing up to his past and his surrogate mother M plus Indy's father dies for awhile and M dies but her presence is still felt after
Spectre/Crystal Skull = not as good as third film but had had elements from the past involved
@@lordjackson Crystal Skull better than Raiders? It takes all sorts I suppose.
SPECTRE and Crystal Skull were abominations. So yea, they are similar. Thouvh SPECTRE has grown on me slightly
Another brilliant review. 40 minutes felt like 5. Im not sure if Skyfall is one my favs but it grows on me more every year and it has a lot of really brilliant moments. The DB5 and moneypenny reveal were fantastic.
Really great review! I'm already looking forward to the spectre episode!
@notformebeaky well, I agree with you on that one. xD
So am I.
I just watched Skyfall for the first time yesterday that ending is so sad.
I was completely in shock M actually died!! It was an excellent emotionally driven scene!!
Beach Bunny But in real life i think it was because Judi Dench wanted to quit this role
Wow 23 fantastic reviews you are THE BOND FAN
This, as well as all of your commentary's are Double- Ohh AWESOME!! Long live DutchBondFan!
Re-watched in preparation for 'No Time To Die'. Up next: 'Spectre'. Once again, good job. Just as good as the first time I saw this re-cap.
Great job on this Recapping episode! It was worth the wait!
Perfect summary of Skyfall. Agreed with every point. Even the obvious plot contrivances don't bother me as this is a mainly thematic story rather than plot centric. And DoP Roger Deakins can never get enough praise for his stunning work. A terrific film.
The CNN Anchor, Wolf Blitzer, also had a cameo in Mission Impossible Fallout.
Maria Kelly he after that money!!
At least when CNN hosts show up in movies, their fantasy makes sense
To me, Casino Royal is the most entertaining out of the 4 Craig Bond movies so far (here's to hoping No Time to Die will be great). Skyfall is the one that made me feel that the old James Bond tropes can be adapted and made interesting. Also I don't know what it is exactly but the last scenes with Bond standing atop the building look at London, is the coolest image ever. One of the few times I felt giddy watching Bond films.
Anyway great analysis, great editing and great humor! Here's to hoping to see your Spectre review soon!
Skyfall’s a great film really glad you loved it. I’ve always see skyfall ranked like 5 or 6th in most bond fans list great video!
I kinda expected them to actually kill craig, and the movie being in the "how we got here"-setup.
this film is just gorgeous to look at. The cinematography is stunning. Good old Roger Deakins!
Aah finally!! Been waiting for this one!
About the Bond girls smoking, Xenia Onatopp smoked in goldeneye.
Thanks for another long-awaited recapping. Good summary as always and I agree with almost all of your opinions. This one not as entertaining, amusing or insightful as many of your others but I know they can't all be that way, and not as much to poke fun at in this one. Thanks again!
Bond simply walking into the shower to the oblivious Severine is the ultimate alpha moment.
Or completely tone def given Severine is a victim of a sex trafficking ring
And then she dies because of him, for nothing. Couldn't believe that
Your voice is just great for Saturday ☺🙌
What if I told you that the Bond franchise had been infiltrated by SPECTRE?
lol rapey. He's the most balless, soy- chugging Bond of the last 60 years. At this point he might as well be replaced by a woman. Oh wait...
People who can't take that are pathetic.
or infiltrated by the Russians, or even infiltrated by google (gasp)
Austin Dyer, forced? How the hell did he force her to have sex? He did not threaten her or point gun at her head or something else of the sort. Clearly you have no idea what the word "forced" actually means, scrub.
3D-Modelling, LOL. James in Casino Royale, Skyfall, and Spectre is damn close to how the books are and he kills and kicks major ass. What series have you been watching? LOL
I actually feel like how Bond says *ma'am* is on purpose...throughout the Craig Era I have felt she serves as a mother-like figure to a blunt 007...so maybe...just maybe...ma'am = mom
many Brits really do pronounce it that way
I actually rate Skyfall higher than Casino Royale, even though I think Casino had a more polished story in terms of characters and flow but to me Skyfall is Daniel Craig's best performance for a Bond movie
That "palm reading gun" was a huge headache in postproduction, as Craig wore gloves for many scenes.
So in quite a few sequences they had to create CGI hands and paint them over his gloved hands.
Very well done!
Silva’s UA-cam segment was amazing lol
Great review as usual!
Really entertaining to watch. You touched on all of the things I'd noticed when I first saw the film.
It always impresses me how well and how eloquently the Dutch speak English. Dutch isn't that easy to learn but your countrymen seem to have the best English of all the European nations.
Coolest Gunbarrel-ending! I absolutely LOVE IT! PLEASE do that everytime, tradition, you know ;)
Bond. Dutch Bond. Superb review. Thank you for your hard work.
Ah yes, my actual favorite 007 movie!
Definitely one of my favourite Bond films. Silva is surely the best villain since Max Zorin.
I think Le Chiffre was also an excellent villain, but Silva's laugh in the subway surely echoes Zorin's "departure" on the Golden Gate bridge?
I agree!!
Alec Trevelyan ? Elektra King ? Le Chiffre ?
best since Robert Davi
@@CoolCasano Franz Sanchez?
That was the plot of goldeneye
No the bad guy had never played the role of James bond in a previous film I'm saying like Timothy Dalton vs Daniel Craig for example. The villain could be from anywhere. Or even be a double agent.
Little known fact: the ‘radio’ that bond is given by Q was based on the trackers used in Goldfinger 👍
...please tell me you’re gonna continue to review Thunderbirds, and the Gerry Anderson stuff? So many amazing folks worked on Bond and the Anderson stuff. Derrick Meddings was a legend, making the miniatures and special effects for Anderson before leading the effects work on several Bond films. Shane Rimmer voiced Scott Tracy, and appeared at least once, in you only live twice...
Despite it's length this is undoubtedly the best Bond review ever. Skyfall is also one of the best Bond films to date with Spectre not far behind. Can't wait for that review. This recap reminded me why I both loved and hated this movie with the reasons being too complex to go into here.
Great review! Dutch Bond Fan always delivers great reviews.
Finally the review is here!!
They should have Sean Connery to play Kincade in Skyfall for the 50th anniversary of James Bond!
And now you're caught up to Spectre, excited for your re-review!
I love your reference to TBE...🤣
My ranking of the Daniel Craig Bond movies so far...
1. Sky Fall
2. Casino Royale
3. Spectre
4. Quantum of Solace
mrlaidback83 I have to go with
#1 Spectre
#2 Skyfall
#3 Casino Royale
#4 Quantum of Solace
mrlaidback83
Spectre
Casino Royale
Skyfall
Quantum of solacd
Well at least we can all agree that Quantum of Solace sucks lol
Great Video man but you're missing one HUGE point: Skyfall is about Tradition VS Modernity and transition between these 2 wolds.
- M speech is NOT about Bond but about NEW WAYS of war ( terrorism/ Idea of progress/ Exploration to a better futur/ Difficulties to fight against terrorism)which
- 007 Service is a relics of the Cold War and transition between Ms reflects that.
- Back to basics with NO modern gadgets. Today were fighting agains ideas/ extremism. Not against URSS/ Nuclear weapons etc....
- MI-6 HQ is destroyed ( relic of the Cold War) -> Symbol/ No one is safe/ 09-11
- Cars : jaguar VS aston Martin
- "The Fighting temeraire" painted by Turner in the National Gallery...
It was a very nice review man
My main issue with the Daniel Craig era Bond is how M is such a one-note stoic ruthless character.
I'm aiming to finish the SPECTRE episode in december! Glad you enjoy it!
Severine is one of my favorite Bond girls and I didn't like her fate....:(
I totally agree!!
12:41 I'm ashamed to admit I never picked up on the meaning of that bit of innuendo till you pointed it out.
Nice recapping review can’t wait for spectre review soon and the new bond movie next year
13:35 while i get the complaint that it feels to early to do the old grizzled agent story it should be noted that in ian flemings books (from what i remember) it was said most agents only last about 5 years as is due to the grueling work.
At that point james was at it for 6 years. So take that as you will
That's a fair point. But it's still a shame we never got to see Craig's Bond in his prime. He was unfinished at the end of Quantum and old and washed-up at the start of Skyfall. It's like they left out all the good stuff.
Side note: When it wasn't a miniature, the burning/burned Aston Martin was a redressed Porsche (not a 911, one of the transaxle coupes)
This film is in the top 5 for bond films!
6:15 haha. At first I thought he was saying “mom”…but I think it’s actually “ma’am” and not “madam”
27:16 I always get goosebumps when M reads the poem and it shows Bond doing his absolute best to save the day
Dude... you look fuqing great! Loved YOUR gunbarrel...you should be the next Bond!
Another GREAT summary by DutchBond Fan!
Fair enough man! To each their own!
Casino royally was great. Quantum kinda sucked. Skyfall was amazing and I'm just watching the first few minutes of Spectre and it is AMAZING. I hope you post your recap of Spectre soon. I especially love how you always inform us about which chicks are hot. 😂
